This is not as uncommon as you think it is.

Mizuno MP 69's w/ TT DG S300 shafts now in my bag
funkyfred72 replied to Gapwedge's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Those MP 69's are awesome. Hit them today along with the MP 63 and MP 52. Also tried out the Cleveland CG 16 Tour. The MP 69 was by far the best of that bunch. Still have some to test out but it will be very hard to beat out the feel and consistancy of the 69's. -
Anti doping agency to consider adding tobacco to the banned list...
funkyfred72 replied to Lofty Lefty's topic in Tour Talk
Why not add all foods and drinks to the list too? When players get low on energy they eat and/or drink to get their energy level and focus back up. That sounds "performance enhancing" to me. -
Battle Srixon: q star versus AD333
funkyfred72 replied to misterjohn's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I think you answered your own thought. Why would someone suggest using the AD333 when they will not be produced anymore? At 42 cents more per ball they are def worth the money for extra spin and softness. -
First eagle in competition was when I was 15 playing in high school, less than 1 year after picking up the game. Short 272 yard par 4. It played downhill and there are two bunkers that guarded the green with a narrow opening. My ball landed right in between the bunkers and ended up 2 feet from the hole. Sunk the putt and was thrilled. Most memorable eagle in competition was on a 387 yard par 4 (This was also in high school). I was 110 out in the rough after my drive. Took my Wilson Fat Shaft sand wedge and hit the ball on the fringe and it managed to roll out 20 feet into the cup.

Significant issue I feel is effecting PGA tour TV viewership ratings
funkyfred72 replied to uttexas's topic in Tour Talk
I have to agree. commercials are getting ridiculous. But as for not being able to keep up with recording, it's not really that hard. I guess I can say that because I have DrirecTV and if I forget to record something I just take out my phone and set it up. Even when I couldn't do it on my phone it only took about 30 seconds to set up all 4 rounds to be recorded. I'm sorry but I just don't see what the big fuss is about. -
I got to enjoy a round this weekend and help donate. Got on as a single and was paired with three guys, one of which is a fighter pilot in the Air Force. What are the chances of that? Thanks to all who serve this country!!!

I know you didn't use experience as an excuse. I added the last two sentances. Sorry, I should have clarified that.

He has been at the top or near the top many times and hasn't gotten it done. You're right, he doesn't suck. After all he has gotten to the top of the leaderboards before. But until he gets the job done, he will be known as a choke artist. And you can't use experience as an excuse. 6 PGA Tour rookies have won this year.

Or you could learn to control the spin with your wedges. In stead of taking a full SW, take a 3/4 GW or a little PW. That way if you o miss the green you still have a great ball to put some spin on if needed.

"I always enjoy competing in my home state, and this tournament fits my schedule perfectly." "John Fry and his company have supported the tour, and I've heard good things about the event and the golf course," Woods said. "One of my goals this year was to participate in a tournament I hadn't played before, and now, I will." One of your goals? Yeah right. Couples said he wanted Tiger to play before the Presidents Cup. It's funny how Tiger makes it seem like this is his idea and not "taking an order" from someone else.

Shorty had it right, "but when they claim to have a "handicap" it just riles me a bit because you know damn well it isn't genuine."
-
There is my answer. Definitely not Championship flight.

SVTGolfer does not post a handicap becaue "Too many people on here are concerned with handicaps and wether or not the poster has a handicap better than theirs as to if thier comments hold water." What I get from that is that he is not a low handicapper. I'd guess somewhere around 10-12, minimum. For all we know those 4 wins could have been in Flight B or C, not A or Championship.

Par for the course inflates newer golfers scores.
funkyfred72 replied to trackster's topic in Golf Talk
Bingo. From what the OP has been saying he makes it sound like the "new" golfer hits every shot pretty well except with woods. If I were a new golfer I would rather hit a huge slice 230 yards than top a 6 iron off the tee. -

funkyfred72 replied to trackster's topic in Golf Talk
I'm trying to figure out how this thread ISN'T course management. With everything that has been said, it most definitely is. Ask yourself, "WHY am I not hitting a wood off the tee and using an iron?" "Because I slice and could end up in the rough or under a tree. I hit my irons more accurately." Choosing which club to hit in ANY situation to get a more desirable outcome IS course management, no matter if you look at the layout of the hole or not. -
That GPS is great. I played a course earlier this year that had it. It showed every cart within range, even carts where someone hit an errant shot and was heading in our direction. I know some courses cannot afford it or do not want to pay for it, but I would like to see more courses use it.

20+ handicappers hitting 300 yards (mild rant)
funkyfred72 replied to extremeld's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
If you actually watched a tournament you would see how often players use a 3 wood off the tee. That is why the tour average is 290. -
When Will the PGA tour start helping the LPGA tour
funkyfred72 replied to HerdGolf's topic in Golf Talk
I really couldn't care less about the LPGA Tour. When is the last time you saw an LPGA player 200+ out behind a tree and hit a 40 yard hook and roll the ball up on the green? Are there any other there that could. I am not interested in seeing one of them hit driver - hybrid/long iron into a 400 yard par 4. -
If You DO NOT Take Lessons, Why?
funkyfred72 replied to iacas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I voted for "Lessons cost too much." Seems as though a lot of others think this also. I know I am not going to get so great at the game of golf I am going to turn pro, or even come close. Why spend $40+ per lesson when I can go play two rounds for that that much? There are so many video and books out there that lessons, in my opinion, are becoming less and less needed. -

funkyfred72 replied to extremeld's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Your right, because the pro's are laying up at 290 with their 3 wood. Right now J.B. Holmes is leading the PGA Tour in driving distance at 318.4. I'd think that number would be much higher if he used a driver on every hole. -
There are toxins and bad stuff not only in drinks, but also in the food you eat. Eating processed food is just as bad, if not worse.

There are a lot of websites out there that let you calculate your handicap for free. You just have to put in your score, the course rating and slope and it will calculate your handicap for you. If you are a member at a course they will have a computer there that you can put your scores in (usually included in membership price, at least where I play they do). Some courses will let non-members use their handicap system for a fee (around $30-$35 at my course). But the websites where you can do it for free, is not your official handicap, even though they use the same formula. They are not recognized by the USGA as official, meaning you cannot use the handicap for tournaments.

That is their fault. If I ever hear "fore", I duck and cover my head. It's like when you say "head's up!", and people look around and try and figure out why.
