MARS SPECTACULAR!

The Red Planet is about to be spectacular! This month and next,
Earth is catching up with Mars in an encounter that will culminate in the
closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. The next
time Mars may come this close is in 2287. Due to the way Jupiter's gravity
tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be certain that
Mars has not come this close to Earth in the Last 5,000 years, but it may
be as long as 60,000 years before it happens again.

The encounter will culminate on August 27th when Mars comes to
within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and will be (next to the moon) the
brightest object in the night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9 and
will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide. At a modest 75-power magnification

Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. Mars
will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August it will rise in the East
at 10 P.M. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m.

By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will
rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30 A.M.
That's pretty convenient to see something that no human being has seen in recorded history.
So, mark your calendar at the beginning of August to see Mars grow progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month.

Share this with your children and grandchildren.

NO ONE ALIVE TODAY WILL EVER SEE THIS AGAIN

I'll be looking foreword to seeing Mars when it is so visible. BTW, looks like you've got a nice headcover company... I had a look around and it seems like you've got some quality products there. Maybe we need a design for "The Sand Trap."

    • I’ve been seriously considering the QuadMAX lately, but it seems like such overkill for individual use. One can dream…   Day 3 - Played around with setup, swinging while standing too close, too far away, and “just right.” Need to film this stuff, since I know feeling too close is where I should be.
    • Day 157 - 2025-03-06 Got the QuadMAX back today. Was going to spend a good 60 minutes practicing, but spent it on the phone as they fixed the front panel, but… the ethernet port wasn't fixed. So that's great. 😛 Got some time in working on some chipping with a student earlier in the day.
    • Day 230: did a stack session.
    • I like this one. Wyndham has two golf swings. With his driver he is pretty much elite from a force plate and 3D measurement perspective. With his irons, he doesn't use his legs correctly. Weight transfer from right heel to left toe instead of weight going to the back heel of the left leg. Soft left leg through impact. Way more upper body focused, and so much that his kinematic sequence was off with the irons. The torso was starting before the lower body.  I think some good drills in the video. Hitting the ball with the right foot back to force him to post on the left leg sooner. Then you can start creeping the right foot back to the address position.  I like the gym drills for practicing correct kinematic sequence. Just really focusing on the legs driving the arm movement. It is just good offseason work as well, and in season. You don't always need a club to work on something related to the golf swing.  I still nitpick on them saying that you push off with the right foot. 😁
    • Mar 6 2025.  Caught up on posting - feel like I’m off to a solid start - 6 of 18 holes have birdies and parred all at my local course.
