  1. No offense, but your advice doesn't really make sense to me. First, I've never heard anyone claim that the back leg straightening leads to spin out. And for that matter, I've never heard anyone talk about spin out during the backswing. Second, he doesn't have a reverse pivot. Weight predominately back and then it is predominately forward. Lastly, in my opinion the fall away is due to attempt to balance himself and to create axis tilt. Try swinging with your feet together and see if it looks similar to his motion.
  2. Widen your stance... also, I would suggest turning your feet out a little. However, the biggest problem I see is that your hips have no lateral movement. Thats why you have to fall away to create axis tilt.
  3. You are very welcome.
  4. Its a golf forum; people usually talk about golf. If thats getting old, then maybe you should go to a forum dedicated to talking about basketball or soccer.
  5. Why so harsh? Seems extremely unnecessary. So the OP finds it interesting.... big deal.
  6. It definitely looks like its taking shape. I mean you still have problems, but it certainly looks more athletic. If you get the chance I would definitely go see Dana (Long Beach). He would get you where you want to be much, much faster.
  7. During your backswing you need to feel the right hand pushing away from you. Try to feel like the right arm is straightening while at the same time keeping the elbow on your rib cage. That should keep the bend at your elbow closer to a 90* angle. Also, you are setting up with your hips too level. Your belt buckle should be looking more at the ball than at the horizon. To accomplish that you need to bend more at the waist, rather than with your back. You can take a club and lay it across your belt loops and then push back, and that should help you get into that position. Once you get done with that you need to start working on getting the hips more lateral. On the golf evo youtube channel Dave has a great drill that you should work on. Its called the post drill I think.
  8. I love the post/door frame drill that Dave has on youtube. Getting that feeling of the separation of the hips and the upper body is key in my opinion. That way you don't get the upper center traveling with the hips. Once you get that feeling I think a lot of people need to feel the shoulders stay closed longer during the downswing. Give the hips time to do their job.
  9. The right arm really shouldn't be straight until after impact. I'd agree that you are straightening it too soon or at the very least too worried about it. I'd be more worried about your sequencing. Get your hips moving more laterally before you start unwinding. Then just go after it.
  10. No to Butch. I don't think I could go back to arms off the body. Doesn't make much sense to me. No to Leadbetter. Worked with one of his guys before and it didn't go well. Maybe to Foley. Seems like we would probably get along, but I think there are better options if I truly could pick any teacher. No to Haney. Flat shoulder turn doesn't make any sense to me. Worked with some of the kids that came out of his academy as well, and wasn't very impressed. No to Breed. The Michael Pe ña clip is funny though. Maybe to Hardy. Seems like I would agree with some of the stuff that he teaches, but again, if I could pick from anyone.... Voted for Mike and Andy, but I wouldn't mind working with the golf evo guys or iteach.
  11. I think the point Erik is making, is what is the swing thought connected to? Does the swing thought help you push off the ground or to tuck your butt, etc.? Swing thoughts are fine as long as they are connected to something real. Otherwise who knows what you are accomplishing.
  12. Its not just 1:00 of video sadly. He has implied that to draw the ball you need to close the clubface through impact many times. Its kind of basic knowledge that this is incorrect. And I was talking about this: Quote: About Jeff Ritter - Golf Teaching Professional - Stack and Tilt ... - Jan 16 Jeff Ritter is a golf teaching professional and expert on stack and tilt ... But yea, I saw that one as well.
  13. Go to google and search his name. Then look at the 5th link.
  14. If by straight flush, he means straight pull hooks... then yes.
  15. Ball more forward and teed up means that you are more apt to be hitting closer to the front side of the circle (out-in).
  16. To me its like this, I understand the theory of a car engine, but if you pulled one apart and then asked me to put it together I would be rather lost. Thats essentially what Foley did. He gave the vaguest and most basic view of what he teaches. The confusion doesn't come in understanding those points, but rather in the implementation of those points. IE: Keeping the head still. Foley did this in the DVD and on TGC. He says to keep your head still, but doesn't explain how to do that. One might think, "how hard can that be... he doesn't need to explain that." Well then why did we see Foley teaching Tiger how to when they first started working together? If Tiger needs the explanation, I think it seems logical to give some kind of explanation to the masses.
  17. When I posted that last night I couldn't figure out which was funnier, the fact that he tells you not to do something that every great golfer does/has done or the fact that he is doing what he says not to. Either way... wow
  18. Never seen it, but I posted one of the guys videos in your other thread. My advice is don't.
  19. "Kiss of death in golf?" Sure worked for Hogan. I'm not so sure I agree with what the guy is saying, but anyways.. Maybe Erik or someone can post the photo that goes with this. My pics are on another computer. 1) Extension: Straightening of the spine. Like I said, to feel it just stand up out of your posture using your back. Its pretty self explanatory; you are extending your spine. 2) Tilt or lean: The spine leans to the left. If you are standing up with your hands at your side you just move the left hand/shoulder towards your left knee. 3) Rotation: Again, self explanatory. You are simply rotating your shoulders. If you do that correctly you will notice that you will go from leaning left toward the target to leaning left towards the golf ball once you rotate your shoulders. This is what Foley was breaking down for Tiger when they first started working together. The video is still on youtube I think. As for the knees/leg work. When you take your backswing, your back leg will actually straighten (amount depends on person). Don't force the back leg to stay bent.
  20. There lies the problem with lessons/tips online... haha. No worries though, its an improvement I think (would need to see the same DTL angle to know). So your left shoulder is definitely going down now, but you need to work on extending your spine. We break down the movement of the spine into three pieces: extension, tilt, and rotation. You are trying to match those rates to keep your head still (vertically and laterally). What is happening is that you have no extension. Put more simply, you need to stand up at the same rate you lean and turn. A good way to get the feeling for it is to get into your address posture and then stand up without taking the bend out of your knees. Then take some slow practice swings and work on feeling those rates. A good drill for you would be to put your head up against a door frame in your address posture and take those same slow practice swings. If the head drops, then you need to start extending sooner or at a faster rate. And don't get frustrated... I think you are pretty close. Oh and one more thing, I would turn your feet out just a little. I think its going to help get your hips moving a little better/easier.
  21. Hard without seeing your swing, but generally, weight forward.
  22. Weight looks slightly towards your heels. Whats the miss?
  23. Thought for starting the backswing should be left shoulder down. Feel like you are pushing your left shoulder straight down to your left foot. Let the left shoulder push the arms/hands/club back, up, and in. Once that shoulder starts going down you wont have to roll your arms to get the club going inside. Your backswing will get much simpler. Watch Tiger and Grant start their backswings and you will see what I'm talking about. Thought for starting the downswing should be getting the hips lateral. As you take your backswing, feel more and more pressure building up in the left foot. Once you get to the top you need to get the hips moving towards the target rather than just turning. You should feel your shoulders staying closed longer. Right now you turn from the top and everything gets open too early. Couple good vids for the DS. Good luck with everything.
  24. I posted this on the main review Quote: I watched it and talk about disappointing... wow. Coming from a guy that seems very intellectual and seems to have a pretty vast vocabulary, his DVD was shockingly shallow. I know he said that it was meant for your average golfer and not for instructors, but looking back, it seems like that was after he watched the DVD himself and realized what he had made. I just have a very hard time thinking that this is what he wanted to make. If you want a better understanding of some of the pieces that Sean talks about in the DVD, I would advise picking up the S&T; book.
