Just bought some like new from Callaway Preowned clubs two Cobra hybrids.   I bought a 4 and a 5 hybrid.  Both have the fly z shaft in light flex.  Both look like they were hardly used.  One has a winn dry tac grip in 1/16" oversize and one ( the 4) has some kind on jumbo type grip.  It is almost the same size from top to bottom.  I use a standard grip my self which is about right from how you tell if you have the right grip.  Anyway I took both clubs out to my hitting net in my yard and took a couple of good balls to hit.  I also put the stickers on the face so I could tell where I was hitting the ball .  I started  off the small matt I have.  I used the 5 first.  The club feels good when swinging it.  It almost has no sound when you hit the ball which I don't care for.  I tried the 4 with the jumbo grip and I could never hit the ball in the center of the face.  I tried to hit on the matt and then went to the grass.  Didn't really seem to make any  difference.  I could do fairly well with the 5.  I just wonder if the grip could make that kind of difference.  I always hit the ball low on the face.  I really figured the club would have a good tink sound but it doesn't.  I went back a read a couple of reviews and they said it doesn't have much sound.  I took the stickers off the face and just barley punched the ball with both clubs and the sound just isn't there.  I have a callaway 6 and a callaway 3 hybrid and they sound completely different.  You can really tell when you hit  the sweetspot with the callaways but I don't know how its going to be with the Cobras.  Does anyone use these clubs and what do they think about them?

I had bought some Cobra Fly Z irons 6 through pw so I got these hybrids to go with them.  I am going to regrip all of them with standard Winn Dry Tac grips.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
