  1. Eh, well, agree to disagree.
  2. Luckily, they get that chance to start the 2008 season. Hawaii plays my Gators in the Swamp for their season opener. I'm pretty stoked about seeing that.
  3. I can see where you are coming from and you make valid points, however, I think it is only true because we let it be true. She made the comment that I think was clearly not meant in a racial or derogatory connotation, but with the media and everyone having to tip-toe through life so as to not offend someone, it became something "racial." If Tiger was white and she made the same comment, would anyone have thought another thing about it? Doubtful.
  4. I reported the post that Jay was referring to to Erik to take care of. It was made by someone as their first post and was completely disrespectful towards everyone. Luckily, it was deleted.
  5. Yeah, no kidding. That's a good way to start here on this forum. Hell, any forum for that matter. I hope Erik bans him for that ignorant statement he just made.
  6. He obviously doesn't care, N.V.M. That's the dumbest and most selfish point of view on Performance Enhancing Drugs that I've ever heard. So you are admitting that you could care less about these people? You could care less about the image it sets forth for the youth now and what potential effects it could have on future youth? What about the kids that are pressured by that coaches to take a Cortizone shot so they can numb up their knee, shoulder, etc. so that they can play? And since you are paying to watch this event then you want them to destroy themselves and promote a negative image towards sports for your enjoyment? That's sad. And DirtCheap, I can play this game too. You say that andro isn't banned and then you post up a link to back yourself. Here goes.... http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/per...-drugs/HQ01105 Another one.... http://www.nutrabio.com/News/news.st...trol_act_2.htm It seems as though you should not be so quick to pass judgement on this fellow....
  7. Bragger.....
  8. Yeah. Wind gusts, severe angled lie, etc. would seem to be compelling evidence, but like you said, Verplank was the only one that suffered from the conditions. That could also just be fluke.
  9. From TD22057's post: http://www.usga.org/playing/rules/bo...ons/dec18.html 18-2b/4 Ball Moves After Player Grounds Club But Before Stance Completed Q. A player’s routine prior to making a stroke is as follows: He first grounds the club directly behind the ball with his feet together. Then he gradually widens his feet to shoulder width. At that point, he makes the stroke. If the ball moves after he grounds the club but before he widens his stance to shoulder width, does he incur a penalty stroke under Rule 18-2b (Ball Moving After Address)? A. No. A player has not addressed the ball until he completes taking his stance, i.e., his feet are essentially in the position in which he normally places them when making a stroke. However, if the ball moved after the club was grounded but before the player had completed taking his stance, he incurs a penalty stroke under Rule 18-2a for having caused the ball to move and must replace the ball, unless there is strong evidence that wind or some other agency caused the ball to move. (Revised)
  10. I guess so. My problem is that he was very adamant that he was not the cause of the ball moving. Golf is a gme of honor and tradition. I have no doubt that he would have called it upon himself had he felt he was the reason the ball moved. It just seems that there are a lot of gray areas within the Rules of Golf. He hadn't not completely taken his stance. Period. He sat his club down behind the ball, much like every golfer does. Then, he stepped away from the ball and came back to play his shot and noticed the ball had moved. Could you make the argument that he was the cause of the ball to move? Yes. Could you also make the argument that he hadn't in fact addressed the ball and the weather conditions caused the ball to move? Yes. I know this. I do this to prevent the ball from moving. That is a little different scenario than being in the middle of the fairway that has a 30* slope with wind gusts of up to 40+ mph and it raining sideways.
  11. I can't believe that you were allowed to "roll it" within a grip length in high school, let alone a junior tour. The only time we ever got to improve our lie was in there was standing water and/or the fairways were very wet. I always play the ball down. The guys I generally play with on the weekends roll it and take gimmies. I can't get myself to do that.
  12. I'm doing pretty good so far. I hope my guys have a good final round. Mike Weir Aaron Baddeley Jim Furyk Brandt Snedeker Steve Flesch Nick Watney

  14. I disagree on the GPS comments. I have only used my Skycaddie SG3 in one round so far, and I am completely confident that I would have shot around 75-76 instead of a 72 had I not had it with me. And also, they are becoming more and more friendly. Some tournaments allow you to use them according to "local rule." The other places I would say to improve would be short game and course management. I know you said that you practice your short game 3x per week, but practice are you practicing correctly? Are you just going out there hitting shot after shot after shot or are you taking your time, going through a routine, etc before hitting each shot? Course management is huge. This helped me get from around a 3 handicap to 0.0 this year. Don't haul off on driver on every par 4 and par 5. This is something that a Skycaddie could help you with as well. Find out what your ideal approach distances are and "lay up" to that yardage.
  15. Going back a few years, I've just never liked their clubs. The wedges, fairway woods, or drivers. I've never hit the irons though, mainly because I'm not in the market for a game improvement style iron. Just personal preference I guess.
  16. Wow, I don't understand that move at all. I'm not a fan of Adams Golf or Macgregor, but I can't see any pro choosing Adams over Macgregor. It had to have been a money issue.
  17. It's a tough call. Verplank was very adamant that he did not cause the ball to move. He hadn't fully addressed the ball, but he had soled the club behind the ball. With golf being a game of honor and integrity I would have to agree with Verplank that he was not the cause of the ball moving. With him being a professional, I have to honor his word in this case. But, again, it is a tough call to make.
  18. How do you know he did it naturally? FYI, I'm against ILLEGAL Performance Enhancing Drugs. I think it takes away from the honor and integrity of sport. I do, however, think that there are a lot of supplements that should not be considered PED's because they are just additional supplements that don't do anything unless you are willing to work out a lot to benefit from the supplement.
  19. That place is incredible. Cool experience it sounds like. I was there for the '05 US Open on Sunday and I was dumbfounded the entire time.
  20. Are you aware that you quoted the second post in this thread which is from the year 2005?
  21. First hole of the day today. 350 yard par 4. Hit a good 3-wood out there and had 61 left to the front of the green. 61 is what my new Skycaddie told me and this was the first hole I had played with it, so I told myself trust the yardage. Sure enough, I caught my 60* pure on a little punch shot. The ball was above my feet so it was coming in with some hook spin. I threw it pin high to the right, it took one bounce to the left and spun back to 4 inches. Kick in, gimmie birdie.
  22. Even par 72. Can't really complain all that much. I'm only getting to play about once every two weeks or so. I had 5 birdies on the day and 5 bogies. I played the par 5's terribly all day. That's what killed me, as well as wicked downhill breaking putts.
  23. Improve consistency: I did a pretty good job of this in 2007, but I want to improve. I would go a few weeks without that bad round, and then I would blow up one day and shoot an "80" which would infuriate me to no end. Improve confidence: There are some shots that I stand over and just never feel confident. To venture into that plus handicap region I firmly believe this is something I need to get rid of. I want to feel confident over every shot I have. Reduce my career low: My career low for 18 is -4. That was shot about 4 years ago. My goal is to shoot something in the 66 region. I shot a -4 round on 9 holes this past summer, but it got too dark so I couldn't finish the back nine. Improve putting: Again, this is something that drastically improved this year, but it can be better. I need to drain a lot more putts within that 10-12' range. Anything inside of 6-8' needs to feel like a gimmie. Reduce wayward tee shots: This is a big one that costs me numerous strokes when it happens. I tend to get super quick with my lower body on some drives and my upper body never has a chance to catch up. This usually results in an O.B. tee ball on the courses I play. Improve fitness/endurance: This is something I have been getting pretty serious about the last couple months. I want to eliminate some of my belly pudge and put on a little muscle as well. I need to keep myself running a few miles a day, 4-5 days per week. Qualify for 2 big tournaments: In my sig are the "big" tournaments I intend to attempt to qualify for. I think if I can keep improving like I have been over this year that I can easily qualify for 2 of them.
  24. I've been waiting on this thread for a little while now so I figured I would go ahead and make it. Erik, think you can "sticky" this thread like previous years' threads? Topic: Like the title suggests, what are your goals for the 2008 season? Be detailed and update them as the year progresses.
