Should players be DQ'd for penalties assessed after they sign their scorecard?
Camo replied to B-Con's topic in Rules of Golf
That's Better when I found that site I ended up on the chronological section http://www.ruleshistory.com/rules1996.html and it wasn't helpful for what I was looking for. Sorting it by category is much more helpful and interesting to me. -
When you say " might fit" People may have a better chance of recommending a system if you gave some dimensions , budget or general specs to try and meet your criteria. .....just sayin
-
I suppose that would depend on your specs and the tolerances you require. How tight of a tolerances are you looking for ? http://www.accusport.com/technology.php "The accuracy of the Vector Pro Launch System is impressive. It measures ball speed within 0.5 mph, launch angle within 0.2 degrees, backspin and sidespin within 150 rpm and side angle within two degrees."

New TM 110 Tour Ghost Putter....yep it made it in my bag ;)
Camo replied to enis750's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I called taiylormade today and they confirmed a march release date for the USA. They would not confirm msrp. The did confirm that the tm110 tour has been released to the retail market in japan. So I sent a friend of mine in japan a email and he confirms they are on store shelves and sell for 20,000 yen for the head only. He offered to send me one but I am going in may and plan on picking up some irons , so I think I am going to hold off for the time being. Please keep this thread updated with your review once you have some time playing yours. http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/★☆限定-稀少-GHOST-TOUR-TM-110-ヘッド単体★新品★☆★/auction/e107134454#enlargeimg -

Should players be DQ'd for penalties assessed after they sign their scorecard?
Camo replied to B-Con's topic in Rules of Golf
I tried to google it without success and I don't have access to any historical reference to the rules. However I am interested. Where are you getting your historical rules research material ? What is the history of this rule ? When was it implemented into the official book ? What event caused it to be adopted ? Was there controversy ? Since this rule has been getting so much attention perhaps you can share some interesting history of this rule with those of us who are interested. Sorry for all the questions, I am a general history buff so am always eager to listen when people are willing to share interesting history. -

"straight off the tour van" Is that the new code word for replica ? I see several eBay sellers using the same wording selling these putters. http://cgi.ebay.com/2011-New-Taylormade-Rossa-TM-110-TOUR-Ghost-putter-Rare-/320641458164?pt=Golf_Clubs&hash;=item4aa7b85ff4#ht_3533wt_802 It seems they come in both red and white paint fills on the "TM 110" are any of them authentic ? If so, how does somebody actually buy from the tour van ? Is there actually a TaylorMade factory van selling retail at PGA events or demo days ? What's the scoop ? -
The whole time watching it I couldn't help thinking, so what , the film crew goes off to their hotel room at the end of the shooting day and leave the guy to sleep in a pipe ?

She sent me a message the other day with the news. She wanted to get my blessings before she made it public. Hahaha i said it would be ok since I am happily married and what not.

Horrible Experience at a course in Vero Beach, FL

Sounds like a company that forgot they are in the service business., oh wait you said it was a muni so it is government run. Ya that sounds about right then. LoL -
What is the most important part of a golf course?
Camo replied to Quinn07's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
The companies management. If the corporation employees good managers then everything else tends to follow, budgets are in order which leads to proper upkeep of the facility , service staff is well trained and efficient , turf equipment is well maintained, grounds crews are well trained and proud of thier work , in my younger days I worked on 2 different course. 1 was well managed ( beaver creek, co ) and the other was not. a course with good management pays attention to the detail and that is most important to me. -
My back deck is 30 yards from the 3rd green of my home course. 9 hole private course in a gated community so typically the course is empty, as a matter of fact , I don't think I have ever had anybody in front or behind me waiting to hit. Takes about an hour and a half to play 9 . Favorite hole is the 9th , par 4 elevated dog leg 338 yards, green is out of sight from the tee and surrounded by a pond. If you are feeling frisky you can bomb the dog leg and if you go 10 yards to the right of the tallest pine tree you can drive the green. Or end up in a sand trap or the pond. Lol Second fav hole is the 3rd since it is essentially by back yard. We have BBQ parties and turn on the deck flood lights. Fun to night putt and play out of the sand trap. I have a range mat on my deck and we chip off it onto the green. Right now I am laying on my bed watching the football game and can see a 4 some putting out my bedroom window......hard to not like that setup.

I am in the lake tahoe area but would be interested if it was held in the palm aprons area

The issue or question wasn't if a player should be allowed to get away with a rules infraction. They should not be allowed to get away with an infraction. The question was should the tv audience be permitted to participate when a rules infraction occurs. In my opinion it would diminish the sport of professional golf to a cheesy tv gimmick used to increase tv ratings and would diminish the class and stature of the sport reducing it to a tv game show and take it out of the realm of a professional sport. On the irrelevant matter if it is equitable, I still contend that unless the tv audience / refree was observing each player for the same amount of time on the same hole it would be unfair. Any way you slice it. If the Marshall is watching you for 22 minutes and me for 15 seconds that is not an equal amount of scrutiny. I.e. What I mean by inequitable Anyhow, I voted no. Just my opinion.
-
If the sanctioning body holding the event can't fairly officiate the event without viewer participation then the issues for the sport run deeper then the few guys who might gain some sort of advantage because they are not on tv. Using tv as a rules tool is not equitable simply because only a few players are on tv. Every player should have the same oversight, not just the high profile players on tv My opinion about viewers as rules snitches is less to do about fairness , it is about letting the sanctioning body be the referee and not the audience.
-
I vote no I am not in favor of turning professional sports into tv viewer participation events. However as Sactionioning bodies like the PGA, NFL, MLB , NASCAR and others fight to retain or attract an audience in today's interactive inviorment it seems inevitable that they will have to adopt technology that engages the viewer in ways that old fashion tv could never dream of. But still, I do not like the idea of the viewer being a whistle blower. If the event promoter doesn't have the onsite resources to officiate the event then so be it, advantage goes to the player. Just my .02 Camo

The fact that they have the yet to be released TM r11 driver at 1/2 price sort of tells the story.

Reading Their about us, " golfdiscount18.com guarantees that our products will be of the highest quality available directly from original factory with serial numbers, made of high grade materials, and play with high performance. We work side by side with accredited and licensed OEM manufacturer to produce the high-performance golf heads & shafts and golf accessories. " They ship out of china. At those prices I seriously doubt they are "authorized" dealers and question the product being authentic. Just my skeptical opinion of course...... Buyer beware. Camo

Seems to me The Sand Trap should have a Sand Trap themed pic thread. So I had the wife snap one last week while we were playing Terra Lago in Palm Springs which seemed fitting since it seems i spent most of the round playing from the sand. post up your sand trap photos.......

Nike is everwhere - how much is marketing vs. quality
Camo replied to AbsoluteZero's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have a Nike towel, I just like the irony of using it to clean the muck off my TM and ping gear. LoL. I would rock a nike door mat if they made one. -

I Just got got back from palm springs for a week of golf, the marriot is a good call. However for a bachelor party I think I would be considering Vegas, golf is good but the nightlife is going to be better. And I think you will find more bargains in Vegas right now. But if golf is your main focus....palm springs is Mecca.
