3 - Yeah, only Fowler and Mahan have already played in the Ryder Cup , they wouldn't have been additional rookies, lol. And Mahan would have been motivated to atone for his previous experience, while Fowler,s two wins in the last year both came going head to head with World No.1 Rory Mac. 2 - Mahan and Tiger are buds who share the same instructor. They play practice rounds together and know each other's games and swings. The Woods and Stricker pairing had fizzled out at the last president's Cup where they went 0-2. Also, the course was set up long and both Mahan and Fowler are longer off the tee than Furk or Stricker.

I had extensive match play experience in both high school and college. This idea that you are supposed to display some sort of frosty attitude is bogus. If anything, after your opponent pulls a shot out of his arse, you should act gracious like it didn't bother you at all. Acting in a standoffish manner after something like that happens only serves to show your opponent he's getting to you. Furthermore, displaying an adversarial attitude will not only give your opponents extra motivation to beat you but cause them to keep their guard up. Best thing to do is make them think you are a happy go lucky guy and lull them into sleep. Then, when you ask them to make the 2 1/2 footer late in the match it'll be like a shock to their system and really rattle their cage.

I blame 3)Furyk - has become an epic choker 2)Stricker - just out and out sucks when his putter can't bail him out and 1)Love-I blame him the most since he chose those two "veterans" over youngsters like Fowler (who has won 2 tournaments in the last year beating Rory Mac head to head each time) and Hunter Mahan (who would have relished a chance for redemption and made a good partner for Tiger). Those people blaming Tiger or Phil are most likely those partisan to the other.

While I carry all the time, we are of the same mindset. In fact, my bud and I would rather get paired with a guy or two in a cart than many walkers who really shouldn't be walking. We are low handicappers, high handicappers walking only serve to slow us down in many instances.. And unlike most guys taking the cart, many of these walkers take everything so seriously even though their games don't warrant it; they are posers. Give me the guy racing from bad shot to bad shot in a cart making jokes any time over the out of shape guy who needs to move faster but whose ego won't allow him to ride.

Right, because more often than not removing some of the old overgrown trees at an older course brings it back closer to the architect's original design and intention. This was certainly the case with Oakmont before the 2007 US Open.

Ditching my burner 2.0 irons
Elvisliveson replied to WVUgolf21's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
The Burner 2.0 is not an iron you necessarily outgrow. It can be played by accomplished players, as evidenced by it being used by tour players Kenny Perry and Natalie Gulbis in 2011. I still have mine as my backup set. -
I am with you. I am an avid trail runner and heavy weight lifter. The only day I don't train is the day I play golf., because after carrying my bag for 18 holes, I'm spent.

Deep greenside rough, short sided pin
Elvisliveson replied to BioGolfNebraska's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
In the situation described by the OP, I would take out my 60* wedge and play a flop shot - ball aligned with front foot, weight on back leg, blade opened way up and swing hard and decisively. -
Ah, that old simplistic Chestnut. You don't believe the market forces are influenced by the rules and regulations that come out of Washington? And what the hell does the market have to due with the national debt that keeps climbing ever higher? You don't think balanced budget days of Clinton and the Gingrich led Congress went a long way in establishing those salad days?

Golf Cart Prototype, what u think?
Elvisliveson replied to hanalei's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I am beginning to understand what Judge Smails meant when he told Ty Webb that some people simply don't belong. -
What is the most annoying guy at your course like?
Elvisliveson replied to Todd Ruggere's topic in Golf Talk
Yep, single golfers always have annoying traits, that's why they come to the course alone. Relax, I'm just kidding, I know what he meant. -
Round on Kauai/Big Island for honeymoon
Elvisliveson replied to mplsgolfer's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
When on the Big Island, we stayed at the Hilton Waikoloa Village and played their Beach and King's courses. They even have a putting course. -
The best way, as the previous poster suggested is to get a series of lessons from a PGA professional. If money is tight, buy a book. Don't waste your money on swing tools. For example, some great golfers swings would cause the Medicus hinge to break every time!

Not nearly as many uses for GW as there is for the LW, imo. I have both and only use the GW for full shots when I'm between my PW and SW (110-120 yds). That maybe happens once or twice a round. Conversely, I use the LW at least a half dozen times: full shots between 60-80 yds, flop shots around the green, in the sand when I've short sided myself or want less bounce than my SW offers.

Works for me. The majority of my practice is done swinging my club in my family room, on a mat with no ball. I also have a mirror present to help check grip and positions.

2012 PGA Championship at Kiawah Island Ocean Course Thread
Elvisliveson replied to iacas's topic in Tour Talk
Me too, especially since I'm the only one who had him as one of the picks in the prediction contest. I could really use that ltd. ed. AMP driver to go with my irons . -
Webb Simpson and Stewart Cink Show their Support for Chick-fil-A
Elvisliveson replied to mvmac's topic in Tour Talk
Yeah, much better to pick a side and pound your fist. Better to just say "SCIENCE!" and poke fun at those with religious beliefs in the mistaken belief that it makes you seem smarter. -
Were you able to keep up?

Webb Simpson and Stewart Cink Show their Support for Chick-fil-A
Elvisliveson replied to mvmac's topic in Tour Talk
Maybe this will help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agnosticism Hard to believe you've never heard of Agnosticism (based on your idignation); it's quite serious. -
I love the irons in my signature. At the beginning of the season, I went to look at Mizuno JPX 800 Pros and got the Cobra AMPs instead and haven't regretted it for a second. I actually hit these further than the notorious TM Burner 2.0 irons I gamed last year. They make a forged CB version too if that's more your style.
-
How can anyone tell you how far you going to hit a club without actually seeing you play (not swing) in person? I will say that if you're only hitting your SW 80 yards, maybe a 60* LW would be better for you than a 64*.

Not counting a par 3 or pitch and putt course, I made my first eagle before I made my first birdie on a regulation course. Holed out my 2nd shot on a par 4.

It's never too late to improve. Take some lessons before you learn too many bad habits.
