  1. Great testimonial watty ! It's true you can fix yourself to a point but you may miss something. When you think you have it right send a video to The Golf Evolution. They'll be able to fine tune your swing. http://evolvr.thegolfevolution.com/
  2. OK you're right. Use the club that will most comfortably let you pitch and roll to the hole. Perhaps we should recommend using the lob wedge only when no other club will do. For instance when you have to go over a hazard and there's very little green to work with.
  3. When you think about it, the lob wedge (let's say 60° to 64°) is the best club you have for pitching. Pick a target on the green and land it there.
  4. I maintained the 6° difference between my 50° gap wedge and 56° sand wedge by going with a 62° lob wedge.
  5. Thanks; this is a nice compliment to the book.
  6. Very helpful thread. This is what I need to be doing too. On the downswing slide those hips forward but keep the head back. Would it be correct to say it's a "reverse c"?
  7. I would go with the hybrid . You can definitely use it from light rough.
  8. I've put the 3-wood back in the bag! I think the "Fix Your Slice" article by Michael Breed in the February issue of Golf (page 58) is what I needed to see. "Get your upper body over your right foot, with your head behind the ball and your spine tilting away from the target ." Bottom line, with this setup adjustment I feel more confident I will square the club face.
  9. I've got a 62° 12° lob wedge and I use it in the sand when I'm very close to the hole.
  10. He's just changing his irons and balls to Srixon. So he'll have the ultimate mixed bag.
  11. I can hit my 3-wood well off the tee but hit a 40 yard push-fade off the deck. Of course this is embarrassing and unacceptable! Here are a few things I have tried at the range to no avail: Open the stance and go with it (look like a drunken sailor) Close the stance (feels like my left leg is in the way). Strengthen grip (lose distance). Move the ball up in my stance (harder to make good contact). After all that and hearing myself say "I wonder if they make a draw 3-wood" I have come to my senses and removed the offending club from my bag.
  12. I don't think there is any benefit to bending your left arm on the back swing. Better to train yourself to make a full shoulder turn while maintaining good balance. Start with half swings, then three quarters, and then full. When you make good contact the ball will take off like a rocket!
  13. During the winter months I hit these into a blanket in my recreation room.
  14. I'm gonna order this for my golf buddy for a belated Christmas gift. He gave me a gift basket yesterday of assorted dog treats plus some coffee for me. I have hit the BirdieBall off a fairway a couple of years ago and it does work great. I see the set - including 2 dozen BirdieBalls and the StrikePad - is $40.
  15. This fall I got the 9.5* regular flex stock shaft and I really like the club. It was on sale for $150, a great price for a phenomenal driver.
  16. I go for name brands but I don't look to match necessarily. TaylorMade woods, hybrid. Mizuno irons. Cleveland wedges. Odyssey putter. Most important is getting the right shaft flex. For me it's regular.
  17. Thanks for directing me to the http://thesandtrap.com/forum/thread/34692/straightening-the-right-knee-on-the-backswing thread. In that thread iacas said "It's simple geometry - your right leg must lengthen for the right hip to move back and up on its inclined plane." This quote and many others really helped me understand how the knees work together. It's very natural - and good form - to straighten that right leg on the take-back.
  18. Well ... Hogan is my idol and I can see that his right leg stays flexed on that back-swing of his.
  19. A flexed right knee ensures that one will not turn his/her hips too much in the back-swing. The right leg functions as a brace. In addition, one must avoid straightening the right leg on the back-swing which can lead to a reverse pivot. Here are a few benefits from using your right leg properly: Better connected to the ground. Shoulder turn approximately 90 degrees. Tighter coil. Hips clear quicker. More distance!
  20. Wasn't it funny when they awarded Blair 10 points at the end of the next-to-last show for having no strikes? The players seemed surprised by it, as if the reward came from nowhere. I maintain that Big Break wanted to have one of the prettier girls leading the pack!
  21. I'm gonna miss this show on Tuesday nights. I was surprised to see the men perform so poorly on the last show. Blair finished strong and deserved the top prize.
  22. I develop web applications using Visual Studio and SQL Server and also work on Drupal websites.
