Semi longtime lurker, figured it was time to create an account.

I am 32, been playing once or twice a week in the summer months (northern Mich) for around 5 years now. Handicap is probably around 95, havent gotten official with it or anything. I received my first lesson earlier this summer mainly to try and fix issues with missing right/slicing with longer clubs. It seemed to be less over the top and more leaving the face open coming through. I played 12-15 years of baseball, basketball, and football so came into golf kind of late. Consider the lack of opportunity to play my old sports any longer, golf is now my sport and will be until I get to old to swing a club.

My distance is pretty solid, hit driver 275ish, 3w 235ish, and down through pw around 150 (although I think that pw distance is party attributable to it being a 44 deg so kinda strong for a pw). Im decent at just about everything, but struggle with getting off the tee box in good shape and long irons. Pretty sharp 7 iron and in, day to day okish on my short game. Most annoying thing i do is hit 1/3 shots per hole fat/thin/toe/heel, i.e. just enough to keep me from having better scores overall. I will probably post a swing video sometime soon for some expert analysis on here.

I think what is unique about how I feel about golf is my passion and stubborness on playing shots how I think they should play instead of playing for a score. Like Im usually disgusted if i thin a 7 iron from like 170 yards and it rolls all the way up on the green. I care less about the result than how it got there! I just love and have a passion for seeing the ball fly correctly for any given club. So if im 205 yards out on my 2nd shot on a par 5 over water, im still reaching for like a 4-5 iron to see if i can make it. I would rather try and fail than lay up. Stupid for scoring, but its how I approach the game.

Probably tl;dr but wanted to introduce myself and why i love the game. Just thought I would say hello and look forward to discussing golf stuff on here for the next 40-50 years ;).

Howdy and welcome

Carry on my wayward drive

There'll be pars when you are done

Lay your weary wedge to rest

Don't you shank no more
