Hello, I am 6'6 so I have extended irons.  1.75" over standard.  I have been fitted for those.  I am 1 handicap.  My Gap, SW and LW are all standard length.  Should i match all my wedges to the same length as my PW? I take huge divots with my wedges.  I think my tendency is to go down after it because club is short.  Thoughts?

As a club fitter, I would recommend getting fitted for your wedges too.  You mentioned your irons were professionally fitted for length, but what about the lie angles?  When shaft length is altered, longer or shorter, it will also have an effect on the lie angle.  As long as your irons and wedges are not of a cast cast material and are able to be safely bent using a loft and lie bender, I would recommend that your lie angles be checked to match what your swing accurately dictates, along with the length, of course.  The lie angles are much more important in the shorter, higher lofted clubs, than in the longer, lower lofts.  With the shorter, higher lofted clubs, because you stand closer to the ball and because the bottom of the swing is usually farther back in your stance due to ball placement, divots will usually be longer in most cases when staying down and through the shot.  If your wedges should match your PW length should be determined your club fitter.  Depending on how the rest of your set is weighted could answer that.  If you do decide to get fitted for your wedges, bring your irons too and if your fitter has any type of launch monitor or simulator, find out if he can make sure your gaps are good between the different lofts and satisfy your carry distances.  I would recommend calling your fitter in advance and set up an appointment ahead of time so he can set aside the time for you.

Also, as an fyi, just because a player is tall, don't always asume a longer shaft is needed, with longer arms, it may need to be shorter than standard.  In several cases, shorter players require longer shafts too.  Go see a club fitter to know for sure.

Lie angles were set as well and bent accordingly.  My wedges are stock.

Then get a wedge fitting too.  Being a 1 handicap like you stated, I'm sure accuracy is important to you, have all of your loft and lie angles verified to what you were fitted for on a regular basis.  I myself, still play a soft, mb blade and I find my lofts and lies needing adjustments on a regular basis.  In other words, club heads have a tendency to move so they should be confirmed.  When you notice the ball is not doing what you ask it too with a particular club or clubs, is usually a good indicator to have it cheked. It will also be a lot easier for you to maintain the correct lofts and lies, if you can write them down and save them for easy reference.

Good luck and kept shooting low rounds.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
