It's been awhile since I posted an update. Taped my swing many times but this is the first time in over 8 months where I'm very happy with it. Tempo seems better, dropping the club and coming from the inside much better. All in all very pleased so far, now if I could just break 80! Let me know what you think.

I was insinuating that your username may mean you're a Manchester City fan, and if you were I was apologizing for your fandom!
-
Unrelated note, I know it says your from Manchester, but if your username has any other connotation, I'm sorry...

So... did you find an abandoned warehouse to practice in?

What to say in the awkward silences after a bad shot?
vanpooten replied to Brandon138's topic in Golf Talk
Best response is nothing at all. Think about it. If you hit a shit shot do you really want to hear 'hey man don't worry about it', or a wise crack, you just want people to shut up and get on with it. That is unless you're playing with people that you're really comfortable with and you're just giving each other shit the whole time; then anything goes! But from the sounds of it with the awkward silence, the former is the better choice. -
So Mike, I'm having trouble properly feeling pressure more towards my toes. Would a good drill be to stick a golf ball under my left heel and swing like that, or is there something better?
-
Awesome stuff, can we expect more of this from future tournaments? It would be awesome if you could get footage of them swinging during practice rounds.
-
Ok thanks that's what I was looking for. I will work on the pieces and post and update sometime.

Thanks Mike. Could you explain to me what the purpose of these two things would be for (just genuinely curious and want more information)? Not sure if your first sentence is joking or not, the video's clearly edited. I appreciate your input, however, I don't think the whole 'spring'/'coil' mantra is too popular here. I do agree my seqeuncing is out of whack though.

I've been Playing Golf for: 3 1/2 years My current handicap index or average score is: 80's My typical ball flight is: straight/draw with irons, straight/fade with driver The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: pull/pull hook/pull slice (so sick of hitting pulls!!) Thought I'd use the template for the most recent swing. I posted some practice swings to try and show what I'm feeling, and to see if that's the direction I should be headed. Again it may be the camera angle but it really looks like I'm coming across the ball at impact, and am over plane coming into it. The practice swings don't have that issue I think, so I'm really trying to feel the practice swing in the real one. What is my biggest issue at the moment? I see my head dropping down almost instantly on the back swing and the outside in swing coming down as two big things; is there something big I'm missing that is the root of many of my problems? Thanks for any advice.

"You're a standard all the way"
vanpooten replied to WalkTheCourse's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've never done it but I always here it's one of the best investments for your game. Also it sounds like this guy doesn't know his stuff or was lazy and didn't want to fit you. The main determinant for the length of your clubs is the distance from your wrists to the ground when hanging at address position. So a 6' 5" guy could have clubs shorter than standard if he has some monkey arms! -
How much could I get for this Golf set?
vanpooten replied to David Pastars's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'll give you some balls I fished out of the lake and the tees from my bag for all that.. -
Quote: Still working on shoulder retraction in transition. Getting better. By this do you mean you're trying to keep the shoulder from sliding behind you at the top of the swing?

swing looks real nice, really like everything, especially your lower body movement, looks spot on to me

Thanks Beach.. I stopped using evolvr in August I think. Used a local instructor after that for a bit who I think screwed me up more than anything. Back swing plane was never something we talked about with evolvr, or seemed to be a concern. I personally don't see an issue with it, it's more of a one plane swing, and since my shoulders turn on a fairly inclined plane (and under my chin), I don't think it's a problem.

Here's an update for anyone interested. Each swing is a different one, with some practice swings mixed in. I know there's still some funky things going on, perhaps more than a few. Tempo may look a bit better. The wedges I hit in the beginning were me trying to feel a 3/4 swing with an easy tempo, as you can still see it's still a full swing. Funky stuff includes but is not limited to my whole hip/leg area moving around before the swing. I pretty much activate the whole swing with my lower body while keeping loose wrists which is why they lag so far behind in the back swing. I'm also not crazy about me coming up off my toes in the driver videos, with my right knee coming forward again from the side view. For the record I think the practice swing with the driver looked much better than the actual swings. If I could stay off my toes longer and keep my knees from coming forward on the side view like in the practice swing I could eliminate a lot of pulls, because it looks like I'm coming over the top in the actual swing (I think this is related to my knees crashing forward based on the practice swing v. full swing, correct me if I'm wrong). Some of the severity may come from the camera angle though. Today I was just trying to focus on tempo and calming down my 'noodleliness', along with hopefully improving some posture and set up points. A lot can be improved, interested to hear what y'all think is the most important thing.

His handicap on his avatar shows 26.9. He wants it to be lower than that along with breaking 90 by may 21st. Kinda go hand in hand.

My new favorite affordable Myrtle Beach course
vanpooten replied to Bullitt5339's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
Anyone ever play Sandpiper Bay? It's in NC but still considered Myrtle Beach area. I played it over the summer for about $30. It's in great shape; perfect 'mini-bermuda' (not sure if that's the right name) greens, etc. But it wasn't visually impressive or anything, and a fairly boring or plain lay out. It has several awards, and for the price I couldn't complain. -
first video is private

That sounds even better than On The Range, I'd like to see that as well.
-
I didn't see said show and I might be mistaken; but all that sounds like "On the Range". And yes I think they do it for every tournament, the Wednesday before it starts, and then replay it.
