crosby? are you talking about sidney crosby? i think its a little early to call him the biggest sports star ever... i think kobe bryant ( who now blogs for a chinese website) is a bigger/better star worldwide than sid the kid..... sorry to burst your bubble.... i would think wayne gretzky would be ranked higher than sid....

How a swing coming over the top looks like
itzzzberny replied to Zeph's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
i had the same problem zeph. i used to play a lot of baseball and hockey growing up and i think thats where i developed my swing from. i just saw your update and its looking real good compared to your first vid. congrats on getting your swing down as for your weight transfer issue. the first move down is the weight moving to the left foot. but i read in Golf Digest from an article by trevor immelman saying to remember to brace the left leg through impact (don't let the left knee sway left through impact). that might help you from toppling over of shots. i think i remember tiger saying something similar. hope i could help... -
yea.... thats such a great idea... drop out of school... its like kids are offering up ideas.... serious buckman your the first person who I've ever seen who's approved dropping out of school...

if you don't consider little tips people try to give you on the course/range, i pretty much taught myself. which is kind of cool. knowing i got myself this far, its kinda fulfilling. but i've been told i should take a lesson to help me further my skill. hoping to go into single digit handicap. golf is just a game. but if you love golf and you find yourself stuck in a rut. paying for a 1/2 hour session is no shame. whatever it takes to get better.

Do you grab down on the grip when chipping and pitching?
itzzzberny replied to Zeph's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
i grip slightly down for pitch shots and i grip to bottom of the grip for chipping. but i use a putting stroke for all my chips (bump and run), i find it helps my consistency. i also do not wear my glove when pitching or chipping. -
i'm amazed on the length of this thread. i really don't care. i'm bored at work and noticed on how many people think the same thing i am. i was surprised that this thread was still at the top even after this weekend... maybe its time for you to go bother the people on golfwrx.com. But i think its about time for the admin to lock this one down....

Here's a great tip for you. Don't be such douche. Most people don't want to help someone who acts like a douche (i.e: you). you forget to subtract 15 strokes cause he's the the perfect example of the douche in action. what does the last line have anything to do w/ the rest of the post. and serious whats with you and using "brah" ? i mean if you born or lived in hawaii then i can't really say anything (brah is slang for bro in Hawaiian Pidgin) . but i doubt that. i mean it would be a real hoot if you've never been there and you picked it up from a movie...

what does this have anything to do with handicap? i think equipment only plays 20% as long as they are playable. 80% is still your swing/skill. you can't buy skill.... btw good luck trying to beating his 5.5 handi.... i am willing to put down 2 months rent, that you won't in a year....

says the "12ish kinda" handicapper... i'm not the only one calling you out..... usually that means.... your full of

Difference Between Irons Off Tee and Off Grass
itzzzberny replied to soloredd's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
why not have the tee shoved down to only allow the head of the tee to show? the advantage of the tee is to give you an even lie... or am i the only one who thinks this? -
IMO 1. Kobe Bryant 2. Tiger Woods 3. MJ

pipe dream..... i think to be a pro you should have your home course record. pros play at the highest level but most importantly they do it in front of huge crowds. its really not the same going for a 210 yard par 3 with people crowding around the tee, fairway and green. trust me, when you have over 50 sets of eyes watchin your every move (no including the people watching on tv). your gonna probably get a little nervous. but there are people who can compete at their highest level with that pressure.

i make it simple. i tee up to the ball so that the middle of the ball is at the top of the driver head. so if get too aggressive and hit make contact with the floor, 50% of the ball is still in the path of the ball. a straight pop up. but when i swing i try to focus on not letting my head move left/right or further/closer to the ball. i haven't hit a fat drive shot or top in a long time now... fix the swing and don't change set ups to fix a bad swing...

need help with iron distance...
itzzzberny replied to itzzzberny's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
you know what.... i think that might be the problem... when i hit w/ my wedges i always have all my weight in the front and the ball back in my stance (encourages leaving a divot). when i hit my irons i sometimes set up the same as i would my driver (sweeping;no divot - very small divot ). of course playing the ball a little forward than middle for 4i-5i , mid for 6i-8i back for 9i-lw. -
need help with iron distance...
itzzzberny replied to itzzzberny's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
thank you everyone for your responses. all my clubs are standard length. i want a little more distance on my long irons. my irons came w/ the option to pick 4-sw or 3-pw... i picked the 4-sw... any one have good tips for hitting the long irons? should i pick up a 3 iron or maybe like parker said pick up a 4 hybrid... i really think i could go single digit handicap, but i work full time and play basketball every weekend.... wish i had more time to hit the links... -
i can drive the ball 270-300 yards. yet my irons distance is pretty short. how can i gain more yardage on my irons? my average distances: driver- 280 3 wood- 230 3 hybrid- 210 4 iron- 185 5 iron- 175 6 iron- 165 7 iron- 155 8 iron- 145 9 iron- 135 pw- 125 sw - 115 lw - 100

swing tempo to me is the timing of the swing. if i were to count 1, 2, 3 ,4. my back swing would be on 1 and 2 . 3 would be me at the top of my swing 4 would be the actual swing. i feel that a nice slow yet steady backswing can really help me get into the right tempo. you shouldn't be trying to swing it at fast/hard from the back swing or at the beginning of your swing. if anything you should be trying to kill the ball when you down swing is half way down. for me roughly when my hands are about waist high. give that a shot and remember tempo can really boost your game when you have it locked in.

problem with sweaty hands/moisture?
itzzzberny replied to King Cobra II's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
i see we are bringing old posts back from the dead. HAHA... this is the best comment in this thread... solution: just carry a towel to wipe your sweaty hands... -
don't get me wrong. if you can reach it in one, do it. but for the sake of trying to play consistent, you gotta make wise decisions. its okay to play aggressive but there is always the time and place to do so. ie: don't go for the gusto if the green is surrounded by bushes/trees/cliff. i mean thats just common sense. if you got a green and its surrounded only by grass and maybe 1 trap, it could be good time to be more aggressive. but it all depends on each player and how comfortable they are w/ their long shots. good luck w/ your game.
-
you have to play a bit more conservative. every shot doesn't have to be the highlight of the day. 230 yards to the green: maybe instead of trying to reach it in one, go for a lay up leaving a easy 20 yard pitch. sometimes trying to reach for a shot will leave you a crappy lie behind a tree/bush or even in the trap a bit too close to the lip. if it were me i would always keep my swing very relaxed (75% effort) my shots won't be as long but i can manage the course better and be much more consistent.

What's your latest swing thought?
itzzzberny replied to kfowler's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
you should use the weight transfer to your front foot ( if you pick up your heel then the starting move is planting the heel back down.) cause when you do that your ams naturally drop down. 1. i focus on the ball but more focused on staying in the same position. not swaying with the swing and not reaching down or standing up away from the ball. 2. don't try to kill the ball, until right before contact. slow and steady backswing, even my first move down is not rushed and then when hands are about waist high on the way down, i go for broke.
