  1. I still watch quite a bit of TGC. I miss Peter. He was the best host they ever had IMO. I used to never miss Golf Talk Live. I also wish they would show more of the instructional shows, (academy live etc.) like they used to, and do away with some of the 19th hole and the Turn type shows. And I can really do without the fad 'reality' programming like HWY 18. There tournament coverage has really improved however. I'm really glad they picked up 1st and 2nd round coverage of the PGA events.
  2. I've cut down several putters to 33" myself. I usually just regrip with a new grip, but with the right tools it's fairly easy to remove and reuse the current grip. As stated, there will be a slight change in weight distribution, so you can adjust for that if you think it may be needed.
  3. I've put three rounds on mine since I got it and so far so good. I use normal Duracell alks.
  4. From the fairway I usually like a little less bounce angle than the typical sand wedge. My sig shows what combos I use. The less the bounce, usually the easier they are to hit from tighter lies. This also explains a little more: http://www.golfbidder.co.uk/Golf_Club_Bounce_angle.htm
  5. I'll say first I'm no foot doctor. But all my years on my feet at work and frequent vist to my chiropracter for my lower back and SI issues that flare up from time to time I've been able to learn a little info on foot support health. It sounds like you may be correct in thinking you favored the flater style insole, since it sounds like you have a flatter foot versus a higher arch foot.(which is also like myself) The typical insole is aimed at a medium to high arch foot, thus probably causing your foot to arch in an unatural fashion. Myself, I also usually need to go with a flater/firmer insole to let my arch relax and not extend upward in an unatural manner. While it's possible for someone to have a very high arch and need a high arch insole, it's not nearly as common as someone needing a flatter platform. I would give the flatter ones a little time, as they may prove to be the solution. And as odd as it may sound, most people find their feet to be much more comfortable after extended periods (walking course/long day at work etc) with firmer insoles instead of the 'soft comfort' types they advertise so heavily.
  6. I have one of the 07' R7 stand bags, http://webpages.charter.net/spyder_92/r7%20bag3.jpg which is esentially the same bag with the new TMX having just a few cosmetic mods. I absolutely love mine. As with all stand bags of this size there is some friction due to limited room at the bottom of the bag with the grips squeezing in, but I've never had the so called 'tangled' or 'getting stuck' problem. Plenty of room in plenty of pockets. Very well constructed. I think you would be very happy with the TMX.
  7. What part of your foot was the ache occuring in? That can mean a lot as to whether it's the shoe or simply finding the correct insole/support. As someone who is on my feet all day on a concrete floor I've come to know that the most comfortable shoe you can buy is absolutely useless, and can become quite painfull unless you find an insole or orthodic that confoms to the shape and movement of your foot.
  8. I've been comenting on this topic for some time now to my fellow golfing pards, but wanted to grumble a little here. Looking through the august issue of Golf magazine last night and stoped at the "6 best new putters" article and just had to think: "how friggin far will putters go before they become so large and but ugly until people say enough already?" Now I'll admit that I'm a fan of mallet style outters. I use a Cameron RedX currently, and have a couple of other putters of that style I'll swap in and out from time to time. (odyssey,F2). But some of these things are starting to look like hood ornaments on a 63 Buick or some large part of an alien craft that was lost in a quick flyover. I know everyone has their own opinion on equipment and that's a great thing, it keeps the market alive and thriving, but to me these thing are starting to look ridiculously tacky. I mean, the putter head does not need to be bigger than the driver head does it? I keep waiting to show up at the practice green and look over and see some guy with a Galagher hammer painted aluminum with a jumbo grip bitching about not finding the sweet spot. Geeesh!! Go ahead, flame away.
  9. I miss the old Golf Channel I really used to like Peter Kessler during his time with TGC. In my opinion the best host they ever had. He had a very inteligent and calm demeanor that was just very easy and interesting to watch. I used to never miss an episode of Academy live. I also miss watching all the instructional shows they once aired. Some I never really gained a lot of 'use' from, but I felt that it was the type of programming that the Golf Channel should be about. And of course the tounament coverage, which thankfully they've remained true to and even increased to a point. It seems lately with some of their material that they are trying to become just another tabloid/propaganda outlet that so many of the news outlets have been deduced to.
  10. This probably explains it better than I can: http://www.golfbidder.co.uk/Golf_Club_Bounce_angle.htm
  11. One reason I like watching the European tour coverage on the Golf Channel. Many times they concentrate their 'chatter' at least on the shot or conditions of the shot at hand. Heh, they even sometimes have little wind direction graphics on the screen or course contour mapping. Who would have ever thought the viewer may be interested in the technical aspects of the game?
  12. Definately go for the wedge. I have three of the TM TP's like that in my bag. Fantastic wedges.
  13. I agree with the other responders. If it feels good and works good for you, then you should definately stick with it. There's always plenty of room for fine tuning and improving your personal style once you get a solid swing foundation you can consistantly reproduce. I've watched & seen a lot of instructional videos and tips over many years, some I've been able to gain some info from and fuse them into 'my style' and my game. Others have been in total opposition to the way I swing and play. If one swing and one technique fit everyone then there would be a lot of instructors and marketing people out of work very quickly.
  14. Amen!! Don't get me wrong, I don't take anything away from Tiger or what he has meant/brought to the game. But I'm still enjoying watching the coverage and actually enjoy it a little more when Tiger's not playing. At least we don't have to sit through 3-4 hours of detail (or rebroadcast detail if he played prior to airtime) of Tigers every move on the course. I mean, they are other golfers in the mix here. I don't blame Tiger for any of this. I completely blame the over hyped media.
  15. I'm kinda partial to TaylorMade myself, so that would be my recomendation. The R5 was a great club line.
  16. I've been playing the DD series since it's introduction. I've liked them all. I played the origianl DD before switching to the DD2 and really liked those also. Then I switched to the standard DD2, then to the midsize after trying just one out on a driver. Really the only reason I switched was the feel factor of the midsize DD2.
  17. Thanks for the reply. Like you, I consider myself a feel player also. If it doesn't look and feel just right I'm just not gonna play it well. I really don't know what caught my eye on the F2 putters, but something in the style and looks I like. And after thinking about the supposed insert technology I though, 'well, if designed correctly that does have merit'. My one concern is that for the last few years all I have played is center shaft model putters. It would probably take some getting used to the visuals of the offset hosel design again. However I do see on the F2 website they now have a HM6 model with the double bend. I also prefer a mallet design. Usually I play the Cameron RedX2 on the quicker bent greens I mostly play. I'll usually switch to the TM Monza Corza on the grainy slower bermudas. I like the idea of the heavier weight in smaler head design the F2 may offer.
  18. I did a few searches but couldn't really turn up any info here, so forgive me if this has already been discussed. But, I actually watched a few minutes on and off when the F2 Hamilton putter infomercial was on the Golf Channel this morning. Yep, there was recently an imfomercial thread also. Just wondering if any of you have, or have tried the F2 putters? I'm curious about the HM4 or the HM6 mallet models. I know much of the info on the infomercials is at least stretched to almost BS, if not already in the BS catagory. I would like to hear some comments of actual owners and users. I'm happy overall with the 2 putters I swap out and use currently, but I'm always on the lookout for new toys, and the pricing is not overly rediculous like many of the 'major brand' names I use/have used .
  19. I believe you're right on those. I remember trying some of those maybe 5+ years ago(?). And they were kinda hard as a rock also. However, I was playing the Tour Balata 100 prior to that time so anything would have felt like a rock compared to those back then.
  20. I usually regrip around 6-8 months anyway, but they are still in very good shape at that point. So I'm probably throwing away a few dollars by regriping too early. They are not the tackiest grip I've ever played in the rain, that seems to be one minus for them. However the couple of real rains I've played in were pretty heavy rains, so swinging in general was a chore. But general 'moisture' from sweat, humidity or a light sprinkle of rain has never been an issue.
  21. I've been using those for a while now and love them. There is another thread here where I go into a little more detail of my opinion. http://thesandtrap.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13906
  22. The Golfpride DD2 midsize I use claims to be + 1/16.
  23. I also use R7 TP irons. I found a good deal on ebay for a set of 3 RAC black wedges in 52/56 & 60. I see sets of the satin & chrome finish RAC wedges on ebay a lot also. I like the TM products and have always liked the black finish on wedges.
  24. If you regrip your own clubs as I do, grip tape solvent works as well as anything I've found. Just dash a little on to a rag and wipe the gum off in just a few swipes. Plus I always have it around handy.
  25. Most fitters would probably say that midsize was not the proper size for me, based on my build (5'10"/145#) and hand size (medium glove). But that's what I ended up being most comfortable and confident with. I even build up my putter grips about 1/8". That being said, I probably picked up an average of 3-4 strokes per round once I dialed in the 'feel factor'. I know it's probably all a mental thing, but I believe that golf is about 90% mental anyway. I feel that I can more accurately sense where the clubhead is throughout the swing, and the few extra grams of weight at the butt of the club changeds the swingweight just enough to actually increas my clubhead speed just a bit. Can't remember the exacts, but it was around a 3-4 mph increase, based on a previos analisys for loft/lie adjustment.
