  1. I played a round today and hit my irons as crisp and as flush as i have ever hit them. Only problem, i was a club short on each one. I have lost about a club in distance and cant really determine why. Ball flight was pretty much on target. alignment was good. i am really flabergasted. I am in my early 30s so i dont think that age has got me yet. Driver swing speed is measured around 105 on the swing monitor. My driving distance was once around 265-270. 5 iron 200. 9 iron 145. now i struggle with distance. any ideas? contemplating a swing analysis.
  2. it is a pretty good pull hook. i have a pretty strong grip and i want the ball to draw so i dont want to jerk with my grip too much. but i can aim 20 yards right of the fairway and miss it left. Thanks for the resposes guys i will check my ball position and see if that helps.
  3. I have been hitting the driver well lately distance wise. I am, however, hitting everything left. Not just a draw, but a pretty sizable hook. What exactly could be going wrong. This doesnt happen with my long irons. Any suggestions?
  4. 10. Had one today. That freaking hole kills me. Not only did i have a 10 today, but i have done it on that hole at least twice before. Also carded some 8s and 9s on that hole.
  5. Fired a personal best of 81 since i started back playing regularly. 4 birdies and a 10. A freaking 8 and I would have broken 80.
  6. Recently played a round at Old Chatham in Durham, NC. They are still working on the clubhouse and the course, but it is an awesome course. The member i was with wanted to play it from the tips...brutal. Really long and a stern test, but really nicely done.
  7. thanks, but wouldnt that result in pulls and snap hooks or could i possibly be square at impact and just be delofting. i say this because i am hitting the ball fairly straight. by the way, where in SC are you?
  8. Years ago, i had a pretty high ball flight. Especially with short irons. Since i started playing again regularly, my ball flight is particularly low. Because of this, my distance is down and i regularly find myself not knowing what club to hit. What could have caused my distinct change in ball flight.
  9. I just traded a set of Nike CCI Forged irons for a set of brand new Callaway X-16 Pro Series irons. Boy they really rape you on the trade in, but anyway I got out only spending 50 bucks. I really like the look of the Nike irons at address, but the almost blade style was realling hurting me. I thought i was ready for that type of iron, boy was i wrong. The really solid shots were too few and far between. The launch monitor told the tale. Anyway, cant wait to hit the new irons on the course.
  10. Buy the shoes. For me anyway, i am totally uncomfortable without my shoes. I dont even go to the range without them. Confidence is key in golf and a untrusted stance will lead to all kinds of problems....
  11. Shot an 82 today. My best in years. The best part was figuring out my driver. Golf Digest tip before i left for the course and my driver issues are solved. Had a 38 on the back side. 4 bogeys and 2 birdies.
  12. My best friend and i were playing a while back and we came to the tee on the 16th hole. Just as he is about to hit a dog starts across the fairway. My buddy's tee shot got about 2 feet of the ground. It was a laser beam. The dog and the ball momentarily occuppied the same space at the same time. The dog yelped and jumped about 4 feet of the ground. Best shot my friend hit all day and a dog knocks it down about 75 yards fromt the tee box.
  13. Shot an 86. Need to 2 pars on 8 and 9 for a front side 38(would have been my best side ever). Had a 9 on number 8. Destroyed my round. Parred 9 but never got back in the groove. Only 3 irons off the tee for me from now on.....
  14. Shot an 86 on Saturday with my new Nike CCI Forged irons. Took me about 6 holes to start hitting the consistantly. Played pretty well after that.
  15. How much of a divot do you take on your short to mid irons? I went to the range tonight and hit about 150 balls with my 6 thru LW. Granted it was a bit wet, but i was basically standing in a ditch when i got done. I have noticed when I am hitting the ball good i take a huge divot. But I wonder if it is too much. And if so, what could i be doing wrong? What are your experiences? Thanks.
  16. 330 by the GPS in the cart. I caught it pretty good. 500 yard par 5. Knocked it on and 2 putted for birdie. Of course I had plenty of doubles to even it out.
  17. I would suggest finding someone who can put you on the lauch monitor and hitting a variety of drivers. It made a world of difference for me. I was looking at the new Callaway FT-5, but after the fitting and the launch monitor session the pro suggested the Titleist 905T with the UST Pro shaft. Not only do I hit it longer and straighter, I saved 200 dollars. Also after the fitting and seeing the numbers i feel confident standing on the tee with my new driver and for me that is the biggest thing.
  18. Pro V1 and HX Tour 56....Gifts
  19. Seven 3 putts and 4 lost balls. All told 95 blows. Worst outing of the year. I never felt comfortable all day. Almost quit after nine. It was one of those days when i didnt do anything well. Driver was in my wife's car. Irons were going right instead of left. Shortgame nonexistant. Putting awful. Ain't this game fun?
  20. Has anyone played these irons. I am looking at a set and all i have been able to do is hit them in the store. I was wondering if anyone has them or has tried them out. Thanks in advance for you help. Jason
  21. Searching for advice on the Blade vs. Cavity Back question. Google came through for me. This looks like a pretty solid site.
  22. Unfortunately, I find myself loyal to clubs that arent made anymore. I got a set of Lynx Parallax my senior year of high school. I still love them. Occasionally, I peruse Ebay looking for a set someone has for sale. But I need new irons, so I guess I have to hitch my wagon to another star.
  23. 9 iron appoach from about 150...when it actually hits the green.
  24. I dont think anyone has mentioned this yet, but you could try the following and see what happens: Address the ball normally. Rotate your club face to a more closed position. Start with a quarter rotation. Keep your grip the same. This will give you a head start on closing the club face.
