Thanks for the info on the "E" on the Hogans clubs. I took the clubs out to the range for their first swing test and i hit better than i have ever hit before...right down the middle and distances i've never encountered with irons before (for me). i was hitting my 4 iron 200 yards while using my 1 (real wood) wood at 225. I did have probs swinging the 3 iron though. i don't know why. I'm very pleased with the clubs purchase and that the seller came through for me.

I was a Florida transplant in Denver for many years. Go Rox!

I've never seen it. Is it good? I have had trouble getting into his music and I've tried many a times.

Update: After I escalated the issue with Paypal Claims, the clubs magically appeared at my doorstep 2 days later with a shipping date that matched the day after I created a dispute with Paypal. I knew he hadn't shipped them. It was probably due to laziness or forgetting. I am very happy to have the clubs and I look forward to swinging them. They are in great shape and exactly as described. Question... They are Ben Hogan forged irons. There is a club with the name of "E" or "Edge". Is this equivalent to a Pitching Wedge? Thanks in advance.

Does anybody participate in Inline Skating? My wife and I are going to be getting our first pairs. We want to up our exercising without having to go to a gym. This is more fun. It's been recommended to get K2 or Rollerblade brand skates by a friend. What are your opinions. Any suggested models purely to be used for exercise/recreation...no tricks? I know the way they fit is the most important these days. Also recommendations on helmets/pads companies? I was hoping to spend around 60/pair. Is that feasible?

Well, there has been absolutely no communication coming from the seller so I escalated it to "claims" at Paypal. He buys/sells on Ebay often so I don't think I will have a difficult time getting my refund. In the event that the clubs eventually show up, I will be very happy. There are many other clubs out there so I'm not set on these obviously. I'm just disappointed how it all ended up, ya know?

I have bought and sold things on ebay over the last few years with no problems so I decided a shot at some 7 year old Ben Hogan forged irons (to help improve my game a bit) off of Ebay. The seller had good reviews so I figured...I have little to lose. I won the auction and they sold for $39 and $17 shipping. Boy, was this a mistake. I should have known better. It's been just about 3 weeks and I have yet to receive my irons. The seller has been poor at communicating with me and I have had to escalate this to Paypal for a dispute. The seller claims the US Post Office has lost them. The post office says chances are that the seller never sent them. There is no proof the seller can provide that he actually sent the clubs. I think he just wanted more money for the clubs and decided he rather resell them while keeping my money....or....he didn't send them yet, intends to and is blaming it on the Post Office (and they will magically appear in the next day or two). If you are buying clubs online through a private individual, be sure to demand shipment only with insurance and a tracking number. Sometimes it might be better to just buy them locally. Anybody else had luck?

There's an offseason? I'd suggest taking a trip or two to Florida, Arizona or southern Cal. Since you are in Utah, it shouldn't be too expensive to get in a few rounds during the offseason. I used to live in Denver and we golfed all year round. We only couldn't play when there was snow on the ground.

How much do you think equipment helps your game out?
gulfsidebo replied to fastfed's topic in Golf Talk
I'll be able to test this out in the near future. I have been playing on old hand-me-downs that are probably as old as me (35). Recently, I purchased newer, but still older, clubs (about 7 years old and just a set of irons) and I intend on playing my next round on them. They are forged Ben Hogans. I'm hoping to break 100 for the first time. We'll see. -
Welcome to the board! I grew up in Coral Springs and live in the St. Pete area now after a long stint in Colorado.
-
Wow! I would have loved to seen/heard that. If you are ever in St. Pete again, let me know.

I couldn't think of a better school for the Gators to lose to. Auburn fans are some of the nicest folk around. UF has trouble with Auburn with 3 losses in a row.

We're heading to the "busy season" here in Florida since we can golf all year round. However, I used to live in Denver and we golfed all year round there too. The only time the courses were closed was when there was snow on them. I loved swinging with that wind chill. Add an iced cold beer and we were set.

Even if we got buy-in from congregation members only (and some local businesses nearby) I think we could raise a bunch of money. The average contemporary service holds 600 people and there are 2 traditional services. I figured I'd make it 100 dollars to enter per golfer, provide breakfast and have local businesses provide prizes in exchange for the advertising.

I am on the board for a small church-run preschool and was tossing the idea around for having a Springtime fundraiser in the form of a golf tournament. Does anybody have any experience doing this and do you have any tips? I played in a game of "best of" over the summer for a YMCA charity event up in Pennsylvania and I had a blast. Thanks in advance.

And the Gators continue to have probs with Auburn. At least I like Auburn fans...they're some of the finest bunch in the SEC.

Does anybody golf (especially when out by yourself) with music or IPods going? If so, does it seem to help you or deter your game and what music do you prefer to listen to when golfing if you do? I like the "being outside" part of golf, but I loooooooove music and was wondering if I should even consider mixing the two. I wouldn't be able to hear "fore" with headphones on...that's for sure.

I play guitar and I play golf (not very well). If you are looking to make the golf team, I'd go for irons. You can learn to be a great guitar player on an acoustic and a crappy one at that too. Golf seems to require better equipment in order to hit a new level of play. I don't like video games and I'd suggest getting something that will either get you outside or utilizing your creative juices. Good luck and happy strumming/swinging.

Well, I've just started back in the game again, but I recently played at Largo Municipal and I live 3 blocks from The Tides in Seminole. Since I am recently back in the game and last time I played I lived in Colorado, I haven't had a chance to play many courses in the area yet. I hear that Bardmoor is really nice, but expensive. I hope to play this course off East Bay in Clearwater that's tucked away in a country club soon too. I forgot what it's called though.

Thanks, I think I will.

Looking for a good golf course in the Tampa Bay area
gulfsidebo replied to Xbmchs12X's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
You might want to try The Tides in Seminole. It's right on Boca Ciega Bay, but I hear the fairways are narrow (and well kept). I live 3 blocks from it and haven't played it yet. I just got back into the game and it is on my list of courses to play...and real soon.
