How do people go about doing this? Is it purely trial and error, if that is the case it seems like it could an expensive proposition. Most places that I have gone to that do fittings usually have one or two options and they might not be in the clubs that I like so I could try different shafts but because they are in different clubs I don't really have a solid baseline to compare.

The reason I ask is because I am really fighting a baloon ball and have heard that the right shaft can help trajectory. (currently playing pro combo os with the stock speed step in a stiff flex. I heard this shaft is a high trajectory shaft which may be contributing to my problem.)

Thanks.

When I do a full fitting, I watch a players swing and use the launch monitor to gather numbers. Based on that I'll start trying certain shafts until I get the numbers I want out of that club.
