Hello Everyone,

Just wondering if there is anyone else out there who bought a Nintendo Wii just for Tiger Woods Golf?

Has been fun curing the winter blues up here in Northern NY, and is at least semi realistic without having to worry about putting a club through the ceiling. Putting is difficult, but you get the hang of it.

Anyone have any other ways of curing the winter blues while seeing nothing but beautiful courses on the TV?

Hello Everyone,

My wife just got the Wii and I just bought Tiger... my initial reaction was that it was very mediocre... I think Xbox 360 and PS3 got the best versions. Maybe it'll grow on me as I play it more?

best way to kill winter blues is vacation. I will be playing 6-10 rounds while I'm in NC later this month.

I like it for seeing facsimiles of great courses that I might not get to play.

I'm pretty sure I know Pebble and a few others like the back of my hand... now if only I could PLAY them for real.

I play TW08 on the Wii. I just have to get accustomed to the swing so I can hit at a power rating other than 110%.

Yeah, it is definitely an adjustment period before you figure out how to really swing in the game. Putting has been the most difficult part. It is wonderful almost feeling like you are at the course though, and seeing such nice tracks from the first person is wonderful.

I'm golden with the putting. It's my approach shots that kill me. I have to club down 2 clubs at least and I still end up over-shooting my mark.

Wii is great. Finally a game system where gamers and non gamers can play together. I used to have a PS2, and my wife hates it when I play it, cause she doesn't play, and she can't watch TV. Now, we play Wii together.

For Tiger Woods 2008, the realism is not the mechanics. Sure you can fade and draw, swing hard or take it easy. But I set the difficulty to easy. I have 3 Aces, longest drive 368yrds, longest putt 92yrds, lowest round 59. How real is that?
But the realism is the objective of golf. You feel good when hit GIR, you feel frustrated if you lose a hole to your opponent, etc. The up's and down's of golf, a challenge, that's what I like

How different is Tiger Woods from Wii Sports Golf? Because my roomate and I have a daily contest during the winter with Wii Sports Golf but are getting kind of tired of the same thing over and over again...

Wii Sports Golf is better. TW has pretty bad control. In 2007, you couldn't even putt the ball beyond 40 feet. The control was horrible.

The Wii is almost BUILT for a golf game, yet nobody can build a golf game that really takes advantage of it. Supposedly "We Love Golf" is pretty sweet, even if it is one of those cutesy Japanese games.

I think that TW07/08 has better gameplay, but it takes a little to get used to the swing (once you start, don't stop). I think both are better than the Wii Sports overall, but at the same time, I love being able to pop into the Wii Sports Golf and play through it so quickly. The training games are almost more fun than playing a round.

The golf games are fun. I also played a lot of Wii during the silly season, finally got a break in the weather to play a round and found it really screwed w/ my short game. I was leaving everything short, trying to finesse everything like you have to in the Wii games.

Has any one played Guitar Hero or Rock Band? 2 very addicting games.

cheers

guitar hero is really addictive, I just wish more songs were available...

Anyway, TW was somewhat dissappointing on the wii. Putting was pretty difficult, and I never did get used to the swing sequence.

I just ordered a launchpad to use with my laptop and the pc version. I'll set it up in my heated garage and use it for rounds as well as a virtual driving range. I've read that the launchpad only records swing speed, but I'll at least be able to swing and hit something while its freezing outside.

Been playing TW08 for the Wii since it came out last year. The Wii remote definately makes the game a little more involved. The graphics are not as good as the PS3 or the Xbox360, but that's the difference in the systems. Those systems are designed for more demanding gamers, and the Wii is designed for families (non-gamers). Probably why the Wii has dominated the other two in popularity.

Just got Guitar Hero III for the Wii last night, mainly for my son . I really didn't have much interest in the game. Kinda seems like an updated version of the game Simon from back in the '80's, but I was curious. I ended up playing it for about 2 hours after my son went to bed. Very addictive.

I finally tried the Wii Sports Golf over the weekend. I had just been doing the bowling and boxing prior to that. I only played 3 holes, twice. First three went quad, double, par. Played them again and went bogey, bogey, par. It takes a little getting used to. I have not tried Tiger 08 yet. I may rent it this weekend and give it a shot before buying it.
