Nobody rakes sand traps or fixes ball marks at the local muni - no matter how they are dressed, the equipment they play, the car they drive, how well they play. If it were not for the signs requesting we do so, I would think it was illegal.

Feherty is the one interview show I watch. I suspect it wont be long until we loose him to a major network talk show.

Old Moe said "like Hogan" - Young Moe did it. Other then it appears that his T is a soda bottle, this is a serious swing.

Some people think wearing Basketball Shorts is dressing up. They are making an effort....that's their best tank top. Get them playing and then you can dress them up.

"Anti" can be replaced with "Pro". Being Pro That instead of Anti This. I have enjoyed many a round with guys in basketball shorts and tank tops. Golf needs young talent, not old farts who can't see beyond the jeans and shorts.

It's in the American DNA. We are a nation whose forefathers said screw this and got on the boat looking for better. (There have been serious studies on this. ) Polo Shirts? Should be Baseball shirts. Basketball Shorts - welcome. Plus Fours - go back to the Circus.

Can I clean up old clubs?
The Tin Man replied to thejohnsmith's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Go to the auto store and buy a quality mag wheel polish. Don't use Naval Jelly - it dulls the finish. Wendol metal polish is what museums use. But it removes the paint and any coatings a club may have, such as gun blue. As to rust not being a help.....why bother making clubs that are meant to rust.....just more marketing stupidly. I need to carry gun oil for my putter! -

Some wedges are made to rust - the rust adds friction to the face - you don't clean these. It will be cheaper to buy clubs in better condition then pay to have them cleaned up beyond what we do at the kitchen sink. -
Tip: Check their e-bay stores for discounted new "Scotty Cameron" putters - no such thing exists. If you think it does then give Titlist a call. I have bought a lot of used clubs on e-bay. It's not hard to find the crooks - there selling the hottest newest items at a deep discount.

LOL! That's what I wear...ordinary long sleeve dress shirts for the sun protection they offer. (In my case decades too late.) I should also start wearing a hat......one with a brim. If somebody wants to wear basketball shorts with a tank top I don't care. However I draw the line at fat men in Speedos.

Shaking Hands With Your Foursome / Removing Your Hat on 18th Green?
The Tin Man replied to bigoak's topic in Golf Talk
If I'm wearing a hat it's raining rocks, but I do shake hands. -
How to get more people to play and get interested in golf
The Tin Man replied to rstyle's topic in Golf Talk
I would rather more people quit playing..........it's crowded enough here. Los Angeles Muni's are the only thing the city owns that's making money. -
If you see me wearing a Clown Suit aka Golf Clothing don't bother saying hello.....I'm dead.

Forget trying to bring Hogan into the future, that's not possible. But, we can take a modern player back to the past. No jets, broken down car, hungry wife, $500 top prize. No product endorsements, giving lessons between tournaments to eat, sharing flea bag motel rooms................

Lies, frequency, Blades and CB's
The Tin Man replied to The Tin Man's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Choosing the correct shaft is subject I leave to others. But, I have come across factory rejects from brands that should not have factory rejects. $900 irons should not make figure 8"s. (I have only ran into this with "made for xxx stock factory shafts") -
Things I learned the hard way: A 30 year old blade with correct lies is easier to hit then a GI CB that's bent 2 degrees the wrong way. I play 2 deg toe down, more people play 2 deg toe up. I keep an old Sam Snead 6 iron that's set up correctly for me and take it with me when trying out clubs. Sometimes I have an iron I can't hit worth squat. When put on a frequency analyzer the problem turns out to be the shaft. A SW I was splaying balls with made figure 8's. Brand new out of the box clubs from a major manufacture of good reputation doesn't guarantee the lofts and lies are even. Shafts marked A, R, S can be the same flex. There's no standard and the only way to know is to have them tested. (Should be done free along with checking loft/lie when buying new.) About $25 for used clubs.
-
If possible I would find a park or field where you can hit some "Almost Golf-Balls" (they wont hurt anything, or go far). Your not playing golf, you can't "kill" the ball, nobody cares and there's no pressure to perform .....now make friends with your 7 iron and one SW.

I know it starts Saturday (tomorrow) - may even be starting this morning (Friday) Nothing on the website - I learned about it when I visited last week. -
Nobody talks about using the ground, yet many of us come from back grounds where footwork is everything.

The issue your facing is scale. If I owned a metal shop I would really be hurting if I had the time to make you 10 or 50. So lets talk 1000. Can you afford this? (I would really want to do 10,000) With me in the loop your profit goes down. Now add a dealer and his profit cut. Plan B - fly to Tawaian and open the hotels phone book. How to find everything you need to get anything made is in the phone book. The chances of your patent being honored are slim. (Advantage: You can get away from using real golf bags.) Plan C: Make them yourself as a hobby. Open an E-bay store.

Grooveless Blades from Germany
The Tin Man replied to woltaire's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Grooveless offers a huge advantage for those who looking good is better then being good - those irons would polish up nicely. -
Why can't we just compromise and agree to cover our irons with old gym socks.

My first instructor told me that it's too bad I was 32. If I started younger I could be a pro. At the time it was a good confidence builder. I had just cut 50 strokes off my game, and less a reality then winning the Lottery - I had not broken 90.
