In general, which is harder to fix, face or path?
tkahlm replied to nevets88's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Certain spots fix face. It depends on the object of the lesson. I don't see the face to path acting in a 1:1 ratio just because the impact AoA has on creating the path. -
A pivot issue possibly. Just saying that from long absence. Post a video thanks

Neck tilts forward for cut and back for draws. Is this one of the most over looked parts of instruction? Regardless what techniques do you guys all use to change this on your players.

Id look at travel to the met section -
For everyone discuss the rule as close as possible to the last shot. I have attended multiple USGA rules seminars and surprise this always comes up. Everyone conducting the seminar stated its mainly to protect players that walked away from the shot. Also they don't want a player dropping it in their own divot. I know the divot is actually in front of the ball but let's not get into this. What they also said was a couple inches to avoid where you previously hit from. Someone once asked a club away and they said that wouldn't be acceptable.

How do you go about going through the certification process on that I would be interested in learning about that and talking to you about some people who went through TGM.
-
Many teachers do their own research with trackman. I have heard many top instructors talk about starting direction of slicers being 15% to the right of the target and lower, those numbers where found from the use of a trackman. I understand spin axis tilt as well I was trying to find out if anyone has experience on the spin loft being more on a draw or a fade thus lower the smash factor.
-
Id agree with no lateral movement a fade should go farther but most players hit a draw with hips that are sliding towards the target. When the hips move towards the target in the swing the hands lead more delofting the club.

Has anyone on here gone through the TGM certification process. I am interested in doing that in the new couple of years.

What is the BEST Golf Instructional Book Ever?

It depends on what you are looking for I'd say overall Clampetts Impact Zone -
Has anyone seen any information, maybe from trackman, that shows one flight typically goes farther than another. And what I meant by a fade going farther with the driver is with a HSP of 0 and a square face having the ball cut compared to hitting a draw with a driver.

I have been seeing some talk on the internet lately as to what you can get more distance out of a fade or a draw. I don't want the answer that they travel the same when everything is equal. I know that. I spoke to an instructor friend of mine and he thinks depending on the club it makes a difference. If you hit a driver with a positive AoA the fade should go farther and an iron shot a draw will go farther. I think the draw will go farther because you the delofting of the club due to the weight being forward. I think with a driver hit on the upswing it doesn't matter just changing the HSP will help dictate the ball flight.

Since there is a correlation swing plane is important but I would only care to know the connection if I was either filming my swing or it is important for teachers to learn about. Like Erik said it does have to deal with key #4.

SwingByte and SwingByte 2 Discussion Thread
tkahlm replied to nevets88's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I take back my previous statement about yardage. I forget the exact number but another student at my school used it and he had a 113 MPH swing speed with a 5* launch angle, unfortunatly he doesnt remember AoA, but it was saying between 275-285 carry. -
SwingByte and SwingByte 2 Discussion Thread

At the teaching center at my school we use a swingbyte, currently in the process of buying a used trackman. Most of the information is not correct or useful. Most people say the carry yardage is wrong but it seemed like that was my normal distance. I will use it more in the next couple days and report back here. -
What do you attend for educational purposes at the show. Went last year and felt like I didn't get the most out of it, hopefully I don't make the same mistake this year.

When Johnny Miller talks about pressure of his playing career and how players today handle it I like what Johnny Miller has to say a lot. When he talks about how Tiger Woods hit a cut by moving the face at impact I do not like what he has to say at all.

Berkshire Brewing company located in Great Barrington Mass creates an awesome Pale Ale. Other than that I would have to say not much can beat a cold Stella.

I have noticed that a few courses around me have said they have seen an increase in rounds for the year 2012 which has been a growing trend throughout the year.

1. When the golf club hits the golf ball, what's required for the ball to go up in the air? Backspin otherwise the ball won't fly. 2. In a properly struck golf shot, what does the divot tell you? The divot is almost completely worthless. It is hard to tell if the lie angle is incorrect because it would only be by a degree or two. 3. What primarily determines the starting direction of the golf ball? Club Face angle is about 85% 4. Can you actually compress a golf ball? Yes 5. Why is it easier to curve a 4-iron than a sand wedge? Less loft makes it easier to change the spin axis tilt. 6. What makes a golf ball break? Speed primarily 7. How do you increase backspin on a shot? What has to actually happen? Getting a higher spin loft. 8. If you look at any PGA Tour range, almost everyone has a different style of grip, posture, alignment, etc. How are they fundamentals? No fundamentals not one looks for all. 9. At what point in the swing do the hands reach their lowest point? At the bottom of the swing arc. 10. With a driver, why does hitting up actually make the ball go farther? It creates less spin on the golf ball and a better launch angle.

Some players also have to play a strong grip to hit a cut like Paul Azinger. You said Tiger can hit a draw with a neutral grip, there are many tour pros hot consistently hit a draw with a weaker grip like I said in the post before it depends more on more than just the grip. Ive also had a strong grip and hit a draw, I am switching over to a cut with the same grip and have noticed a lot of improvement.
