I posted this in a different section and i think it was the wrong one.

So I'll post it here.

Looking to get some information on the golf week amatuer tour in Chicago.  Or any golf week amatuer tour reguardless what city.

ive never played in a tournament before so I have no idea what to expect the leagues and stuff like that around me are all night or senior leagues and I work 2-10pm so that is out of the question.

Had anyone played in one of these tours

if so how did you like it? Was it a smooth running operation or like a big cluster of confusion? My friend I go golfing with every weekend wants to do it to but he won't research anything to try to figure it out before hand.

I notcied there were 4 flights of players so then I would have to register for usga which isn't a big deal.

and the tour had a registration fee of like 200$ I think. Was it worth it?

Just an overall experience of the quality of the tour would be awesome to hear from someone.

I played the Golf Weekly Amateur Tour in North Carolina for 2 seasons. It was alot of fun, I enjoyed it.

Ours always ran very smooth. Some tournaments took longer than others depending on how hard the courses were. The Majors always took 5+ hours to play because people took it way too serious.

I played mostly in the A flight, but there were a few weeks my handicap would go below a 4 and i would have to play that week in the Championship flight. Overall its alot of fun competing against people the same skill level as you. I won 3 tournaments and had a ton of top 10's.

Our member fee was like $100 and every tournament you entered was like $75. Got to play a bunch of private courses so the $$$ wasnt that big of a deal.

Overall it was pretty cool, I would def sign up for it if you like playing in tournaments.

    • I’d go with the Titleist if you liked the look of the blades but were suffering with distance. They should be a little more forgiving than a full blade and still retain some workability. Also remember to consider the shafts each have as this will be a big contributor to how they feel. Clemsonfan is right though… get fit or spend a bit of time on a launch monitor 🤙
    • Day 28: 2026.01.30 Managed to make time for a few swings out back today. Need a proper bit of range time this weekend.
    • Day 30, 1/30.  Six minutes this morning hitting a few more range balls, indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Did this before leaving the house.

    • Hi All my New Year’s resolution was to start playing golf again. I’ve caught the bug and am really enjoying hitting balls at a couple of my local ranges.looking forward to getting back out on courses in the spring. Based in the UK and 38 years old, I’ve been playing since I was a kid. Best handicap I’ve held is 2 in my mid 20s. Over the past 10 years I’ve played once or twice a year, sometimes with friends or for work. Could shoot 4-5 over, but just as easily shoot 15-20 over. I’ve moved to South Wales and am very lucky to be near some world class links courses, which gives me even more motivation to get playing again! I will start looking for a local coach in my area when I have more time to invest, but I recalled scouring this forum a few years ago and finding some good tips and advice so wanted to give it a try to see if there were any glaring issues I could fix in the meantime!  A few swings below… one from 1st week Jan and one from today. I have fixed my P1 takeaway to my liking and am now working on what I see as pretty severe early extension & hip thrust. Also terrible hip rotation. I’d like confirmation that this is indeed a problem and and suggestions on a few good drills. Thanks for reading 🙂 I've been Playing Golf for: 30+ years My current handicap index or average score is: 10ish over My typical ball flight is: mid The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: push right with irons, hooks and push with driver!  Videos:
