shaft in Titleist 906F2 18*
23Rounder replied to ndirishgolf's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I certainly sounds like the club to me. Is the hosel damaged at all? I used to have the same club but with a YS-6 shaft and it definately didn't have a pronounced draw bias. -
20+ handicappers hitting 300 yards (mild rant)
23Rounder replied to extremeld's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Personally I don't hit the ball anywhere near 300 yards but I have seen a guy of 18 hit it this far. Obviously he can't hit it straight all the time (quite rarely actually) but if he does hit it straight it travels at least 270+ which being a 240-250 hitter is quite frustrating for me! -
Out of your list, the Nike is probably the most forgiving. I love my Titleist but choose it more because I was comfortable with its look and sound (which improves my confidence and swing!) but it really depends what works for you. If have get the change, try them out at a store or borrow one off a friend if you can before you purchase one sight unseen on ebay. 3balls golf have some great deals on ebay though and I have bought several clubs from them myself and all were in great nick

At Address - Ground Club or Hover?
23Rounder replied to JackB1's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I rest mine on the ground. I attempt to lift it just before take away but find that I struggle for balance if I try to hover it -
1-hybrid instead of 3-wood?
23Rounder replied to hamletsdead's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I have tried a 1 hybrid in the past, but I much prefer a 3 wood (more a 2-wood for me really at 13 degrees). Personally I find hybrids comparatively difficult to hit off the tee which is a major part of my 3-woods role. -
To qualify my vote, Tiger is the only one I have really seen play (Jack only towards the end of his career) but I cannot go past Tiger as I can not imagine that any other golfer ever has had the mental strength he possesses. The man is a freak

It has happened to me before and is very frustrating especially when you are having a good round and just hit a great drive that everyone in your group saw land in the middle of the fairway. I am assuming you already know this but incase you don't, if you want to follow the rules correctly you don't have the option of dropping a ball where you think it stopped and taking a two stroke penalty. The only option is to declare the ball lost and walk back to the tee to hit another. You are still penalised and are now hitting 3 off the tee.

"My game is just one major purchase away from greatness"
23Rounder replied to Dub's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I won't deny that I suffer as well. I have just this week replaced by 907D1 with a D2 and Vokey 60.04 with a 58.12. I had an FT-5 only 6 months ago!! -

It looked good for Scotland's Raymond Russell heading into the last round of the 2001 Compass English Open at the Marriott Forest of Arden course. On the 17th green, and 2 holes away from a top 10 finish, he threw his ball to his caddy for cleaning. The caddy missed the ball and it rolled into the lake. They searched the lake but couldn't find it and the the result was a two-stroke penalty and over £4,000 in prize money. http://www.scigolf.com/scigolf/19th/strange2.htm

If you plan on playing with it then definately re-grip. In reality it is probably worthless so regrip regardless.

The Z-URS and Z-ZURC are both great golf balls. They are Srixons equivalent of the ProV1 and ProV1x respectively. In the end it is personal choice but it is well worth purchasing a sleeve if you have the chance. I have used the AD333 and Tri-Speed as well but was not a big fan

I think Jack makes some great points and I don't think it is sour grapes. The reality is that Tiger is responsible for a large percentage of the prizemoney increases over the last 10 years and you certainly can't say he doesn't earn his money. I think todays players should just be thankful they are playing in such prosperous environment.

It was fantastic to see him contend again. I can't wait for Augusta next year now. I think top 4 at the British Open will qualify him (I think it did in the past anyway)

4.79 per gallon? that would be 6.60 in Australia prices at the moment. You get of really cheap!

Rod Pampling Adam Scott Sergio Garcia Ernie Els Geoff Olgilvy (I won't deny that my favourites are skewed just a little towards Australians!)

What wedge/loft combo are you using?
23Rounder replied to JYB's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Eye2+ W which is 50.5, Vokey SM54.10 and SM60.04. I would like to get my 54 changed to a 55 but haven't got around to it -
I am from a non Ryder Cup country but am a big fan of the event. I honestly believe that the US Team would be better off without someone who chose not to qualify / play in the US Open and the British Open. They are the two premier tests of golf each year and I think golfers should be excluded from representing their country if they don't play these two majors. (Missing through injury not counting of course)

I have been using Lintz's golf stats which is free (See below link) for the last 8 months or so. It is very simple and does a good job. http://lintz.byethost13.com/ I have also tried the demo of Scorecard that a lot of people use on this forum and I liked it better as it had a few extra options and has a nice layout but I would have to start entering scores from scratch again which makes it meaningless for the first few months. I sometimes mark an extra card (as we have to hand our comp cards in) but often just enter the scores from memory as soon as I get home. Not so easy on a foreign course but not a problem with my regular course as I can picture the holes easily

Great on the range, flop Poor on the course
23Rounder replied to ardman's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
From my experience hitting of mats at the range, see if you can avoid it and use grass tees if possible. I think one of the issues is that when you hit a shot fat at the range the club can't dig in and the ball is still stuck well so you don't realise you are stricking the ball so badly. On grass the same swing will dig in and be a terrible shot. All I can suggest is be very concious on the range of striking the ball cleanly even though the feedback is not as obvious as on course. Just my 0.02 but I would be interested to hear what others think -
It was the most expensive book I have bought in a while and I think a lot of it was too technical but the best idea in it was the 3x4 wedge system as others have mentioned as well. Personaly I think 4 wedges it too many but the clocking idea is great. Now I just need the time to practise my clocked swings more to get more accurate distances.

Ours is 72 holes strokeplay over 3 weekends. Saturday, Saturday and Saturday / Sunday. It is graded into A 0-10, B 11-17, C 18-27. The top 16 from each grade then qualify for the matchplay.
