I've been Playing Golf for: 5 years
My current handicap index or average score is:   8
My typical ball flight is: low

Videos:

I know my swing is flat, but that is the only way I seem to stay "somewhat" consistent. I really would like to get my hands higher but it just doesn't seem to work for me. Maybe someone could give me some pointers on where to start?

When you post the video link, remember to remove formatting or post as plain text and it will imbed.

To make any swing change, you have to do it slowly at first. It may take weeks to make it automatic. But trying to change it doing full speed swings will take a lot longer. Check out the thread below on how to practice. I do a lot of mirror work, sometimes for only 5 minutes at a time.

Also, the flatness may not be your number one issue. If you could post a face on swing, it would help too. That will help us see what might be causing the low flight.

Thanks boogielicious, reading through that link was very informative. Now, what to focus on. I noticed a couple things I'm doing that may be causing the inconsistencies. 1. Very flat shoulder turn. 2. I am dipping down in my backswing. Which one would u recommend I start working on first...or is one the result of the other?

Post a face on view of your swing. That will really help determine what you should work on first. It could be simple like weight forward drills. The flat swing may not be the main culprit. There are PGA pros that have flat swings.

    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
