Dynamic Gold X100. Similar to S300, but gives me a bit straighter ball flight. I tried the Project X 6.0 and they were nice, but I prefer the lower flight of the DG's.

I agree that Ernie could get up to number 2. I also think that on the right day he could take Tiger, but on that day Tiger couldn't be having his best day ever. We almost saw him do so at the Dubai Classic, but he choked on the last hole, while Tiger holed a huge birdie putt on the last hole. He obviously has the game to do it, but it remains to be seen if he can "get it done".

Anyone else have some cool headcovers?

Anybody know where I can get the Superman headcover like Lorena Ochoa? -
Have you ever recorded your swing?
Stuart replied to Buschmaster's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I have been recording my swing the last few times out, and honestly...its laughable. Throughout my life, I've been blessed with excellent hand-eye coordination, and that is the sole reason I score well sometimes. I honestly can't get over it sometimes. But it sure as heck helped me with my temper. I can't get mad at myself now when I make a bad shot, cause I know why that shot is happening. Until I sort out my swing, bad shots will undoubtedly sneak in a few times a round. That's just something I have to accept. Until I solve the issue at its root, I have to accept that getting back to a good impact position every time is nearly impossible with so many corrections to make before impact. I would urge anybody and everybody to take a look at their swings. What you feel you are doing and what you are doing are often very different. -

Helps me a lot. If nothing else, it shows me how imperfect my swing is, and how lucky I am to be able to score like I do with it, so I don't get nearly as frustrated with my game. -
Titleist all the way....

Hi All. Does anybody have any feelings for what shafts work best for wedges? Currently I use X100's in my irons, and the regular shafts that come with Titleist Vokey wedges. I need to reshaft one of my wedges (temper temper) and I am wondering if I should go ahead with the regular shaft that came with the wedge or reshaft with X100's or some other more suitable shaft. Any thoughts? Also, does anybody know what shafts pro's use in their wedges, just as a matter of interest?

Before the top of your backswing. -
Shaft Discussion - Hot Shafts? More?

Driver flex/weight/swing-speed query
Stuart replied to RichF's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I went from a 65g S to a 76g X in my driver, and from S in my irons to X. The X shafts in my irons also weigh a little bit more, but that's because the shafts have a slightly larger diameter to give it that extra stiffness. -
Driver flex/weight/swing-speed query
Stuart replied to RichF's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
A heavier shaft will be naturally stiffer than the same shaft in a lighter weight. The only way to really get it right though is to go on the launch monitor for a good session. If you don't have one available to you, then hit a few different shafts and pay attention to shot dispersion and distance. If you're all of a sudden losing distance then its either too stiff or too heavy. I don't have a launch monitor where I live, but I experimented with others peoples clubs, and found that the stiffer I went, the straight AND further I hit it. -
I agree with the contention that we all go inside to square to inside. No matter how straight I try to take the putter back, if I go back far enough my club comes inside. I have pretty much accepted this and I think I've improved just from not struggling against the natural order of it. I have been studying the majority of strokes I see, and it seems to hold true for everybody. I just finished reading Tiger's book, and am now holding the putter much lighter in my hands. That alone has improved my feel. I am also messing around with trying to keep my eye on the hole when I'm lag putting to help improve my feel for distances on the greens.

Thanks for all of your comments guys. Much appreciated. Sonic I totally agree with the idea of trusting your stroke and psyching yourself up. For some reason, some days I walk onto the green and I'll just plain old pretend to be confident and tell myself I can make any putt, and unbelievably I putt much better. Other days it seems I can't get enough energy to tell myself those lies, and resultantly, I putt like crap. Richie, my cousin recommended Pelz's clips to me a while back, so I think I'm going to try and track those down. I never seem to be able to find them whenever I happen to be in a golf store though. :(

Hahahahah....me too!!!!

I need help with my putting big time.......

Has anybody read Dave Pelz's Putting Bible? I've just bought the book, but should have asked around before I did so. Putting is definitely the weakest part of my game. Shot a 77 yesterday, but didn't even give one of my birdie putts a chance. Didn't even lip out on any of them, just plain missed them. Had 12 chances at birdie and not one. :(

Love it. What's there to hate? Open your stance a bit, accelerate through the ball, hit down on it...and you're golden. :) I am not very experienced, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but one thing that did indeed help me a lot, was to stop using it for every shot around the green. Different lies require different clubs. I use my PW as much around the green as I do the 60. I also use my 56 a lot these days as it gives a nice blend between spin and roll. I think the key is to find what works for you personally and not go off of what works for Tiger or your local pro.

Hybrid, Fairway Wood, or Long Iron ?
Stuart replied to ScottySnapps's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
5 iron if conditions are pretty normal. I actually hit my 5 iron quite a lot on my home course so its a feel good club for me. -
Cord, Tour Velvet, or Combo ?
Stuart replied to ScottySnapps's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
New Decade Multicompound. The most amazing grip. Period. -
I use a 9.5 degree Titleist 907D2. I like the 9.5 degree loft because I can launch one high if the situation requires it by teeing it up a bit higher, but I can also hit a stinger, which I find comes in more handy as time goes on. The stinger is a great shot to hit when you need to find the fairway, and it doesn't make that much difference if you're going to lose 25 yards.

I think the medical tongue route may be the best route. Sounds like a plan.

That's funny. :) I wish the french tourist girl part was true. Got my ass kicked by a girl this past weekend. Was the second round of my club's match play tournament. Had just beat a young man the day before, totally unexpectedly. He's also a 5 handicapper, but definitely more consistent than I, better swing, etc. My flatstick and good driving really saved me. Anyways the next day I am slated to play this lady from the UK. She's a 13 handicapper. I definitely should not have gone out the night before till 5am, but there you have it. She beat me so bad, the match was over by the 14 hole...lololol. Now that is an asskicking.

How Much are your Balls Worth?
Stuart replied to iacas's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I buy most of mine in the parking lot from the caddies for 80 cents a ball, pretty much brand new. Otherwise i pay $40-$50 a dozen Pro VIx when I travel. -
Which Putter do you prefer?
Stuart replied to Saturday Golfer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Then you obviously need a PGF.....duh. :) -
I started off with the Nike SP-8's, which are fantastic, but the spikes are the worst of any golf shoe out there IMHO. I then went to the FJ Dryjoy's which have incredible spikes, but fit a bit wide on my feet. I have just purchased the Addidas Powerband's which fit my foot perfectly and have a great spike. The spike is maybe not as perfect as the Footjoy's IMHO, but light years better than the Nike spikes. :)
