  1. 2 courses "near" me. The first one which is the better one, but really busy on weekends is 30 minutes drive. The other one is 40 minutes. Before I bought my car I use to do it on my 125cc Honda Wave with my clubs across my shoulders and resting on the back seat! That was fun coming back in the dark on country roads with clueless Thai drivers flying past. I have been known to travel over 3 hours to play golf, but that was to play Amata Springs in Chonburi which is rated as one of the best in the country.
  2. I played a course out here in Asia and it was 7500 yards from the tips. Couldn't see a rating on the score card but it's by far the hardest course that I have played. I shot 80, 79, 81 and was really happy with the way I played over 3 days, apart from one or two holes!! If it were Augusta, I'd be looking to break 90, but I'm probably fooling myself..
  3. 45 - 40. Not a great day, especially with a big comp tomorrow. Think I might get there a couple of hours early and work on my putting. God knows what's going on, two weeks ago I couldn't miss..
  4. Last four rounds. 41 - 38 41 - 41 45 - 39 39 - 38 Going to have to put some work in on the putting green. Last round I had 5 bogeys and 13 pars. Hit 13 greens in regulation and missed every single birdie put, 5 of them inside 10 feet. Could of been one of those days though as 5 lipped out and 1 done the full 360 degrees.
  5. I bought him a load of balls and put them in a tray for him. That keeps him happy. The ranges in my area don't cater for toddlers but don't mind him having a little practice either, as long as I collect the balls!
  6. He's already going with me! http://thesandtrap.com/t/73215/fathers-and-sons See this thread for the video!!
  7. I took up golf October 2010, I was 32. A friend of mine kept pestering me to go, I put him off numerous times until I finally gave in. He took me to the course, luckily it was deserted. First hole par 4. I took out the driver (borrowed girlfriends clubs) and gave it an almighty swing, the ball was still on the tee and I was almost flat on my ass. Ended up taking a 10 then went on to par the second hole I ever played. I was hooked from that hole on. I can't remember what I scored that day but it must of been more than 120. After that day I went and bought myself a set of Dunlops and started to practice pretty much every day with rounds of golf on Saturdays and Sundays and it took me a almost a year to break 90. I upgraded my clubs and that made a big difference and I went on to break 80 10 months ago. My game now is more consistent and I'm usually scoring low 80's or high 70's, best being 76. I have never had lessons but I do watch the golf channel and take some advise from some of the better players at my local course. There's a couple of Asian tour players there and they're pretty cool blokes who don't mind helping me out. I can definitely still improve if I had more time and money! Got a little boy now who takes up a lot of my time...
  8. 45 - 38. Really must start to warm up before playing!!
  9. Bad one yesterday 48 - 40. Lost ball on the 2nd, 3rd and OB on the 7th. Found my tempo on the back 9 and had a put on the 18th for 39.
  10. 43-41. Getting worse. Hit some nice shots but top too many long irons.
  11. 38 - 43. Got held up on the back 9 (understatement), and missed a few easy puts for what would of been a nice round of golf. Range time is starting to pay off. Let's see what tomorrow brings..
  12. 2 in the last 20. Haven't got enough time on my hands to travel any further. The course I play the most is a 35 minute drive and the other one which I've played once is 45 minutes, and not that good. The next course closest to me is 1 hr 45 min drive away, and 4 times the price. I am going there this Wednesday as a little treat to myself.
  13. Yesterdays shot of the day was a 110 yd sw to 3 inches for a tap in bird. Hit some other good wedge shots but that was the creme del la creme..
  14. Me too! I started at the age of 32...

    Can't stand the bloke...
  16. I have never heard a tee shot on a par 3 being called a drive, on the telly or the course. Excuse my ignorance but I am fairly new to the game.
  17. Love it. I hope my son loves golf as much as I do and we can have a relationship like that. I'm sure he will do. Here's a video of him at 18 months..
  18. Do you ever hear a commentator say "great drive" when a pro hits his "tee shot" on a par 3?
  19. Hitting a drive into a 137 yd par 3. Was there a strong wind?
  20. Living in Thailand water is a must although I have been known to sink a few beers on the course. Put a stop to that now, concentrating on my game as I've 2 months off work.
  21. Here's one but not for birdie. Drivable par 4 310 yards. Sliced my drive and left myself 40 yards right and under trees. I tried to played a low chip and run 7i up onto the green but hit it a little bit to hard and it flew straight in the hole on the fly. It went in that hard it destroyed the hole. That was my first ever eagle..
  22. I have just completed my first year playing and my goal was to break 80 in the first year. This didn't happen but I was not to far away, 82 being my best score. Last weekend I had a putt for a 79, missed it and carded 80. I still wouldn't have acheived my goal as I was into my 13 month. 39 was My best score through 9. That was beaten last week by 1. Over all I am very happy with my progress this year. So the new goals for next year are still to shoot under 80! Win my first tournament (in flight A), more consistent short game, improve putting (if I could putt I would have broke 80). I am quite lucky. I live in Thailand so no winter for me people! Plenty of weekends to break the 80 barrier. Just a shame my local course, which is 10 km up the road is still under water so no driving range for a while yet. Just have to make do with my mates Flight Scope sim in the evenings. :) Happy Hacking people!!
  23. Yes mate, I know them shots. I usually throw in a little club twirl to finish. My mates say I over do it. I say it's GOTTA BE DONE!!
  24. Quote: First off, did you make the putt? Even though putting is by far the worst part of my game I still managed to sink that one!!
