Titleist AP1 vs. AP2 Irons, thoughts?

Hello, I'm 17 years old, and I've been playing golf on and off all my life. But this year is the year I am going to stick with it and really accomplish some goals in the sport. For someone who doesn't put a ton of time into it I'm pretty good. I hit the ball decent 75% of the time and my distances on my clubs are longer than most adults I've played with. My swing speed is probably anywhere between 90-100 mph. Right now I'm playing with Nike SQ Machspeed Irons w/ steel shafts. I've had this set for about 4-5 years and I'm looking to upgrade either late this year or next year. I've been looking at a set of Ttitleist AP1 irons that I saw in a local course's pro shop, and I've thought about purchasing them when I have enough money from work. But then I learned that there are AP2 irons out. Are these sets of irons good for a novice but experienced golfer like me? Have any of you had experience with these sets of irons? Thanks.

Not sure they are good for your game or not. I would go and demo them, or get fitted for a set of clubs. It is impossible anyone to say they would be a good club for you or not.

What kind of player are these clubs recommended for?

Little amount of bounce, offset, lack of cavity back, clubhead size. I would say they are suppose to compete with Mizuno MP-15's and such.

I would say, PGA Tour level to 9 handicap probably. There are PGA Tour players who play these irons, and probably a lot of single digit players.

I would say AP1's are much more game improvement, so probably 15-30 handicap players.

Again that is a wide range. I am sure there are 15 handicap players who like their AP1's. They are built for and advertised for better players.

I have both sets: AP1-710 and AP2-712 models.  The AP1's are more forgiving but the AP2's are more accurate and provide better feedback. If you want to be a more serious golfer and practice weekly the AP2's would be the better choice. If you simply like to casually play on the weekends then the AP1's are better. Both are good sets however.

      Day 206 3-11 Focused on wider backswing and reconnecting arm in downswing. Wasn't really happy with how swing was looking today. Wider backswing is very different for me. Went back to do a some longer pauses at the top. Hit a few foam balls.

      This is an awesome breakdown. most of the bigger tournaments usually have one wave with the advantage, Thank you for the breakdown. If it is soft then it will be a lower final score

      Over the past 15 years, the winning score has ranged from -10 to -20. Mostly around -13.  Here is Thursday and Friday weather. Saturday and Sunday weather. I think the course will play soft. Plenty of sky cover, lots of rain on Thursday. Fairways and greens will probably stay soft throughout the week.  In terms of tee times, I think Thursday morning and Friday afternoon have the biggest advantage.       Things that I am or have worked on... 1.    Trail Elbow - Check 2.    Hip Turn - Check 3.    Rolled Inside - Check 4.    Wide Takeaway - Check 5.    Sway and Tilt - Nope, but I did a hip turn and tilt 🤣 I am giving myself 4.5/5 for my long backswing.  Great post!

      We have a very difficult but mostly showy course this week. Lets see what they got. This course offers so many chances to get into trouble it is really a mental minefield. I am excited to see who can handle it and who cant. Last year we got a foreshadowing of JJ and Rory, I am excited for this year Who do people have winning? what will the winning score be? I am thinking 12 or 13 under
