  1. Anyone tried out the Footjoy Street Cairo golf shoe?
  2. Carbonated beverages will leach calcium from your body. Go with noncarbonated beverage.
  3. What are the better balls out there. I am a Srixon fan, but open to a change.
  4. I am reading Golf's Sacred Journey. David Cook makes any good case for face on putting. Anyone using this method? I don't see anything on Sandtrap since this thread.
  5. I prefer walking and pushing my SunMountain push cart. I think it leads to a faster paced round and I get some exercise to boot.
  6. Proof positive for the players in the next fairway!!!!
  7. Straight push. I am pretty sure it is my hands falling behind.
  8. Yes. I try to follow consistent routine on the tee box.
  9. Usually just the opposite. Start pushing and then later hit some good drives. Might be swinging too hard when I start a round.
  10. Again I am having problems pushing drives. My golf partners have commented that my hands are not catching up with my body. Consequently, I am hitting my drives to the right. Any drills to help get my hands to catch up to my body would be appreciated. TIA. This is a continual problem which I can't seem to solve.
  11. Check out Raymond Floyd's book "The Elements of Scoring." It helped get me into the low 90's consistently. I need to reread it and hopefully make another drop in my handicap index.
  12. No, but I loved reading the book The Last Putt. I could become a fan.
  13. Pulled the trigger and ordered Ping G15 irons. I am second guessing my decision to go with the 4 iron through gap wedge (Ping labels as UW). Anyone think I would be better off dropping the UW and getting a Ping Tour Wedge or perhaps Vokey or Cleveland for my 50 degree.
  14. I am 5 ' 6"
  15. Don't go with a pull cart. Those are, in fact, hard on ones back. He needs a push cart.
  16. Teed off at 8:00 this morning and was home a shortly after 11. An afternoon tee time would have easily added an hour on the round. I like being on the course, but can't stand slow play and waiting. That's why early morning tee time is by far my preference.
  17. My pars more often come from hitting a good pitch shot from 50 - 100 yards out and one putting. I don't hit a lot of greens in regulation. Hitting 3 wood or 2H from 200 yards out often gets me in trouble and can lead to a dreaded double bogey. I have been scoring better by laying up in that situation and relying on my short game rather than long approach shot. Anyone else using this course management approach? Seems like there is somewhat of a negative stigma to playing like this when everyone else is shooting for the green. At the end of the round, I would rather have the lower score by avoiding trouble.
  18. Nothing wrong with using a push cart at any age in my opinion. At the course I play I see alot more golfers using push cartts than carrying. I think it speeds up the round. I recommend the SunMountain Speed Cart.
  19. Blue Moon Summer Honey Wheat
  20. The Ping fitting van was in town and I got fitted yesterday. Have standard lie - black dot - graphite reg shaft - Aqua grip, -1/2 length. Fitter recommended G15. This seems different enough from my store bought Callaway Big Bertha set to invest in the Pings. Any thoughts? Also, wondering about whether to purchase G15's through pitching or gap wedge. I currently have standard gap wedge which I hit alot. Thanks for the help. The Ping representive seemed to know what he was doing and it was a good experience.
  21. I have the Garmin S1 watch and absolutely love it. It is very accurate and provides me with the information which I reallly need at a glance. Battery life is good and it is simple to recharge. On arriving at course all I have to do is push a button and it finds the course I am on. In addition to telling you distances to front, middle and back of the green, it can also measure distance of shots. The overiding feature for me is the abilility to look at your wrist and get the distance information you need. I did not wear a watch before purchasing the S1, but have had no trouble getting use to it. The watch is relatively light and comfortable.
  22. I'd make the hole bigger!!!!!
  23. One of my golf partners used one of these this weekend. Great idea, but I am not sure they are legal.
  24. Had problems with the driver yesterday - pushing everything to the right. My read from Mike and Andy's book is that problem is likely from inside to outside swing. I need to go more the other way and the drill I think I should focus on is using hitting over a box. Looking for confirmation that I am on the right track. Thanks.
  25. As follow up to this thread, should wedge bounce be a consideration when selecting club for hitting chips or pitches in wet muddy conditions. I seem to often hit these shots fat using my 56 degree 14 bounce wedge. Perhaps I should be looking at using my 60 degree 7 bounce wedge. Thanks.
