I've tried a search which didn't turn up anything, so apologize if this if this has been thoroughly answered already.

Looking to move up from my RAC OS's, and among the clubs I demoed this weekend at the range, I really liked the Ping i5's. They were a bit shorter than my OS's, some of which I can chalk up to the TM lofts being juiced about 1.5 degrees as it relates to the six iron, but they were just really accurate for me and very consistent in terms of distance

I didn't have an i10 to be able to compare to, and my question is whether the i10 is going to be comparable in its ease/difficulty to hit. I know it has a bit more of a players profile in terms of topline, a bit smaller head, but the rep says that it will be comparable in its forgiveness, and just a tad easier to get up in the air. Anyone out there who can verify?

Thanks,
Jim

I just recently upgraded to the I5's. I demoed the G10 and i10's. The g10's are too super game improving for me, and the I10's seemed much like a blade and a little to small of a head for my liking. So my fitter gave me an I5 to try and it was perfect. A great improvement over my previous clubs. The best way to describe the I5 is its right between the 10 series.

Plus there isnt the wait for them like there is for the new 10 series, I got mine in early Sept and got them in like 5 business days. The I 5's will beinmy bag for a long time.

I hope this helps

i am currently playing the i5's and will be switching to either the s58's or i10's for the next year. the i5's are a forgiving club however i like the thinner top line, for forgiveness they actually play pretty similar i have found by hitting both of them at the range. the new shaft that ping uses in the i10's feel pretty good to me as well.

    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.
    • Day 151 1-11 flow work today. I've been doing all pause work, so Inwanted to get some rhythm going. Recorded.
    • a) No b) This MLR says: I doubt the MLR is going to affect their weekly league games, in other words.
    • So the question was posed today by some of my friends.  Is a pitch mark the same as a divot?  I thought NO, but they argued if your ball lands in another player's divot (made by club during a swing) this was the same as a pitch mark, i.e. the ball mark made when the ball lands
    • Original definition use to or still is how far offline you hit it. It might be better to think of it as consistency in retaining favorable launch conditions to optimize distance.   That heat map showed a gigantic 0-3% loss in ball speed. That is absurd. The true 100% sweet spot is tiny for all clubs. Good luck telling the difference if the sweet spot is under 3% in a sizable area. Especially considering variation in launch angle, spin, and outdoor weather.
