  1. I really like the SFT-2 from Nike. I would play the One Blacks if I could afford to hit around a 4 dollar golf ball.
  2. I really like Benoit, Hiroshi and Kevin. I believe that Hiroshi has the best chance of taking it all. He made some really good shots and seems to handle the pressure better than the other players. I thought that Josh's shot to eliminate Matt E was awesome. He really stepped up and just nailed it.
  3. I just picked the clubs that I feel most comfortable with. I just recently got my driver straightened out and I feel really comfortable with it. The only club on there that I don't feel comfortable with is my putter. Still trying to work "Mr. Wobble" out. Driver - great distance and I am really comfortable with it. 3-iron - i only lose a little distance between this club and my fairway woods and I am a lot more consistant with it. 7-iron - my go to club for approach shots. this is the club I practice most with. If i had to go out with just one club it would be this one (could probably putt with it as well) PW - Another club I pratice with alot. I have very few mishits with it. Putter - common sense, my putting is bad enough and would get worse if I had to use another club on the green.
  4. Well, I went to Target on my lunch break and they had the Nike Ignites on clearance for 12 bucks so I picked up a dozen. I haven't heard much on the boards about them but I really like the Mojo's and this should be a step up from them. I'm not willing to go to a real expensive ball. To many of mine end up in the woods to spend a lot of money on them. I actually picked up a dozen used Top Flites from Tartet last week and shot the lowest round of my life (87 which is 15 over on my course) and made my first birdie. I will let you guys know how I like the Ignites.
  5. Welcome to the forum.
  6. Woods added that he would consider playing certain PGA Tour events next year if Commissioner Tim Finchem allows him to spot the field 10 strokes, play at night, and use only a single golf ball and a 2-iron . That's the best part of that whole article.
  7. That's the reason for the thread, I didn't know if there was any other reason for going with graphite except for increasing distance. I don't have any problem with distance (hit my 4 iron right at 185 yards). I've been seriously thinking about picking up a set of old school Ping Eye2's. I hit a set back when I first started playing and I loved them. I know that a lot of guys on here have a lot of success with them so I might go that way. I'm just not really happy with the irons that I am playing now. I don't expect a lot out of them since they were a cheap set but I started out playing my dad's old Wilson blades that he bought back in the 80's and I liked them better than the clubs in my bag now.
  8. I don't know if I want to make the move to graphite shafted irons. I'm very strong with my irons and I play with steel shafts right now and love them. Is the only advantage of going with a graphite shaft more distance? If so, then I am going to stay away from them. Let me know what you guys play with.
  9. I was just at Walmart looking at balls and they have Callaway CX3 Hot's. Anybody using those? I've never heard of them until I saw them tonight.
  10. I think I am going to try this list out to see which one I like the best: Callaway Big Bertha Callaway HX Hot Nike Ignite Srixon Tri-speed Bridgestone E5 or E6 Obviously not going to go out and buy them all at one time, but I really like the idea of the lower priced three piece balls like the HX Hot, Tri-speed and the Ignite. I will see how it goes, thanks for all the help fellas. Any more suggestions would be great.
  11. Yeah, I did Callaway's ball selector and that is what they recommended me use. That is what I am probably going to go with. Just wondering if anyone else has some suggestions. Brand doesn't really matter as long as it is a good ball. Basically looking for a good ball for the money.
  12. I've been using Nike Mojos for a while now and I have been thinking of moving to a different ball. Before we go any further, let me say that I am a college guy that has been married for a month to the day so money is a little tight for me. Feel is definately more important to me than distance. I know the more expensive balls are going to give more feels but there has to be something out there under 30 bucks that will give me more feel that the Mojos. I have been thinking of moving to a Callaway ball but I am not for sure which one to go with. I drive about 240 yards with a very cheap driver so I am not really worried about picking up distance. I am actually fairly happy with the Mojos. I went to them after playing really cheap Cougars. Let me know what you think since I will probably go out and pick some balls up this weekend.
  13. Yeah, the more that I look the more I want to stay away from Ebay. Most of the clubs are sold "as is" and with no warranty. Some of the bigger sellers offer the warranty and a return policy but you end up paying about the same amount you would from an online retail store.
  14. That sucks...
  15. You are probably feeling the effects of a long time of bowling. I bowled seriously for about seven years in scholarship tournaments and in my highschool league. I carried about a 195 average but just those couple of years did some damage to my elbow and my right hip and I'm only 24 (quit bowling about four years ago). I've had a very bad pain in my hip for about three and a half years but my elbow is fine now. Doctor said that my hip is a soft tissue injury but it hasn't healed at all even with medication. I do just like ettsn said, I take an Alieve before I play a round. It usually doesn't bother me just practicing but if I have to do a lot of walking it starts to bother just about when I start on the back nine. Good luck with your hand and you might want to get a doctor to look at it to make sure you don't have any kind of nerve damage.
  16. I was thinking about getting this but I still need to finish up 07. I bought Blue Dragon instead and with Assasins Creed and PGR4 coming out soon I don't know when I will be able to pick it up. I wish that they would come out with another Hot Shots game, I really enjoyed playing it for the original Xbox.
  17. I'm just a little worried about if I have a problem with one of my clubs that I will be stuck with it. Lets say that I buy a club from Ebay and on my first round with it the head develops a crack or something else goes wrong with it. If I bought it from Dicks Sporting Goods then I can go back out there and get another one right away. On the other hand, if I bought it from ebay the guy could have skipped town or it might take forever to get my club back. I guess that is why you pay full retail for that convenience.
  18. Mine does the same thing. If I try to putt accross the living room floor he will have the golf ball in his mouth before it gets anywhere close to the practice cup. I have to lock him in another room or put him in the back yard in order to practice on the carpet.
  19. Also, if you notice how far ahead he gets his weight when he starts his downswing. That always made a big difference for me. If I could focus on doing that then my hands just follow my body and I end up making the correct contact with the ball.
  20. I use Nike Mojos and I love them. I am moving up from a really cheap ball though since I can't afford the higher priced balls like the Pro V1's. I've hit almost every other ball in it's price range and the Mojo performs better for me. Plus, at 20 bucks you won't be pissed if you end up losing one. I think my next move will be to the Bridgestone balls, I have been hearing a lot of good things about them.
  21. I guess I meant where you buy from the most. I am sure that if I find a really good deal at either an online store or Ebay that I will pick it up. For the most part, I'm like you, I like to support the local guys.
  22. Just wondering where most of you guys get your equipment. I'm a little sketchy on buying from ebay but you can get some incredible deals on there. Edit: This is meant for where you buy the most. I am sure that most of you buy from multiple places including used equipment but just vote for the one that you are most likely to buy from.
  23. I usually practice three times a week for about a hour and half. I am really just trying to work on my stamina and my driving when I am at the range. I also go out in the yard at least every other day and work on chipping. I work at least 40 hours a week at a bank so it is hard to work in practice time. BTW, ClintonM3 is that your Boston in your avatar? I've got a year and a half old Boston named Gizmo.
  24. I always thought that would be a good cardio workout for golf. It would help build muscle in your back and arms while helping you lose weight. I may move from jogging to that and see how it turns out.
  25. My suggestion would be to go buy some of those cheap whiffle golf balls at a sporting goods store. The ONLY reason I am able to shoot lower rounds is because I am very strong with my irons. I get a lot of loft on the ball and a lot of distance if needed. The way that I got like this was getting out in the front yard with my irons and hitting whiffle balls back and forth. This may not work for you, but it really helped me with my irons. I was able to work on my swing without having to worry about breaking a window and it is something that you can do if you have fifteen minutes of spare time. This really helped me build confidence in my swing and I could focus on making sure that the club head was where I wanted it at the bottom of my swing. If I could just get my drives down now I could really lower my handicap. Oh, and it seems like you are making amazing progess. If you have lowered your score by 20 strokes in just two-three months then you are doing a very good job. I am in the same boat as you, I'm 24 and played when I was younger but just took the sport back up recently.
