They are highly variable, they can be all over the place. Most of mine are C9 to D5 though.

Your best bet would be to buy a new replica set then. A couple options for you here. Louisville Golf | Handcrafted, Custom Hickory And Persimmon Golf Clubs Vintage, custom golf clubs meticulously crafted and assembled by hand. Our signature hickory golf clubs are sculpted out of a solid block of high-quality persimmon wood in a laborious process including over 200 hand touched... Tad Moore Hickory Classics Tad Moore's vintage themed hickory shafted putters, irons, and woods, known around the world for their quality and workmanship. My suggestion would be to buy a few individual irons to start rather than the entire sets you can buy. Starter Clubs could Include: Driver: Will be around 11-12 degrees typically Mid-Iron: It will likely have a 2 stamped on it but is the loft of a 4 or 5 iron. My Louisville is 24 Degrees. Used for long approach shots or as a driving iron. Mashie: It will likely have a 5 stamped on it but this is essentially a 7 iron loft. This club is often used for approach shots or Niblick: It will likely have a 8 stamped on the bottom but it will be a PW loft in the 45-48* loft range. Putter: Lots of options. I like those 5 clubs to start. Other clubs you could consider if you want to go crazy: Spoon: High lofted wood, Some might even recommend this instead of a driver, maybe @BEK1966 might be able to help me on this if he is still around here? He has helped me learn as much as I have about these clubs and is much more knowledgeable than I. I'm really just getting started in all this. Mashie-Niblick: Just like it sounds, it is between a Mashie and Niblick for loft. Playclub: Basically it is like and aluminum hybrid. Very cool looking club, Tad Moore sells them. High Lofted Niblick: You can also get higher lofted Niblick in the 52-56 range with some bounce to make greenside shots a little easier. I don't use one, but it can help a lot of players for sure.

Shorter flight, no spin. Gotta land it before the green a lot and let bounce it on. I like hitting the driver. I find it really forces me to swing smooth with a mild tempo. You don’t really use the Wedge(Niblick) around the greens other than when you are forced to flop it over something, which is tough to do. Often you will use a Mashie which is lofted similar to a 7 iron around the greens. The biggest learning curve is just in hitting the ball cleanly. The front edge on these clubs is very sharp.

Here are some clubs I’ve been working on. I restored the Niblick(pitching wedge) but the other 2 vintage irons, I bought from an individual who restored them for me. I have a replica driver and a long iron which is called a Mid Iron. The second photo shows before and after of cleaning the rust off the heads. I am working towards building an all Scottish set, which will take some time. There are a number of short courses and older courses that are more fun to play with hickories. I played Eagle Springs which is Wisconsin’s oldest course and also a short course recently as my first round with hickories. It is a perfect hickory course. I’ll attach some more photos later about working on restoring these clubs for play.
  5. These comparisons are to a scratch player. I am not sure how much this really helps me but I guess it confirms what I have been thinking.150 and under is the most positive thing I have going on compared to a scratch golfer. 150+ is decent, but I know that I can be better if I can improve my fairway wood play which was pretty non-existent this season. I'm losing the most strokes in driving, and about the same amount to short game and putting combined. I believe that my biggest struggle is a centered and balanced driver swing. I tend to overswing, get off balance, and miss badly in both directions a lot. I had some good rounds with the driver and many very bad rounds this year. I also used the 3 iron a lot on holes I wasn't comfortable taking the driver out on. My short game isn't good either and my putting has been brutal this year. I need to practice those things a bit more throughout the season. I don't practice these two things much at all and need to devote a bit of time to it moving forward.
  6. This is a great read, between this and the podcast I picked up some things that I can do to improve my game.
  7. I am still working on covering the ball at impact, however to make it easier and better, my instructor has my trying to remove some extension and chest to the sky look that I tent to get before I transition down. I went to the range this afternoon and felt like I was doing this move well and feeling huge differences. I have to laugh because when I look at the video I was maybe fractionally better. I've tried this move before and struggled with it, but I will stick with working on it this time and eventually I will improve the picture.
  8. I was able to listen to it this earlier today and enjoyed it greatly. I learned a couple things I didn't know and got some reminders on things I did but needed to hear again.
  9. It is starting to look pretty incredible @iacas. The channel par 5 hole has some interesting options for how to play it with a more aggressive fairway to the right that looks tough to hit. It is around 8:20 in the 2K21 video. Many of the green complexes look amazing as well. I can't wait.

  11. If you are interested in knowing more about about this course here are a couple videos for you. From the Golf Channel, this is the most comprehensive video I have seen about the course: https://www.golfchannel.com/video/2019-pga-championship-lido-golf-club-lost-golf-treasure This one first talks about some of the history, and then you can see the holes one by one.
  12. Absolutely, it's a requirement! 😉
  13. Yeah they feel and sound really nice. I actually thought about playing the sandbox with them as well. I am playing Lac La Belle again on Monday for an outing and supposedly when they re-designed it they allowed for a lot of run-up holes. I don't remember for sure but I will check next Monday. If it is more fun to play with hickory clubs that would be great because that course pretty much takes driver out of my hand and I am not a fan of that course otherwise very much.
  14. No, I also have a putter and am looking for a more lofted wedge to add as well, but it will be just 6 clubs when I am done. Some guys carry more. My 3 irons right now are as follows: #2 Mid Iron(24*-weak 4/strong5), #5 Mashie(36*- 7 iron), #8 Niblick(48*- PW). All the shafts are "stiff" however you cannot transition these clubs in the downswing like a modern club. There is not such thing as stiff really. Especially with the longer ones. You have to basically swing them very smooth. I "feel" about a 50% speed with them. I am just playing the Callaway Supersoft for now. It is something like 30ish compression. 15. I played Eagle Springs which is a nine hole course built in 1893, considered the oldest golf course in Wisconsin. The course is really too short for much of a challenge with modern clubs but it was a blast playing my first hickory round there. Something about the simplicity of having just a few clubs, no range finder and the challenge of playing these clubs is just a blast. The approach shots are really a challenge. Often you need to land them short and bounce them onto the green to hold a green. I don’t think this will be the predominant way I will play golf in the future but certain courses, I’ll likely only play this way.
  16. I still need to add a bit of depth in the backswing with a bit less height, but just with the “covering” feel so far here are some results. It is really helping my shots on the course, especially with the driver and bringing more consistency to it. This is probably the second biggest positive change in my swing I have experienced.
  17. I'll be playing a local 9 hole course this weekend that was built in 1893 with these beauties. These are not vintage but are replica's made by Louisville Golf and Tad Moore.
  18. Working on the same things. I adjusted the the grip slightly stronger which is getting more height back for me. I still miss right though(actually more often which is weird to me) especially if I hold off the overtaking too much. Without much direction right now I have been trying a few things. After this video I started working a little bit on getting that hands and club a bit deeper again in the BS. It is straightening the shots out for me, I am just worried about not overdoing it and letting the hooks creep back in. I'll likely need to introduce more hold off as I get a bit deeper. I'm not sure I will keep with that feel or not.
  19. We walked around a bit. Watched some tee shots on 10 and then walked up ten and showed the guys I was with 17. Then we walked over to 13 where I like to watch the tee shots. It is possibly my favorite hole on the course. It is a bit of a walk but is a little less busy over there. Grandstands on 18 would be great as well or #1 tee box grandstand but good luck. Haha
  20. Probably very likely, but I would not personally count or rely on that being the case.
  21. @Wanzo or anyone else going. Eat a big breakfast before you go, because the food situation there is a mess. If you want any hot food I hope you like hotdogs, because that was basically all they had, and some of the tents had nothing and not even close to enough staff to service the needs of the people in attendance. I would hate to see what happens when it gets really busy, Friday-Sunday.
  22. 😁 😁 I am not really even sure why exactly but this course is just fascinating to me. Even though it is a replica. Maybe because it is so different from the others there, but it just looks fun. I have to play it one way or another. Whistling was an experience I am good with playing just once. The SV property I feel like I need to visit every year with my proximity.
  23. I have not seen anything about that. I actually am the guest of a business supplier of ours. They invited me and one other person to attend, I am currently working on finding a +1. Haha
  24. I pretty much agree with the assessment of the course here. I will be there tomorrow for the practice round.
