1. So I did some research and found myself what I think is a true gem in some Cleveland CG4's. Been out on the range a few times and just took them out for the real test drive yesterday on a course. The feel of these clubs are almost blade-like to the point that I really can't notice or don't because I am so impressed with how they strike the ball. I didn't miss with these clubs distance wise... and accuracy was very good if not better than my Mizuno's. Mind you this is only after 1 round on the course. But besides that, I have also gained 5 to 10 yards with these clubs most likely due to their stronger lofts and of course hitting them more on the sweet spot which is larger to begin with. I recall a shot that I hit yesterday from 195 yards out. A slight tail wind behind me that was maybe 5 yards... I hit my new CG4 6 iron on the green to within 15 feet for a very good birdie opp. Made the putt... The cg4's seem to be doing better after they were discontinued than they did when they were the current model. I just put 2 of my beginning golfer coworkers into them. After they hit them against almost every other brand golf galaxy had. Nice stix and at $400 or less they are a steal.
2. do you have a Golf Galaxy near you? Go there and take a look at the dozens of used ones that have been traded in and take a few swipes in the simulater
3. $175 is about the max with a head cover. Get those, and use those headcovers boys and girls. A gamer doesn't have to get trashed
4. I'd buy it. Make sure to ask about the original head cover. If they don't have it try to get them to throw in a new one. can't hurt to ask and the are worth about $20
5. I've got the 906 and it sails if you hit it perfect, I would however suggest the Cleveland Launchers as a good all around fairway wood and a steal at $99 with graphite
6. I use hockey tape on my index finger between the first and second knuckle. It's like my pivot point and if I play alot it gets a little ssore and the tape tapes the beating don't forget the sun screen and bug spray
7. no catch, good quality and I think watson really uses them. What have you got to lose?
8.
4 inches wow you must be doing some heavy excavation at the courses you play ^^. I guess I must be really angree, there is only one rule of sand play. 1) get out of the sand 2) see rule 1
9. toooooooo young to take it seriously. It's great that he likes it and terrific that you spend time with him to do it. By the way be happy that you get to play more golf because he is interested and your wife gets more me time when he's away with you. but I digress. Take it slow and have fun or you will just get aggrivated with the attention span and pokines. My boys are now 12 and 14 and live golf and they are good and I love to play with them now that they are more like the guys. Encourage but don't over do it.
10. I agree that new clubs won't fix a bad swing, but the new technology can make good shots better and bad ones less bad. I also think the confidence that new clubs can give you standing over a shot can only help.
You have to have a swing.......... However it is vital that you find clubs that fit your swing and not vice versa. I once read that Nick Price will only hit a new club 3 times to see if it fits. Because after 3 he could adjust his swing to be able to hit it. In other words. If it fits you will know in a hurry. You can adjust to make anything work but that is not what you should be doing. If you want to get better try things that fit. You wouldn't keep trying on your wifes pants til they fit . Would you? different thread there.
11. follow through, follow through, follow through, way too many guys are afraid and they try to slow down at the ball. Get angry, swing hard, hit 2-4 inches behind the ball and FOLLOW THROUGH. Visualize your hands as a bowl full of sand with the ball sitting in the middle. Now throw it up in the air toward the green. Thats the perfect sand shot.
12. I'm pretty sure everyone thinks they hit it farther than they really do.
13. make sure to let us know what happens
14. goo gone or WD40 work on steel or graphite
15. the Titleist 905 S, T, or R are all outstanding. I have the T and R and preffer the smaller T
16. red max are $10 at golf galaxy
17. I'm with you, the same guys who complain about slow play are the same guys upacking and repacking range finders on every hole and walking the green from every angle. Check the sprinkller heads as you walk up to your ball and hit it
18. Because I want 50 yards added to my drives! POWW!
hit the weight room and same your money
19. stop with the 54 being old, 60 used to be my grandparents and now it's my friends. I'll bet at a 13 he can hit anything you can there whipper snapper. 20 year old clubs and bad grips? I'll bet he gets to an 8 with any new gear. Have him try the new Cleveland yellows
20. You can see titanium drivers cuase a spark all of the time. It's easier to see early morning or dusk. When the club head hits the sand on the tee box.
21. I'm surprised by the number of people responding 60* wedge. I say 52*. I've had 4-6 of those 60* and they are nothing but trouble. A waste of space.
22. Speaking of going through someones bag... I noticed I'd left my wedge on the previous green when I got to the next green. I knew exactly where it was. I get to the guy behind me who says he didn't see it. Tough to hide a wedge you ask? I ask you, do you play with your travel/ rain cover on your clubs when it's nice out? Should have searched the bag and beaten the little puke with the wedge he "didn't" have in his bag. Golf balls are one thing, clubs are another and the honor that is assumed in a golfer should go unquestioned.
23. I've got MP 33 and was thinking about the CG4 tours, it just shows we are never happy with what we have
24. You have to learn the game some where and pamphlet with your score card sure would help. how about enforceing the dress code and anyone with Patty Bergs and wood woods should not be allowed on the course.
25. I don't understand anyone getting married more than once. After you have your kids there is no good excuse for being that stupid.
