Sand Saves

Does hitting a drive into a fairway bunker, then getting a par on the hole count as a sand save or is it just getting it up and down from a greenside bunker?

Dont think so mate, a sand save is getting the ball up and down in 2, maybe fairway bunker, green and putt would be a sand save, although in terms of statistics and improving your game there not really the kind of sand saves you should be focusing on.

im sure theres someone out there who could clarfiy how it would count as an up and down etc

I keep track of two types of sand saves:

* Up and down from a greenside bunker. * Par after hitting a greenside bunker. This is seemingly necessitated by that the only greenside bunkers I find myself hitting are off the tee on par-5s. I was with a group once that argued about whether it was a sand save to make GIR from a fairway bunker and then two-putt. I don't know if they ever resolved that.
