I've recently been looking for some new clubs and came across the Ben Hogan Ptx irons which I decided to give them a try. Since no golf shops really carry them you can demo their irons direct for the cost of shipping ($20) and if you decide to buy a set they will take that cost off of the irons. After receiving them today I headed out to the range to hit some balls and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with them. The ball comes off of the face pretty soft and has some forgiveness, definitely need to be a decent ball striker to play them though. What I like most about the irons is that they sell them in one degree increments from 18 to 48 degrees which allows you to build a set to your own loft/gapping spec. Each club has the loft stamped in bottom of the club as opposed to numbers (7, 8, 9 etc). If you're looking for an Ap2 ish club they are definitely worth a try. If anyone has any questions about them I'll do my best to answer them and if people are interested I can write an in depth review of them, I'll have them for about 3 weeks.

    • The club I choose entirely depends on the situation and what kind of shot I want to hit. I’ll hit 9i from 50 yards if that low runner is what I’m looking for, for example.
    • Since there’s still snow on the ground, I’ve been mindlessly scrolling and came across Bryson talking about his Jumbomax grips. Going down yet another equipment rabbit hole, I watched a video of him talking about how it helps him stay tight in the fingers and hands but supple in the wrists.  3.2K views · 23 reactions | Bryson Explains Why He Plays JumboMax... Bryson DeChambeau explains why he plays #jumboMaxgrips. This made me think of this thread on grip pressure.  Another part I found interesting is them talking about the benefit of being able to have the club in the fingers and in the palms, agin the purpose being to remove tension in the wrists and forearms.  Here’s a video of Iacas explaining the importance of having the grip in fingers and when you have the grip in the palm it severely decreases your range of motion.  In theory, it seems like it would provide the ability to keep a firm grip in the fingers while decreasing tension in the unwanted areas. But, is that benefit outweighed with a decrease in your range of motion? Interested to see if anyone has tried these and what their results were.
