Agreed.....not much work done, but agreed!!
-
Let it go, Donnie! I can see your point, but maybe you didn't handle it perfectly either.....at the end of the day, opinions are like a-holes....everyone's got one and they all stink except yours!!!!
-
Leave the kid out of it....not really apples to apples, is it? He's not paying for it, nor capable to handle the situation with the adults running the store. He might go home No offense, kid!

Wasn't the "new" club just a loaner...? I don't think he got a "great deal." Just a temporary fix.
-
I think he has a mercedes....my wife has a beemer, although it is a measly 3 series. No offense to all other 3-series owners! :) This thread - and my post - is getting waaaay off topic here!
-
Donnie, if I'm reading this post correctly.....you were peaved because the loaner costs $50 less??? I do have exception with that! WHO CARES???? Next week the value of a "new" club will drop if the "newer" model comes out..... The real question is - was the club "reasonably" comparable? It's possible that you will not be satisfied for any other opinion on the club swap....and maybe the guy pissed you off too much to move on (I've been there...), but just talking about the club.....was it comparable....if they didn't have the exact one - get something in the same ballpark and move on - you should be able to get over it. It is only 2 weeks.

What's with all the harshness here??? Maybe both were a little wrong here.... I pretty much agree with Donnie B, I would be super pissed having dropped that kind of dough in this economic environment....although in LA, maybe not that much dough.....and being brushed off by the club repair dude. However, I probably would've taken some kind of loaner and got over it....maybe make them through in some balls. But as somewhat of an OCD person myself, I would've really been pissed that the "mucked up" my new driver. I did this myself to my old (new at the time) TM Bubble driver, with the gold head, put a scuff on it like on the 3rd hole....I was soooo pissed!!! Anyway, seems like a lot are really chastizing DB.....he may have been a little in the wrong, but without being there, seeing the club and both guys reactions.....I would say move on and shop somewhere else.

Dawg, Which "quality" ProV1 do you buy from lostballs? Just curious how you would rate the different levels, or the ones you are familiar with? Just curious..... THANKS!!

Scottsdale Recommendation needed
Sowbug2000 replied to gnu155's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
I went SEVERAL years ago.....but played Camelback, TPC Scottsdale (not the stadium course), Sanctuary - desert golf, yuck!, and Hilton Tapatio Cliffs. I liked Camelback and Tapatio Cliffs - one hole at TC had at least a 120ft drop from the tee box.....I SOOOOO wanted to hit a straight drive, to record my longest drive ever.....of course, didn't happen and there was a group behind us! There are a million courses out there - I guess the folks that live out there would have the best recommendations! Have fun! -
I also check out the golf aisle at WalMart, Target....whatever....insert general sporting goods store/section of store. I might want to try out those balls....or accessory!
-
...you can barely drag yourself out of bed for work or other reasons, but are awake, showered and re-cleaning your clubs at 5:30 am for your 8:00 tee time. You wait that long to clean your clubs??? I clean them the night before.....
-
I'm obviously not a low capper, but play with some......Yeah, what he said - true about the long routine of some low cappers and how they yap non-stop or get real pissed when the duff a shot....its like, "let it go already, I'm trying to putt or drive the ball." Agree with the other guy about speed of play and ettiquette, too. Lots of times more seasoned (not necessarily low cappers) have a better handle on this stuff.
-
Alright....I could be in the money here.... I'm am one stroke behind and the two players separating us are: My team - Furyk (+1) His team - Cabrera (+2) and Goosen (-1) Will Jim hold and Cabrera and Goosen slack off a little...?? I could win $180!!!
-
Or what about playing with someone who can shoot in the 70s, with some "gimmes", but can obviously play.....but stands over you with the flag while your putting and actually takes a step to the hole before you finish your stroke.....hits 3 footers back to you without asking, and stands behind the hole in your vision as you are putting downhill for birdie on 18 after a good round (for you)??? And then "smirks" when you ask him to move....twice!!!! Some people don't get "general" ettiquitte.....not talking "golf rules nazi" over here....just basic, don't make noise when I'm on deck and walk in line or hover too close......jeeez!
-
Nothing wrong with "ready golf"....at least in my book. We play that way alot.

Best Ball for Mid, Mid-High Handicappers
Sowbug2000 replied to Sowbug2000's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
A friend of mine uses Strata - affordable, don't remember the price...3-piece ball. Any thoughts on that one? I appreciate everyone's thoughts! Have a good day! -
This has probably been discussed....I tried searching a few different times, with no luck. What do you think is a good ball - performance and price - for a 15 Handicapper? I'm not a long ball hitter and would like distance and some feel around the greens? Best 3 piece ball that doesn't cost $45??? Many questions, look forward to your opinons! Thanks!!

This thread is interesting....thanks for starting it!! First, let me say - I am "someone who plays golf" that is aspiring to be a "golfer!" I don't take Mulligans, DO roll the ball, count my OBs and usually hole out. The guys that I play with, most are better, but they "give" some putts, and definitely roll the ball....maybe the low handicappers don't. I would RATHER putt out. We play for big money! $2 - front, back and total. Will have the occasional beer. I subscribe to Golf Magazine and Golf Digest, watch the Golf Channel - Big Break is awesome, and try to watch most PGA golf tourneys and play on Sundays. I want to get better, try to play with more capable golfers and learn where I can. I feel like my "golf mind" is better than my abilities. But I digress... I must agree that some "better" golfers are snobby, but so are some people. I enjoy playing casually competitive golf that won't bring you down too much with the Type A, OCD players that slow down and ruin your "day in the sun." I know that will draw criticism from some.... At the end of the day (and this long post), I'm out there to have fun....not play with some cheating, or non-cheating A-holes. And the most annoying thing to me is someone who is distracting on the green making noises, shadows or is harping about that last duffed shot they missed while you are trying to putt, giving you grief for asking them to get out of your vision while over a putt or someone who taps back your 4 footer saying its good. Thanks for listening!

There is a golf club maker on Germatown Rd across from Methodist Germatown....I can't remember the name of it though....

Strengths/Weaknessess and "stereotypes" of Brands
Sowbug2000 replied to Knockglock's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
My opinion on the "stereotypes" of brands: Titlest - players clubs, not so forgiving, good/expensive balls, some might say "elitist." < not me, but I've heard it said. Wedges and Putters are very popular and expensive. #1 Ball in Golf. Mizuno - players clubs, great feel, strong following. PING - irons, putters. Expensive. Some might say "elitist" < I wouldn't, see my signature! :) I'm not sure if they are considered players clubs, but classic maybe. PingEye2 are still played by many....and they are like 20 yrs old? Calloway - great game improvement irons. Taylor Made - Great drivers/fairway woods. Irons and balls are respected. TM owns Addidas. Good golf apparel. Cleveland - Irons and Wedges. "Zip" Groves. Cobra - I think they are great irons, but don't seem to be as popular as calloway. Nike - My personal impression is "new" to golf. I did hit a 7 iron (don't know which set) and it was pretty good. Nike One balls are good/expensive. Good clothing. I'm not sure how much they pay Tiger, but it can't be enough.....without him, they wouldn't exist in golf. Bridgestone - pricey but good golf balls. Just my .02 -
Should I Get Different Irons?
Sowbug2000 replied to cinabnitt's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
You mentioned having chipping woes - what happens? I've had chipping problems in the past - and still occasionally, where my chip would be 45 degrees off target - talk about frustrating and embarassing. I've started a new method - which has helped me tremendously. I put my right pointer finger down the shaft (as some do when putting), and it keeps my chips MUCH straigter. I think my problem was swinging too easy and not squaring the clubface and possibly opening the clubface as I brought the club back. Anyway, don't forget to practice putting and chipping - it will help your game tremendously - is still working for me. My 2 cents. -
PING G5 - Black Dot or Not?
Sowbug2000 replied to Sowbug2000's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'm not that tall...... They also had the Mizuno MX-25s......Hmmmm, decisions..... Thanks for the thoughts! -
Quick Question for all the "Pros" out there!!! I'm considering buying a set of Ping G5s from Golf Galaxy (going out of biz sale) for about $480 (20% off reg $599) + tax. My question, I haven't been fitted for them....and just curious if I should buy the standard Black Dots, if I'm 1 or 2 degrees off (either way). I currently use Calloway grafite RCH-96 clubs, which are good....but they're not fitted either. Just dying to upgrade... Any thoughts on the clubs and/or the fitting question? THANKS!!! P.S. I'm going at lunch......SOON!

Well, it sounds like you could kick his @$$!!!!! Here's what you do....if he's gonna break 80, just round-house him to the head....! :) Good luck...with your game!
