  1. I'm with you on the grass. I used to hit off the grass all the time in Colorado until I moved here to Northern Virginia/DC metro area. I can't stand these mats since I have been spoiled by grass.
  2. PGA 1. Woods 2. Goosen 3. Daly 4. O'Hair 5. Maruyama LPGA 1. Se Ri Pak 2. Creamer 3. JJ 4. Mi Hyun Kim 5. Wie
  3. I think it is the other way. I'm not sure on this either but when I hit my wife's clubs at the range (less flex of course) I tend to pull it.

    LPGA?

I'm with ya Shakespeare on that one.
  5. Yesterday I played 18 holes. On a 170 yd. Par 3 with an elevated green (flag tucked behind a pot bunker) I hit a horrible 5I straight into the bunker. I couldn't see the green from the bunker but used my 56 (didn't get enough loft) which got out of the bunker but eventually rolled back in. Next shot was with my 60 (face opened) which got out and trickled downhill and into the cup. Best sand save and par of my life.
  6. Missed it by 2 strokes. Does it count that he could have won with a 276? Bobkin got the score though.
  7. I think I ended up with a total of -40.
  8. I agree about the lessons and I find them fun because it's one step closer to a better swing. The things my instructor has me working on are: 1. Backswing: I overswing without knowing it and lose a lot of power. Now I try to do half swings (in my head) which actually gets my club just short of parallel at top. It has already put 20 more yards in my swing. 2. Weight Transfer: Still not getting all of my weight on my right leg during the back swing which also leads to my sometimes unbalanced finish on the follow through. I started playing golf a year ago and didn't take lessons until about 3 months ago. I was shooting upper 90s at the end of last year with my self-taught swing and after 2 lessons this year have broken into the 80s more than 10 times. Lessons are definitely worth it.
  9. Woods at 276
  10. Definitely putting because it is the only thing saving my @$$.
  11. Let me clarify...I am not a fan of Morgan Pressel. She definitely is good and has a lot of potential but I won't be rooting for her.
  12. I could care less if she went pro or not. I just can't stand crybabies.
  13. I love the 60. I don't use it to chip but use it for everything 70 yards and in. I have a slower swing speed with my wedges and pretty much take a full swing with it. All I do is choke up on it to vary my distances to try to stick it close.

    Keep Stats

I do the same thing. Keep stats when playing alone but it is time consuming when playing in a group.

    Medicus

Jim Furyk...lol. I have the medicus iron and use it only once in a while now. The only good thing about it was the fact that as a beginner I was able to understand how the club should travel on the swing plane. I wouldn't buy it...I'll sell you mine though.
  16. 1. Best 9: 39; Best 18: 84 2. Lowest ever was a -2 3. Had a -2 for 5 holes. I can't seem to put 2 good 9 holes together.
  17. I shot the best 97 I have ever had at the Patty Jewett course in Colorado Springs (3rd oldest course west of the Mississippi. I usually don't shoot this high but I'll take it after starting with a 55 on the front 9 and ending with a 42 on the back 9. It took me some time to get my irons working.

    Golf Dork Score

-55. Damn cell phones. But I would think the golf dork would be the other way around. Seems like a positive number should be the dork.
  19. Funny. After going through multiple swing thoughts about my mechanics then hitting a bad shot, my next swing thought becomes "grip it and rip it"...95% I end up fine.
  20. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I am definitely not looking into buying new irons anytime soon and may look into the whole reshafting the irons. I spoke with a pro at the shop today who agreed that pings were pretty strong lofted and also added that the Ping i3s are more difficult to bend and suggested that I wait a bit and let my swing develop. He also noticed that a lot of guys who change their swing lose a bit of yardage at first but regain it. sevenfourate: I am still taking lessons but after 3 lessons we stopped working on my swing for the most part. Now he just checks to see if I am still transferring my weight correctly which was my biggest problem - we are mostly working on my short game now. Hig4s: I do hit the 3 hybrid on avg. about 190 and have seen it go over 200 a couple of times, but I have also seen a couple of friends who hit their 5/6 iron that far. I also have a 25-30 yard gap b/w my 3 hybrid and 3 wood. I don't have a 5 wood but may need one now after playing a round at the Air Force Academy Blue course.
  21. My swing has changed dramatically over the past 2 months after lessons and my ball goes on a high trajectory with less roll. It seems like the ball floats forever in the air and I can't seem to get anymore distance. I talked to my pro and he says that maybe I should look into bending my irons a degree or two after looking at my distance gaps. I don't feel like lifting weights to gain more distance so am looking for a second opinion on this idea. Would bending my irons possibly lead to a more direct ball flight trajectory?...leading to more distance? I currently hit my 6-iron about 155-160 and have seen uglier swings go a lot farther.
  22. Hey everyone! I have been playing for a year now and just started breaking into the 80s a few weeks ago after taking 3 lessons within the past 2 months (should have taken lessons earlier). I play about 3 times a week now and am interested in improving like everyone else. Just here to learn more about equipment, techniques, etc. in order to improve my game. Looking foward to leaving some posts.
