35 for me and the golf gods have been beating me up since day one.
-
I agree on the golfing buddy. Good luck to you and hope you can get her into the game.
-
Actually you do.. The best playing partner you can ever have is your fiance. My wife and I play together ever weekend and next year are looking to play in the league where she works.
-
Roody took the words right out of my mouth. Go play if you feel comfortable the best learning you can ever do will be on the course. I still get a little tense when someone comes up behind us but you paid to play the hole so I say play it they can wait and let them play thru on the next hole. And yes it's harder than it looks but is so much fun. Welcome to the game
-
Shoot, I was hoping no one heard that.
-
When no one is behind us and the course is slow me and my wife do this. I have at times just dropped a few balls and we tried those what if shots and we learned a lot from them to.
-
Yep good luck to you. Hope all goes well. Heck, I just wish I was good enough to play on a league

I'm in as Team SC. Late as usual

Give it some time and it might grow on you. it did me and I've been stuck here about 15 years. But, when it comes to golf you can't beat it.

Finished out at 104 today. front 9 was 14 over and the back 9 was 18 over. I totally chocked on the 11 hole par 4 posting a nice 5 over, it's something about this hole that always gets me worked when I walk up to tee off. But on a brighter note, Saturday while playing the back nine at our local muni course I did save par on three holes and that was first for me. I'm getting better

NO need to retype since I do the samething you do

To Tee or Not To Tee (with Irons) ?
Chris36 replied to motius's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Tee up my irons all the time here and was shocked today at the course to find out so many others did it to. -
My best game ever even if the score is high. First nine I shot a 45 with three pars. The pars were a first for me. Then on the back nine I lost it, shot 55 with 5 of the holes being 3 ballers, that totally blew my score. So I walk off +28 over par. The one nice thing I learned what I need to do the next time in order to lower that score. My wife first nine she shots 47 and then on the back nine she shots a 48, AHHH she finished out at +23 over par. Second lesson learned it's always great to play with your wife. There's a level of competition heck it's had to explain. That's all I have to say about that.

Played 9 this morning and finished 15 over probably would have been better had not been for the cement drainage pipe at the end of a water hazard !!!!!. I was on the 18th hole about 150 yards from the green with a long carry over a water hazard so I decided to hit a little short and play it safe using my 8 iron, I got a really solid hit as I was watching the ball dropping really close to the edge of the hazard it fell into a ditch hitting a cement draining pipe bouncing back out and landing about 50 yards in front of me. That was the highlight of our day and got some good laughs.

My longest which has only happened once was 250 yards but on average all mine usually go 200-210 yards.
-
I've had my clubs for years but only played once, then six months ago I started hitting the range and starting actually getting better and enjoying the game, so I've been playing really serious for about 6 months now.. Enjoying every minute of it.

I say go for it

Taylormade R5 XL 12

just bought a driver ive never hit before...

I bought the TM R5 last night and hit the range on the way home and then out on course today, I love this Driver. I can't speak for your burner but if it's like my R5 you are going to love it. Seems like the balls just love getting in the way of club head. Congratulations on your new member -
Norm you took the words right out of my mouth. When the day comes that I consider myself good and I run up on a slower player, you can bet I'll remember I was a beginner to.

Played nine holes today par was 36 and shot 55 over. First time on this course so for a rookie player I'm happy. The second hole was a par 5 that I went 5 over, when I walked away from the green all I could do was shake my head in dissapair. Everything was great from the drive to the iron play but when it came time for the short game, it was all down hill from there. That hole awaits me for another day.
-
Yep had one today. Driver and putting was good but I struggled with the iron play, afterward I hit the driving range and the irons hits went really well. For me seems like it really becomes a mental thing once on the course. But after all, for me, it's just a game whether good or bad I had fun.

I took the plunge today and picked up a set of Taylormade Rac OS irons R5 XL 3w, 5w and a R5 XL driver, I was originally going to get a set of Cleveland launchers but they were not sold here so after a lot of swinging and hitting in the store Taylormade was my choice. You know I had to hit the range afterwords and I'm really impressed with them. The Racs are very forgiven for a beginner like me, the 3 and 5 woods are really easy to hit and hit straight at that. The R5 XL driver, what can I say other than sweet, since starting golf I have struggled with the driver I usually hit in the 175-200 yard mark but with the XL I was consistently at the 225-250 mark. So over all I think I got a good set of clubs that will grow with me. Time to hit the course and really test them.

Which set of irons will grow with me
Chris36 replied to Chris36's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thanks all for the great information. Looks like launchers it will be -
I'm a total newbie at golf, been playing for about a month now but had the clubs for years. Since my first day I have made some really great improvements in my ball hitting and would like to move up from my old clubs to something that will grow with me. I'm stuck on the Cleveland Launchers or the CG4's. Any suggestions which ones would be a good fit for a beginner like me? Thanks, Chris
