Callaway X12's to fit or not

Hey guys new here posting but long time reader. I know the fitting question has been wore out but thats not what I'm asking. My question is should I spend the money on getting these Callaway X 12 clubs fitted for me. My buddy gave them to me and I plan on playing quite a bit but should i save my money and get a "used" newer set and have them fitted or these? is there that much if a difference in technology. Thanks.

Depends on what kind of fitting it's going to be. If you're going to get lie angles adjusted, yeah maybe it's worth it. If you're going to get to get shafts shortened, maybe it's worth it. If you're going to get lie angle changed, shaft shortened, thicker grips put on, or get reshafting generally because of it being the wrong flex or you want a different flight... it's gonna add up fast and you'll be better served getting something new from the manufacturer because they'll do it for free. Also, the fitting may or may not be free, depending on who does it and whether they credit you towards the adjustments.

Thanks dkolo, the guys at the shop are really fair and arent pushy so maybe they will point me in the right direction if i will be getter served with a newer set.
