Now that I have got your attention...

Would you use a Vokey Spin Milled if they were to produce a 50 degree and 52 degree SM Wedges? Please state why you chose one of the answers. Thanks.

yes, I absolutely love my 56 and 60 degree sm. They are about 3 years old and are starting to take a beating. Grooves are great because I clean my clubs a lot and regroove often but they are just taking a beating from the rocks and all of the other crap on my crap golf course.

No, because I already own the matching 50º GW for my set. I do own 56/10 and 60/4 Vokeys [non Spin Milled] and think they're great.

Read my Sig.. Since you're going to use a 50 or 52 wedge to go about 100 yards, its best to take the 54 10 bounce and make it a 52 or even 50, it will bring the bounce down to a 8 or 6, depending if you go to a 52 or 50.. I went with a 56 and made it a 53 degree, I have 7 bounce and love the hell out of it!!!!

If you want more bounce which is kinda of weird go with the 54-14 and just make it a 52 and you will have 12 bounce..

So instead of waiting for them to come out, which they probably won't just bring your club to a professional

I voted no, just because I play a 54* and 60*. If I played a 52* like I used to I would have to say, definately.

Here's what I play:

I say no because I'm in love with my Mizuno wedges. Tell me if I'm wrong but the Vokey wedges are cast. I like the feel of forged. Spin milled means nothing to me. I don't find any enjoyment by sucking a ball back 20 feet. I do enjoy hitting the wedge the distance I want and having it stay there.

What's in my bag

I absolutey would, the only thing that seperated the callaway x tour from the vokey because the vokey spin milleds were available in a 52* so I had to go with callaway. I think it would be a great move if titleist offered the spin milled in a 50 and 52*.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
