  1. I think handicaps are way over rated, especially if you belong to a certain club where you play the majority of your golf. In my opinion.
  2. Ok, we all have our set-up routines and I can appreciate that. Well, today I played 9 holes with a local Senior PGA bound gentleman that I was fortunate enough to be paired with. I shot one over on 9 and managed over a long way off the tee and he was right around 260 and shot 4 under! Oh, and I hit 1 fairway and was in the rough on every one after that and he hit EVERY single fairway and green in regulation He was absolutely amazing. The biggest difference I saw is that 170 so yards and in, he was within 15 feet and I was just lucky to aim for the middle of the green from the rough. Anyway, here is where it gets interesting and when you see him on tv one day you will know his name because here is exactly how he sets up to EVERY SINGLE SHOT! Driver: He extends his arms and gets into his exact impact position, from there he settles into his address and swings but keeps his distance from the ball. What I learned from this is that I think MOST golfers stand way way to close to the ball causing them to jam up at impact... Anyway just thought I would share... Why do more golfers not do this?
  3. Plyometrics... I have several workouts from my MMA training, but there are a few cookie cutter programs on the internet to get you started. Zenolink has some really good programs and I have many of my personal ones that I can share, but they are not as geared towards the golf swing, but any plyo will have the same end results...
  4. First off, declare champ flight if you want the fairest competition. Anything flighted is a joke because most of these tournaments will let you turn in a handful of (made up score cards) to establish your handicap and flight... As far as getting ready goes, YOU ARE READY MAN. Play your shots and your game and don't get sucked into playing the leader board or your foursome. Best of Luck.
  5. I hit my 170 yard club exactly 170 yards... Lots of advantages to being "consistently" longer... Much better to have scoring clubs in your hands on long par 4's.
  6. I'm not a ReMax Long Drive champion, but my comfortable swing speed is around 118-120... I guess we are all different, but I just like the idea of hitting down. It seems to suit me and my game very well. And I also do not play the push-draw, I'm guessing my ball flight may be considered a pull-fade for a left handed golfer, I don't dare take my hands inside on the back swing because I just do not prefer that ball flight. I wish I could find Erik's ball flight diagram.
  7. Not the best video, but it's decent enough to get you started. Hopefully this one will be redone after the changes are made to S&T...;
  8. If you are not going to go after it, then why go after it at all...
  9. I think he may be flipping, scooping, etc, not sure what the correct term is. You can tell in the video that the balls are picked clean with the exception of a few that he hit behind. Another clue is that pickers, flippers like to put the ball up on a plush hitting service and you will notice in the video he spends a lot of time in my opinion rolling the ball around. When you are hitting down you don't mentally need that fluff lie in my opinion.
  10. Thanks for clearing this up Erik, I think I'll stick to the more control and less distance approach with the negative AOA.
  11. Why would you not continue with your negative AOA? It seems like we are talking about this in 3 or 4 different threads on this forum but I just do not understand the logic in changing it. I'm a lefty, but I do not like dropping my left (rear) shoulder. In my opinion doing this can very easily change your angle if you are not careful causing you to lean away from the target to feel like you are dropping the rear shoulder. I like to feel as though I am tilting towards the target with my lead shoulder which seems to keep my shoulders fairly level at address.
  12. Thanks Poser, good read.
  13. I thought Bubba had a negative AOA? I was under the assumption that hitting up created a higher spin rate. But then again I have been wrong plenty of times before.
  14. I've never really thought that it matters much what a back swing looks like, but at :09 seconds it looks great! But then again I don't have all the fancy equipment to break the swing down.
  15. If you are a 1.5 then it's not your swing that needs to be adjusted. It's either your putter or between your ears.
  16. Great Post with great data to back it up... I will never be convinced that having a negative AOA on irons and a positive AOA on Driver will ever be a good idea for my swing. I like the KISS approach.
  17. What backs up this statement other than you just saying it? I'd be willing to bet that I couldn't hit it any further...
  18. My last (5) measured by Trackman were between -1 and -2... I think hitting up on the driver is a mistake and I'm not sure why they would change their philosophy.
  19. What!!! You are supposed to be hitting up on the driver??? I am having unbelievable success hitting down a degree or two... I feel doing this keeps my irons, hybrids and woods on a similar swing...
  20. I think they will talk about having your rear leg totally removed as it is now dead weight in the golf swing! :-)
  21. YouTube will have plenty of videos for you or you can check out the fitness and exercise section of this forum...
  22. I absolutely love my Titleist 907 D2... You should be able to get one on eBay for around $100 and still have money for a 3 wood...
  23. Please post your results tomorrow as well as a video as soon as you get it. You gave an awesome post about your 10 ball transformation. I utilize every component of S&T; except for the hands inside only because I prefer a fade (Pull-Fade) over a push-draw. But when I do need that shot now (Push-Draw) I simply bring my hands way inside on the backswing... I don't believe there really is such a thing as a conventional swing. If they were to never give S&T; a name I think you would see everyone doing it... When you are comfortable with your driver consistency, start adding the "jump" piece on the downswing... Get ready for a lot of fun.
  24. I hate the term "Range" when referring to practice facilities. Too me that terminology makes we think you have a wide open place to hit balls and that is not something that can be carried over to a true course. Do this next time you are at the "Range"... Take a fresh scorecard and start on hole 1, tee your driver up and pick a target. Estimate how far you hit your drive and let's figure you have 170 yards in to a small green, grab your 6,7,8 and hit shots to your target... Don't cheat yourself either, stay with that shot until you've hit your target... I actually had a guy ask me what I was staring at, and I proceeded to layout the hole I was on and explained and pointed out an imaginary tree branch and my ideas on shot selection...
