Got it narrowed down between these. I shoot around 82-85!bought the xr pros and struggle slightly. I find a lot of my shots going off  the mower center or center of the toe. It's been a struggle.  Went and hit a lot of irons and these were the two I was closest wth and consistent with. What would you recommend and why? Have you hit either and just your overall thoughts please

Are you hitting lower center of face? An  image of an impact face decal would be useful.

If you are hitting ball low and slicing, the clubs may be too long, or the shaft too stiff. If it's center toe, your irons might be too short. Or, you might have a swing flaw (you end up pulling hands slightly toward body on downswing.) An instructor who fits clubs might be a place to start.

As far as the hardware goes, I have hit both models of irons multiple times:

TM RSi 1 - Regarded as the most user-friendly of the RS** series, it is a GI club with a stock REAX 90 steel shaft. I had done a TST test on the SLDR irons - with Speed Pockets in sole - which TM put out the year before. The RSi 1 and 2 models had the addition of Face Slots at the left and right end of the grooves on the clubface.

A comparison of YouTube clips by pro Mark Shiels showed pretty much the same trajectory for the SLDR and the RSi 1 (hint: the RS Face Slots won't help much on a toe shot outside the face grooves).

The RSi 1 felt OK, but the slightly smaller head of the RSi 2 felt better but didn't fly quite as far.

Calla XR Pro - I try to hit all the Callaway stuff, and got some "quality time" with XR.P on a couple of demo days. This model comes with KBS Tour V90 shaft as stock. It had a better feel than the straight-up XR.  (Fitters normally put me with GI head and R-flex steel shafts circa 95 grams.)

Advice -  As I noted above, your problems might be lie angle, too firm a shaft, shaft length or you might have a swing flaw. Get a fitting, and find out what the launch monitor numbers say.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
