Daly, Woods, AK, Mcilroy are all great shouts. For a lot of the Pros, when they hit their 40s - their Careers seem to wind down, e.g Monty but some are still just as good.. Surprised no one has mentioned some of the Older guys like Kenny Perry, MA Jimenez etc. Perry, about a year and a half ago seemed like he was winning almost everything or there abouts, and at age 48 was fantastic. Same with Jimenez, he started this season (Nov/Dec in Europe) not so great and missing a few cuts and probably had some doubters seeing if this was his decline, but he proped up and won in Dubai. Fred Couples, seems to be the 'Old Tiger' of the Champions Tour, if that makes sense? He's too good, maybe? These guys are all still playing good golf and all made the cut at the first Major of the year, with Freddie challenging for the title right up to the back 9 on the final day.

Apart from a few 5 footers - the closest that I ever came to getting one was on a course that I play quite often, but not all the time. Par 3 - 90 Yard - elevated tee (sounds harder than described with sand to the right of the Green and Trees to the left) The shot itself was a fluke and I shanked it to the left where it hit a tree and then rolled over the hole at some pacce wit it stopping 3 feet from the hole. So, my only near attempt at a Hole 1 was a complete mistake :)

Is KJ sponsored by the Korean government? He seems to wear the South Korean flag on all his hats now.

Hey Folks, First round of 2010 for me. I really had meant to get out earlier this year, but work and bad weather meant I couldn't make it - It felt like every weekend that I was free to hit the Course that there was some issue with the Weather or I had other plans, but anyhoos... Went to the Range on Saturday and felt good - Hit about 75% of Shots, the way that I want to hit them, although my wrist and arms were very sore after a long period of not playing. I have been playing Squash a lot through Winter andd play 2/3 times a Week so was a bit surprised that my wrists would be feeling so tender. I went out with my Dad and started pretty awful, constant hooking/slicing and the first 6 holes were a struggle - probably looking at about 10/11 over through 7 Holes - a bit of unluck too, I must say ;) but, as the day went on and esp on the back 9 - I was picking it up again, and managing to get a few GIRS, 3 Pars, 5 bogeys, and a double bogey, compared to my 6,7,5,7,7 or something at the very start. Shot 92 on a course of 68 - so not perfect, and still work to do, but if I had started good and ended badly, I'd have been more disappointed but the way I ended gave me hope for the Season. I really hope to work on my game alot this year, but work is just mega right now and not had a chance to get out, going to hit the range hopefully mid-week andd work on my accuracy from 100 yards out and correct those drives.. Here's to 2010:)

I've neglected Golf for a few months now, due to Work commitments and not having access to a Car to get to the Course (My Course is out in the middle of nowhere). I think my last round was in October, but was playing fairly well at the time. I went to visit a good friend of mine in Dubai and scored +10 on the Emirates which was delighted with. Played a Par 3, 9hole course and shot +2, but missed so many silly putts from 4-5 feet for Birdies, but hey, can't complain.. Again, another year of improvement. 2010 will be my third year of playing Golf, and in 2009 I hoped to drive better, shave shots of the h/cap, chip/pitch better, and continue to improve around the greens and mentally also, not burden on the thoughts of bad shots. Overall, I've done well, my handicap is down too from around 21 to now 17. My driving woes which I had early 09 fingers crossed x x have improved and I seem to be driving a lot better, or I was last time I was playing. 2010 Goals.... * To play as much as I can, I was hoping to get out this Weekend, but Snow stopped that, but I want to play as much as I can. I cannot wait to see the light nights again, and get out in the evening of April -September, even if it's just 6/9 Holes, just to get out on the course and playing. * Continue not to mull over bad shots, focus on the next one, there's nothing you can do about the last one, and take time over shots. I found myself when playing poorly, would not take care/time over the next shot, which resulted in a ''couldn't care'' attitude and scoring a lot higher than I should've. If you focus, take time and again, concentrate on the next shot. * I'm pretty happy overall with my game, but if I really need to work on my Bunker shots, I'm so hit and miss in the bunkers, sometimes I can play a genius shot, but then sometimes, I'll mess up. I need to conquer this, I'm quite consistent at finding the fairway, but I need to learn how to hit better from the sand because it does happen a few times, and it can break my round if going well and on track to make a record score. * If I can shed more scores on my handicap, I'd be happy. I've not counted my h/cap proper for a few months or so, but I was scoring average 3 shots better than my actual handicap so if I can continue to score well on my home course, that'd be fine, but my main goal is to play consistently decent golf and get round my course well. * Get an official handicap and go out with one of the refs from the Club. I use my own handicap scorer on the computer, so no one has confirmed it at the club, but I don't cheat so it is realistic but until someone confirms it, it's just an 'rough estimate' Happy 2010 golfing folk

I say maybe a Pro-Am? Arnold's tournament maybe, like someone said on the first page, Arnold loves Tiger and a more fun-like tournament and a change for Tiger maybe to relax a bit and try work round what's going to be a super-scrutinsed year by the media.

As a Scot, our game has been in the doldrums for a few years, with no one in the top 100 rankings and Monty on the way, or so it looks, it was great to see Richie win today in South Africa. Well done to him, and just hope he can go from strength to strength in 2010 and with some exciting young talent coming through, hopefully we can climb the Golf Rankings as a Nation again. What a beautiful course at Pearl Valley in Paarl, Western Cape, South Africa it looks, would love a trip down there someday in that part of the World to play on their courses. The Alfred Dunhill was an excellent tournament last week and they have some amazing courses in South Africa. Molinairi looks like he's on topform right now and probably doesn't want to see the Christmas break as he's been playing superb recently after his year on the Challenge Tour here in Europe. Also, another great tournament from Pablo Martin of Spain, after his success last week at the Alfred, he showed he's got some great potential and after excellent consistent Spaniard he looks. Once again, I doubt he read this forum, but well done Richie and good luck for 2010.

Played 2 Rounds on Friday afternoon. 89 over a 66 Course, didn't hit the ball well at all and struggled a lot on the Greens. Really some basic errors. 86 over a 68 in the evening game. Played well and a complete polar opposite from the Morning Round. Who knows what'll happen next

+2, but only played 7 Holes. Heavy Rain the cause of my exit from the course, but felt good hitting the Driver, something that I have not felt good for a long-time doing. So hopefully some good weather and back out tomorrow on the Course.

Maybe not 30-50 yard range, but I have been working on a few ideas. Using a 3Hybrid with my putting stroke from the fringe, or just off the green. I am so/so at Chipping and I really need to work more at it, but I have started going with a Hybrid 3 and using my putting stroke to help me from this awkard areas. I've noticed a vast improvement, and played 9 today. I've only started this Hybrid/Putt since yesterday, but noticed a lot more of a solid stroke and closer to the green from those awkard areas. Give it a go, but try practising beforehand as it can come off the face and some speed sometimes if you take a firm one.

I am feeling reasonably comfortable with my Iron, Hybrid and Wood Hitting. I don't mean to harp on, but I have made some great progress, coming from a 36 Handicap beginner - 2 years ago. A lot of the progress has been simple mistakes, e.g. allignment, ball position, grip etc. I am now getting to a stage, where I am making a lot of GIRs, or near enough. I have some time off now, and I hope to work my way around my Short game. I am getting on, but if I do come up short, I am not confident with my short game. My working aims are - Confident and Secure around the 10-60 yard mark around the Green, If I miss a GIR, I want to give myself a decent change at making Par, and not crawling onto the green for a 40 foot Par 4 putt. - Bunker/Sand Play I am still a complete novice at this part of my game and have not dedicated enough time to hit, but I will. Even today, I took a 8 on a Par 4 that I should've got out first time. I'm either too fat or too thin with my Sand Shots. Although, I tend to hit the ball quite straight, it still does go in there, and I should sort this out, as It could save me the odd blow up like I did today. Driving I'm hitting Hybrid/3Wood from the Tee often, and feeling good about it. My Driving is a bit hazardous, thankfully, I very rarely need Driver on the course, but I need to be able to feel confident hitting it and although the Par 5 at my Course(9Hole Course) is only 530 Yards. I am often short with my 2nd/3rd shot. So, a busy week or two, or, more like years will be ahead!

41/42 83 over a 68 Course. 9 Hole Course doubled through 18. A few GIRs and overall, a good round.

I think Tiger just has not played good Golf. He struggled away through the Course and hit too many wayward shots. You need accuracy to play Links Course, I play them often and the fairways are not as wide as St. Andrews here or the rough as difficult. I'm sure he'll bounce back, he'll go back home and work on his game with his coach, esp his driving.
-
I like watching both of them play, but Rory still has four years to catch up Martin. I like Martin and enjoy watching him play, his putting is superb at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised to see him with a top 10/20 finish this week.

M.A. Jimenez - I love his swing, the mechanics around it and how he gets on with his Golf without throwing clubs around like Mr Woods, Poulter etc. Miguel - one of the good guys! Hope he goes on and wins The Open!

Played 2 rounds at my Dad's Course. A small 5,500- 66course on Friday. First round shot, 86, and second round scored a 82. Today, played again and scored a 81.. Great that the scores are coming down!
-
Played 2 rounds on the 9 Hole - Par 34 Course. Shot 41, and 43 - 84 from 68. Double Bogey'd the last hole after hitting my first ball into the Water, managed to get up and down with 3rd from the tee. Best score so far is 40, so If I managed to nail it first time and save Par, I'd have scored 39, but cannot complain too much.

Hey, I'm from Angus on the East Coast.

I kinda know what you mean, and agree a lot with that. My scores are dramatically improving. Very seldom do I see two or three 8/9s on the Score Card now, but overall my ball stirking, GIRs, and general course management are improving fast. I now feel disappointed if I don't make a GIR on a Par 4 or 3. The most frustrating thing with my Golf is that the first two holes at my course, just seem to hang on my mind. a Par 4, and 5. Usually going into the Par 3 with a plus 2/3/4 on my scorecard. The last 5 times, I've hit GIRs on the Par 3 and usually sunk the Par or a Birdie, If I could somehow get to the 3rd Hole with +1 or so on the Par, I think it might be quite interesting for my mental side to see how I'd cope with the rest. I've recently been scoring, +6 through 9 on my course, and usually the 3/4 dropped shots of the round are at the first two holes. The Par 5 is not particulary hard either. 510 Yards, but the rough is brutal so the key is fairway. The First Hole again, 440 par 4, it has a dip in the middle around the 230 mark so if you get your Driver, even fairway/hybrid 3 sweet, you'll get the extra roll maybe 40 yards to set you up with a nice go for the Pin, which only has 2 Bunkers on the far side. The trouble is, from the tee box, there are 4 Log Cabin Houses to the right, Wild Rough, which if you find is hard to get out and a knock on into the fairway. Overall, I can't complain.. I'm hitting the ball pretty good overall, the sweet-spot most of the time. My distance charts are usually quite good, putting is improving a lot. If I could and should look to improve my Bunker Shots and Driving, I'd be over the moon.

Depends on who I am with, *If alone, I'll practise swing for a while and look around at the Scenery. If there is no group behind and I am awaiting to go on the Next tee, I'll practise putting/chipping around the Green. *If with a Golfing Buddy, we usually get our drivers out and play 'Golf Hockey'. Stand with your legs open (a 5 iron stance) and you have 1 shot each to score a Ice Hockey style goal through the opposites legs, both using drivers. I seem to be better at this both saving and scoring, than hitting Driver.

Played 14 Holes or so on Monday at my Dad's Course. +1 through 6 Holes, and after 2 doubles and a bogey on 7,8,9 - kinda dampend the spirits. We decided to play 15,16,17 and 18 as I was allergic to something and sneezing/coughing, feeling pretty bad (just after the 7thHole aswell ) and Bogey'd every hole out from there. Hopefully going up to my Course tomorrow, to play 2 rounds of 9..

I'm making pretty good progress with my Goals for 09, but really would love to sort out.. * 3 Irons off a tee (I struggle with these) * Sand/Bunker Shots (Constantly costing me 2 Shots, as I can only just seem to get it out or either over power it past the Green) * Driving (gain more distance, and straighter drives). If I could fix these issues by the end of the summer and continue the way that I am playing right now, I'll be a very happy golfer.

Played Friday and Today, - 40 on Fri and 41 Today - 9 Holes - 34 - It's coming to place and I'm at a place where I feel very happy with my progress. Still the odd mistake, but my GIRs are making me very ambitious and happy.
