I spoke with a therapist for a while specifically about how to not blow up my marriage but deal with her.   In no un-certain terms she told me what I was dealing with was extreme and that if we could, my wife and I should move to get away from a continuing problem such as her, and just get the toxic person out of our life.   She jokingly said that if she had a patient like her, she could probably retire.   She has a lot of issues.

But funny story...

One day my FIL comes up to my wife and was telling her the normal stuff (they haven't spoken for a week, or she was being really horrible) and he goes "She's losing it.   Really!   She is starting to lose her mind.   She yelled at me for the same thing four times last night."   So my wife doesn't say anything and then he gives us this gem.   "She's so bad that I just look at her and wait for the drool to run down her fat chin".

That's a husband, talking about the woman he married.   Yeesh!

You should wear a go-pro to Christmas next year, lol.

When my wife was pregnant we bought a portable video recorder.  One of the small handhelds, nothing elaborate.   The first time we filmed something my in-laws got into an argument over why the ice cube tray didn't work in their refrigerator.   It hasn't worked since my wife was in college.

I did use it one Christmas.  My MIL said something along the lines of she didn't want to be on video.   My FIL said "the camera doesn't want you either, believe me!"

Gone from the funny to absolute horror.   My wife took the kids down to my in-laws yesterday.   Aside from them fighting, she saw my father-in-laws TV room which usually has the door closed.   Filthy, with stacks and stacks of mail and bills piled up, so much clutter it looked like an episode of Hoarders.   He had a path carved out to his chair.   And a rifle.  A freaking rifle laying out.   In no un-certain terms is she leaving their house when our kids are there anymore.   And I am contacting a therapist to try and help me figure out the best way to approach this situation, including trying to get my wife to see their mental illnesses and hopefully they can get some help too.

Thanks for the kind words from people here, either here or in PMs.   It would just be wrong for me to laugh this off or make fun of them when it's just so twisted.   So my posting on this topic is finished.

My Ex MIL had lost her mind -- would get suckered by any telemarketer; watched Fox News and was paranoid of everything, told my Ex to get mace to protect her from me even though the Ex and I lived in the same house during the divorce and after the divorce. We got along fine ... just not marriage material. Yes, Ex got the mace and found no excuse to use it ...  nutz.

    • I didn't select any of the responses.  My wife loves to play golf, plays regularly with me, plays plenty on her own or with other people.  I have freedom to play with my own buddies when I want, go on golf trips with them.  She likes to watch hockey, and doesn't mind at all watching football and baseball.  So with the golf and other sports stuff, I don't know how much better I could have it.
    • I'm not sure which ones are supported.  I know gc2 and unekoor are.  I use a gc2.   It is simulator software for people with LM.  You can play solo games or play in league tournaments.   It's not just a league for people with existing simulator software.  As you can tell from the website information and from this comment: GS Pro is the software that you download and use; you don't use other software like FSX or something.  The draw is simple: it's the best simulator software I've ever used and it's a good price.  It's currently in beta, and they working to get it finished.  The beta is really good though.  I'm enjoying it and so are my wife and kids. I also attached pix of a project I did over the fall right before winter hit.  I used to hit balls on my LM outside into a net.  Couldn't do it if it rained or was too hot or too cold.  So, I decided, as a temporary solution until we build or buy our next house, that I would make a golf tent.  It's turned out pretty well so far.  I don't leave anything out in the tent except for my mat.  I never leave my clubs, the LM, computer, projector, stuff like that out there since it is just a temporary structure.
    • I wasn't talking about you or me.  😉 I was talking about the selfish folks.  I don't see them at WalMart any more. Thanks, she's getting better . . . but now a Snowbird couple we know have it in Orange Beach, exposed by the deny-er boyfriend of their next door neighbor, who got it at the bar.  He is a retired healthcare worker, and they are just quarantining for now, hoping it doesn't get worse. My friend had gotten groceries for the neighbor, and left them at her door.  The boyfriend came to thank him, and wouldn't back off, got in his face and stuck a 20 in his shirt pocket.  A 20, and COVID.
    • I use a gc2.  Look into it and let me know.
    • Well, I don’t have a wife yet 😂. But I WILL say this. There’s this girl that I really like, and she’s showing a decent level of interest in golf. I suggested she come to TopGolf with me one day, just for something fun. She said she would, but she would also like to actually play. Don’t know when we’re gonna play (probably when it warms up again in the spring), but I think she’ll enjoy it.
