I really like this idea. I played sports throughout college and high school and I consider myself super competitive. I meant I played 5-8 rounds in prior years. This year I plan to play at the very least once a week. I imagine you're leaning towards a blade set, can you recommend any?

That's why I put "challenging set of irons" and it doesn't necessarily mean blades.

I honestly can't really tell you straight which irons are for you (you'll have to find it yourself). Demo some clubs, the toughest clubs you can still use and find your confidence (and comfortable) with. In addition, the two well known irons manufacturers (aside from Miura, Epon, etc) are Mizuno and Titleist. You might want to start from there. For Mizuno you definitely (from my own experience) need to try the MP-57 first then slowly go up to MP-60, 32, and 67 if MP-57 is too err...easy for you. Titleist has recently released their new lines of irons. There's an article recently on sandtrap about them, you might want to read it. As you know, new irons are pricey because well...they're just new. Last year's models that you might want to check are 690CB or 695CB, 775CB, and 755. Long irons are notoriously known tougher to use than short irons. If you're able to hit them consistently good - all power to you. If not, there's always a hybrid. It's meant to replace long irons in your set. In short words, you can order a set from whichever lowest iron you're comfortable with (eg. 4-PW or 5-PW) and look for hybrids to fill the gap. Last but not least, the above is just my opinion. Feel free to use or disregard it. The irons that I'm referring to you is cavity-back blade type. No pure blades or big bulky game improvement irons there. I believe it's pretty much the toughest irons you can still use. I hope it'll help you to hone up your skills.

Well I went to a Golfers Warehouse to test out all the pings to find out what dot and length would work best for me. Ended up being the green dots with standard length.

So in my bad now is a set of Ping i5's green dots. I can just just from setting up with them they are going to work nice with my swing. Cant wait to hit them off some grass.

Quick sidenote was that my club head speed with the driver was a consistent 121. I over-swung once and pulled a 123 and the driver made the loudest ping noise that my ears were ringing.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

    • Current state of the program.  I can only do 25-50% swing speed, probably under 50% since I was hitting the ball out to the 150 yard marker (yay!),  to get the arms down and somewhat turn the body through impact. I mean somewhat. Arms down + body turn don't like to mesh at all. Anything faster and the body does stupid uncoordinated stuff. Mostly, I am stuck in the old pattern of staling the turn and flipping at the ball.  So, until I see progress. I am not posting anything here.
    • Thanks for the video! Do you think a ball between the arms type of training aid would get me in a better position? I also have a Tour Striker Swing Trainer (PlaneMate-like contraption) if that could be helpful.
    • There are some little things here and there — the shoulder turn is a bit flat, and the arms move around you a bit too much too. Take a look at this video:
    • I've developed a serious case of the shanks and difficult to control push fades/slices with my irons lately. I used to draw my irons pretty consistently. I currently most draw driver. Also, I don't like how my elbow sometimes pops out from down the line, especially with driver and/or if I'm trying to hit it harder. I can control the elbow a lot better with irons, but quite difficult to have good contact and speed while controling it on driver.
