  1. Anyone who objects to using golf as a verb cannot call himself (or herself) a golfer since golfer is formed by adding - er to the verb golf. Adding - er to a verb should give us a meaning like "one who verbs " (whatever the meaning of the verb is). Worker -- one who works, walker -- one who walks, talker -- one who talks, golfer -- one who.... I'm always amused by people who object to golf as a verb. ...that said, they are usually much more affluent than I am, so the objection probably works as some sort of socio-economic status indicator / social-ladder-climbing diagnostic.
  2. 85. ...set my personal speed record for playing 18 too... 1:46. Walking. (OK, I jogged down the fairway on a few holes.) Nearly perfect day. Cold enough to keep the crowds away (below 40F) but sunny and not too much wind. I could have played better though. Should have been 2-3 shots lower based on putting, I hit three trees (sorry trees), and two penalties.
  3. I'd be interested. Of the e-series balls, the fitting recommends the e-6 more than the e-5.
  4. 82. A pretty crappy 44 on the front 9 followed by a 38 on the back 9. Always enjoy it more when the scores get better (instead of worse) as the round progresses. Oh, and 82 is pretty good for me!
  5. 1. Single digit handicap. (Technically, I achieved this in 2014, but my three best rounds are about to disappear. ...and my single digit handicap along with them.) 2. Get fit into irons. (I got fit into a putter in 2014. Love it!) 3. Play over 51 rounds for the year. (I *almost* play weekly golf.) 4. Improve my driving to the point where I hit 50% of the fairways. (I am usually close to the fairway, but I only hit about 25%.) 5. Have fun.
  6. 80. And just about a perfect day. Almost no wind. 39F to start 55F by the finish. Only one guy out in front of me (and he let me by as soon as I caught up with him.)
  7. Yankee, but you must WALK - none of this 'cart' stuff. Pay the extra $150 for the nicer range. 20 min of extra drive time, but you've got more variety, you'll be healthier because you're walking, and if you don't have much time you have a better range and more sets of 9 holes to choose from. Win, win, win.
  8. 82. 38F with 10-15mph wind and almost nobody out. Just about perfect.
  9. Zombie thread - just won't die!
  10. Can't decide. Someone already took the Dead, so... The Clash.
  11. 81. My first good (for me) score this month. Air temp right around 40. Sunny and 10-15 mph wind. ...and almost no one out -- so I finished (without rushing) in 2:14! That's about as good as it gets (without breaking 80, anyway...).
  12. I'd like to get back to a single digit. ...technically, I'm still a single digit, but I haven't been able to score under 85 in my past four rounds, and my four lowest scores from summer are coming up, so I expect to be a 12 by the end of January... (To be honest, I would actually be happy with 50% fairways hit and better ball striking with my 6i and lower.)
  13. Another 85. Could have been much better. Seven 3-putts.
  14. 87. And pissed off. Even par through 5 holes. One over through 7. Then a triple on 8. ...and three triples on the back nine... On the other hand, I finished the full round in 2:14 - walking. That was nice.
  15. 88. Perfect weather. Perfect day. Perfectly horrible score. Grrrr...
  16. 8.6. Steady. But four of my lowest rounds are about to be kicked out of my most recent 20. I think I'll be above a 10 in about 5 rounds (unless I hit a couple of really low scores).
  17. Lady Madonna - Love Psychedelico (Just the short version - but you get the idea. This band is great!)
  18. Eloise - the Damned
  19. 81. Another chip-in. ...but at least this time I hit 7 fairways (and several of my misses weren't bad at all). Just under 40F at tee off - 60F by the end. And the round was free too!
  20. I love soccer - especially when played at a high level. I loved playing soccer before injuries. ...and soccer injuries took me to golf - which I also enjoy! Having played makes it easier for me to appreciate how much skill the top players have, especially their touch and passing. I also think NFL makes a great sofa sport (especially when you record it and can fast-forward through all the delays/commercials/etc.). Soccer, on the other hand, is much better in the stadium. (Much more affordable in the US too.)
  21. 82. ...but it should have been about 4 or 5 strokes higher - I chipped in twice (both for pars), and I missed all but one fairway (some by a whole lot). ...40F when I teed off. Finished in 2:15. :)
  22. I've hit at a lit range -- it's really easy to see the ball in the light against a dark sky. Kind of cool - and I'd love to try this out. I've never tried the glow-balls either - that might be fun once or twice.
  23. Definitely still looking for my first hole-in-one... But I have a 270-300 yard par-4 (depending on where the tees are), and for three months out of the year it has a tailwind.... got a couple of eagles there. I'm still under 5 total though. :(
