I've been Playing Golf for: 5 years
My current handicap index or average score is: 3
My typical ball flight is: Draw with irons + fairway woods; all of the above with driver.
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Blocks, pull hooks.

Hi! I'm hoping to crowdsource some tips to help deal with my erraticism with the driver (and hopefully have it leak down through the rest of my set). My typical misses are big blocks to the right or pulls that are long, left, and drawing. I've posted a DTL and face on of my driver swing. When I look at these swings I see lost spine tilt, high hands/arm overrun (with little width), and a hilarious knee drive (and some foot action that belongs in a batter's box...guess what sport I played before I took up golf...). I just can't sort it out on my own. If you have an analysis or any tips, feels, drills, etc., that might help please feel free to lay it on me--I'm all ears. Thanks!

Welcome to the Sand Trap. The swing looks pretty good overall. For the down-the-line view, have the camera line up with your toe line. That gives a better view of the swing positions.

I think you may get more consistency if you shortened the backswing a bit. It looks good until the very top where you lose your axis tilt and spine angle and your hips shift back a bit. Check out the thread below. You won't lose power either.

    • Day 86: Played 18 this morning at my home course. Approach play was poor, short game was decent and kept score from getting out of hand.
    • From your description, you need to work on a consistent-ish club face at impact. Most practice swings have open faces and variable paths due to the conscious thought that goes into them, so you need to swing at a ball for us to help.
    • thinking of experimenting with shorter shaft in driver. i know shortening the length will throw off swing weight and i will play with lead tape to see what changes i can make as i progress but my main question was about the shaft and stiffness.  i normally play a stiff so would it be beneficial to get an extra stiff 5-wood shaft to compensate for club head weight?
