I've been a fan of the hybrid club ever since I got a set of Dunlop Loco's it had a 17* and 21* Hybrid, the set also had a 3W but I couldn't play it so I alternated the 2 hybrids in my games. Later on I switched to cleveland hibore XL hybrids one 16*(1i) and 19*(2i). I sold these (needed the cash) and got TN Rescue Dual TPs (3 hybrids 19*, 22* and 25*) later on when they went on sale, I have since then sold the 22* and the 25* and opted to keep the 19* as it was custom fitted with a different shaft.

Now I finally a got a 3W (Ping G10 15.5*) I could reasonably hit and also received a Ping G10 21* Hybrid as a gift, which is now my go to club. Now I'm starting to think do I really need 2 hybrid clubs considering I can hit the 21* almost if not as far as the 19*? Given that i Can now hit a 3W, do I give up either hybrid? If so which one would you suggest?

Thank you in advance.

What do you guys think?

It's all about distance gaps and what you are comfortable with. Also, what would you add if you dropped the second hybrid... probably a wedge, would you then need to buy three wedges, or do you have a gap in the wedge area that could be easily filled with one club. I go back and forth in my game on what I think would be better, but as of now I carry 2 hybrids. If I dropped one... I could carry a 50*, 54*, 58* or 52*, 56*, 60* or some such 3 wedge configuration. Or you could just have both options ready and throw the best setup in the bag for the course you are playing that day.

Do as i do.. take all of your clubs to the range. you would have 13 in your bag, and see how your hitting. you would have say your extra hybrid, spare wedge, or maybe 5 wood as an alternate, this way, you can see which hybrid is playing better that day, and if there not going well, you would want to add the wedge for more options around the greens you will miss if its a bad hybrid day, and vice versa if its a good hybrid day. personally, i cant hit hybrids, so im actually lookin for long irons, so im not much of a help there, but i can say that hybrids arent the most conisitent, meaning ive seen guys hit their 200 yard average hybrid 180-215 with the same swing, so ive never been up on the two hybrid idea. if you do take one, take the stronger lofted, you can always choke down, and adjust the ball position. my two cents/.

I thought you did a good job answering your own question.

...considering I can hit the 21* almost if not as far as the 19*?

Drop the 19 if this is true. Why do you need two clubs that perform the same?

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
