Hi All,

After lurking the forum since I started golfing I've decided to take advantage of the wealth of knowledge you all possess!

The biggest issue I'm having is that I don't feel "loaded" at the top of my backswing so I over extend it and get out of position. When I focus on creating the proper angles and positions I lose all power.

Thanks for checking it out and I'm eager to hear your feedback!

I've been Playing Golf for:  Two years
My current handicap index or average score is: Mid 80s if I'm playing my best.
My typical ball flight is: Cut (slicer in denial)
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: irons tend to be thin, the driver take a big slice when I'm off my game.

I wasn't able to get a snapshot of your swing to show you, but your right elbow looks like it is getting stuck behind your shirt seam on the downswing. This can cause the club to overtake the hands and make the swing more out-to-in leading to fades and slices. Check out the video and thread below. Also, post a face on video if you can. That will help too.

Thanks Boogie!

The video you posted is extremely informative and I'm excited for my next practice range session to put some of those tips to use. I'll take a head on video the next time that I'm there as well.

Cheers,

Happy golf season!

Here are a couple of shots I hit on the range this past week. I've been trying to transition away from am "armsy" swing but it seems as though it's still a big challenge to get into the correct position at the top.

It seems as though my takeaway is solid but then things get a bit under the plane from there. I'm unsure how to rectify this, specifically whether it's a matter of actively lifting my left arm or some other factor.

All feedback is very much appreciated.

Welcome to The Sand Trap and thanks for posting. I would start with getting your hip turn more centered. You are swaying back on the backswing and that makes it hard to get your weight forward on the downswing. I can lead to a bunch of issues too.

    • Down the line and face on from today. Still feeling like I’m sticking the club into a hole in the ceiling above my right shoulder and then big loop inside to start downswing. That’s how it feels. Not how it looks though! Gotta keep working on this for a bit but I see a lot of progress. 😁
    • Day 5 (13 Mar 26) - Friday shootout cancelled- made it a practice round working from mixed tees. Plenty of up and down work around greens.  Best was a hole out birdie on the par 3 #5 hole - nice pitch and roll w/Pw from about 10yds off the green - dead center flagstick drop.  Much of round was focused on getting solid weight shift into lead foot.
    • Day 208 3-13 Worked on wrist arching and flow. First time hitting reall balls at a range in months. It was nice to see ball flight. Still not sure it beats my backyard practice station.
    • Three hole match - microphones on in the cart. It's fascinating listening to them talk about their shots and how they play them. I'm not normally a huge fan of the TM videos - they seem forced to me - but this one doesn't. It's also fun seeing their competitiveness over what on the face of it is a fairly meaningless 3 holes, but they can't help themselves.
