Hello All, Thank you in advance for your help. I have only been playing golf for 2 years but have fallen in love with the game and I strive to get better. I know with the wealth of knowledge on this forum someone will be able to provide insight on how to get better. (video was done on the 15th? hole at Belle Terre Country Club in Laplace Louisiana.) Let me know if I need to upload any additional videos. Thank you again for your help! -Amessina

I've been Playing Golf for: 2 years
My current handicap index or average score is: 95-100
My typical ball flight is: all over the place
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: slice (starts straight then turns right)

Hi @Amessina welcome to TST.

One down the line (DTL) swing is not enough to give you a complete assessment. I can only offer a few thoughts with a DTL swing. Ideally I can also get a face on version because I suspect some things we can improve in your backswing but need to see it from the front view to confirm it.

That said I recommend 2 threads for you. One is about slicing. Best thing you can do is understand why you slice. This thread is excellent for that.

Second one is a video to help to keep your right shoulder in its proper place on the backswing. You let your right arm get behind you and you need to fix that as well.

    • @DeadMan, I think your approach makes sense. As @dennyjones said, consistency is the key.
    • Day 204 (22 Nov 24) - Weekly men’s group round today.  Temps in the upper 40’s, WNW winds 5-15mph - was the old man in the foursome (next youngest is my junior by 10yrs) - held my own against them.  Iron play getting more consistent -seeing predictable ball flights and distances. While the consistency coming around still had sone solid negatives as I had two dbls and one triple. On the plus side - eight pars and one birdie.
    • I don't think anyone will really care.   It's your call.  Just be consistent.
    • I agree, until we are watching the 18th hole in the dark or waiting for the champion to finish and it's been 5+ hours
    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
