  1. It used to be, here in South Florida, that summer meant the tourists went home & we would get the courses to ourselves. Plus the rates drop. But here in Miami? There's no noticeable difference. It's still too many people in too small of an area & Miami does not have enough courses to serve the population. Many have closed & made into (more valuable) homes. The bright side? I am three hours from Key West. Go do the Duval Crawl!
  2. I agree. Spend a couple of hours watching The Golf Channel & you'll hear about a Driver which will add 30 yards to your tee shots, a wedge that magically stiffs every shot & hybrids that turns ugly swings into majestic shots. PXG...the best golf clubs...PERIOD! As my high school golf coach used to say, "It ain't the arrow, it's the Indian."
  3. They say its to "remove the toxins" in your body. Yeah. Sweat & consciousness.
  4. Delusional. I played it under normal conditions.
  5. True story. Back in 2007 I was a volunteer at the Ginn Sur Mer Classic (no longer exists, Daniel Chopra won it) at Tesoro in Port St. Lucie, FL. An end-of-season PGA Tour event after the big names finished their season. They gave out sponsor's exemptions to Derrick Fathauer, a local kid who was a rising amateur back then, now a pro trying to get his footing on tour, and...John Daly. By far and away, Daly had the largest galleries. Wasn't even close. He shot 75-69 to make the cut, then shot 79 & withdrew. So it goes to @iacas's point about why sponsor's exemptions are given. In this specific instance, Daly's presence definitely ratcheted up interest & made people pay to attend who normally wouldn't. He increased the gate.
  6. No it's not. I have played Harbour Town.
  7. I just reject absolutes like "Will never happen." You can't prove a negative anyway. You can try, and some are making compelling points to do so, but I just disagree with "never." Highly unlikely? Sure, and I've admitted as such. And the 'will never happen' people's points confirm that it's highly unlikely as well. That's as far as I can go with agreeing. Good example. The only way you will "never" win Powerball is not play. That is a certainty. But if you buy a ticket, I believe the odds are like 1 in 22 million. I call that highly unlikely.
  8. Yeah, there's all types of yoga. I like Vinyasa, which emphasizes stretching & flowing into poses. Not into 'Hot Bikram' where they blast-furnace the place & make you hold poses. It seems that Savasina, which is the rest period at the end of most if not all classes, is where they get spiritual. I just wanna lay down, not hear about thanking myself for taking the time to honor my chakras or whatever.
  9. I did yoga for years (need to get back into it) & the only "spiritual" stuff is the concept of rewarding yourself, giving yourself a break, loving yourself. Aside that (which are simply healthy concepts imo), it's exercise which will definitely get your heart rate going. You'll feel it afterwards.
  10. Was gonna say. Just do yoga.
  11. So a sample size of one makes up your mind?
  12. Was she the lady who gave me the lesson at the FSK demo you did in Orlando a few years back that you invited me to? 50-ish, thin, smoker? I liked her.
  13. Seems to me that sponsor's exemptions fall into one of three categories: 1. Local phenoms 2. Low-handicap celebrities 3. John Daly

  15. Breaking 80 would be a success.
  16. I've played Harbour Town, and it's basically hallway golf. Every hole is lined with trees except 17 & 18. Have to hit it very straight or you're in the trees. Which is my point. If it came down to can a woman win or can't she on the PGA Tour, I can't justify can't win. It's possible. It's not impossible. Highly unlikely? Sure. But on the right course, catching a hot week on the greens (which is basically whoever wins a PGA Tour event anyway) & hitting fairways/greens, why not? Women can do that. Men have a distance advantage. But the longest driver for the week doesn't always win. These guys are good. But so are the ladies.
  17. I thought I saw that Lexi averages 280 off the tee...? If so, that (obviously) puts her at the tail end of the men, but still long enough for shorter PGA Tour courses - 280 down the middle works at Harbour Town.
  18. The question wasn't can an LPGA player win on a consistent basis on the PGA Tour, it was can she win on the PGA Tour. So while I don't disagree that Pavin would have a much different career if he started out now, that's not really the point. If an LPGA pro can hit 70% of the greens & is making putts, she can win. Now, obviously, not on any PGA Tour course. For ex, I would have a hard time seeing an LPGA pro winning at this year's US Open site that featured 525-yard par 4s. But there are shorter tracks out there (Harbour Town, TPC River Highlands) where it's conceivable, in my opinion.
  19. Sure. They're talented professionals. Hit greens, make putts. What about the length disparity? Two words: Corey Pavin.
  20. I'm really intrigued, and I haven't taken any kind of instructional lesson or class in years. Could be a fun day. I'm seriously considering it.
  21. There's one in my area, at Doral, next month. $125. So now it's a financial decision. Definitely intrigued by it...just have to decide if I'm $125 intrigued by it.
  22. Somewhere along the way I went form carrying a one iron to my longest iron being a six. So I guess carrying a 3, 4 & 5 hybrid is the sell out. Or I'm old. Or both.
