  1. UPDATE: I AM STILL FAT. However, I have started walking on the course. I walked 18 holes today at Old Capital in So. Indiana. I am so sore.
  2. Dude, thanks for the info! I PLAYED OLD CAPITAL TODAY and I FREAKIN LOVE IT!
  3. How interesting you would mention those two things. 5 Lessons is the only golf book I have read from cover to cover and the result was that I did break 80 for the first time ever in THREE months. Incidentally, the image of the arms held together with a tightly wound cord is the one that sticks in my mind most vividly, and works very well as a swing thought for me .
  4. INDEED, indeed. Methinks at least TWO gods: The first, a god of line, symmetry, and order. A god of planes and arcs where the laws of speed, trajectory, and spin are constant, and obeyed. Then of course, the TWIN god, who was born second. Not unlike the coyote trickster, this god is a god of deception, wind, and unreadable slopes. A god of cruel tricks and bad bounces, who's favorite pastime is opening the earth to take all golfballs down to places where they will never see the light of day again.
  5. how'd he do it??
  6. Dudes, (Dudettes?) I am FAT. I am 6' and 300lbs. Now don't get me wrong I LOOK GOOD. HOWEVER I am still FAT. Anybody want to start some kind of contest for weight loss to the end of the year? Being not fat is good for golf, and I figured we could motivate each other. . . Any other FATTIES out there wanna challenge?
  7. Well, the fam is slowly settling down in Louisville after the last decade in NYC. One immediate bonus is cost of golf. The Louisville Metro courses average 12$ weekday walking. I tried out Shawnee, and its fine--great place to score low. Interesting Shawnee trivia: hole #7 has the I-64 overpass behind the green. From the back tee of the short par 4, the overpass is 355 yards away, and about 40 yards high (that's a guess). ACCORDING TO LEGEND, Tiger played there in '95 and hit a ball onto or over the overpass for the gallery of kiddies. I find this believable numberwise, but would love for someone to verify. . . Looking forward to trying Seneca this week, and Old Capitol in the near future. Again, if you are walking these courses are CHEEEEEEEEP!!! Any suggestions!?
  8. I think that staying inside your own game when playing with others of differing abilities can be the steepest mental challenge in the game. Wonder what Tiger feels like when pros say "good shot" after something mediocre for him.
  9. Aerosmith is my favorite modern Rock band. Love em from Toys in the Attic right up to the recent "blues" album release.
  10. Yeah, but the deal is, the insurance is really expensive for the human voice. The person has to have a track record establishing worth, and then pay high premiums . . . strange thing. Opera AFLAC anyone?
  11. What do you think the chances are that Annika STAYS retired?
  12. Thanks guys.
  13. channel 74 Sirius Blues!!!! All day long.
  14. I am a professional Opera singer, and the other day in a show, I knocked a prop drinking glass into the pit. Didn't touch a soul, thank god, but I got so much shit from the administration of the company, as "many of the instruments in the string section cost over 100k!" Oh brother . . .
  15. Golf has the ability to intimidate the hell out of me, or make me feel like a King--often on the same hole!

    Pelz Bibles

I got Pelz's Short Game Bible and loved it. That book opened up the world of shots inside 100 yds to me. I refer to it regularly. HOWEVER, I just picked up the Putting Bible , and after 30 min of reading I am ready to put it away forever. My first problem is that he was marketing his putting tools in the first chapter. My second is that he mentioned twice in the first 2 chapters that Tiger's putting needs improvement, while holding up Mickelson up as a positive example. I like both players and their game, but that sure seems like, "my student is better" favoritism. I just get this feeling like it might be a chash in off the excellent Short Game Bible , with more BS and less goods. Any thoughts?
  17. There was much said about Perry avoiding the US Open to put himself in position to win tournaments, which would in turn get him on the Ryder Cup team. He did it, won, and he deserves to be on the team.
  18. I have to second dent, and say that Scorecard is really a great tool. Lately, I have been pulling up my stats from exceptional rounds (for me) and trying to get into that mindframe again before the upcoming round. oh, and it reminds me to make less putts per GIR.
  19. way to go dude. The baby steps in golf are each delicious, so savor it up!!
  20. something that I find encouraging is that the short game lessons you learn stay with you through the off season, and "re-improving" doesn't take much.
  21. I agree with the above, esp regarding Campbell and Cabrera (who is just as likable as Mediate IMO). What could have been GREAT, was if this were the ONE time that Tiger was beaten, on the 91st or 92nd hole, by this guy who put together great game for 5 days. In a way it would have extended Tiger's legacy, because then it would be said, "Tiger's beatable after holding the lead in a Major, BUT ONLY after 19+ playoff/SD holes, and ONLY if he just had his 3rd surgery, and couldn't prepare as normal. . . " The Mediate win would have been appropriately dramatic with the playoff and sudden death, to beat the best player EVER. But that's why he's the best, and one step closer to overtaking 18 majors. Hoping he wins British AND PGA. . . I disagree in this regard: if Chamblee means short term disappointment--of course. But if he means Rocco will look back with a sense of disappointment later in life as he considers his career I think he's wrong. Rocco is a bounce-back, glass is half-full type guy. He will see all of the positives of this week, and leave the woulda coulda's for someone not as smart as he.
  22. So far no Berman!! good news for all. Rocco was a 3 inches from an ace on #3.
  23. I have REALLY enjoyed the first two days: taking care of our 5 mo old and watching NBC/ESPN coverage. Similar plans today, but BUMMED bout Sunday, as I will be performing in "Tales of Hoffmann" from 6pm on. No DVR, so I will rely on Jim Nantz's Highlights due out on GC, and ESPN. That's life as a musician: Lots of time off, but somehow a gig always comes up during the final round. . .
  24. none ever and then TWO??!! That's awesome, dude! Keep it up.
  25. I think its narcissism: they can't stand the attention being on someone else, so GITH pulls it to them.
