I was really considering getting a 2 hybrid and canning my 5 wood (I used it in the fairway maybe once every 5 rounds). I tried my Dads 909 21° hybrid expecting great things after all the hype that has been around hybrids throughout the years. Hated it. Not sure why but I just couldn't stand looking down on it. If it ever came down to it I would hit a 2 iron over a 2 hybrid any day.

I would echo bhp said. The nike's are great clubs and the progressive system is a great way to mask forgiveness in the irons that you will need forgiveness in most. If you are a high hitter naturally with the old spaldings definately get a shaft fitting (get one regardless) that way you will be able to get your optimum trajectory.

No it was definately the blacks but I guess I was under the impression that it was more of a players iron that I was looking for (maybe why the offset and soul width seemed to throw me off so much)
-
Was really considering them, they were very good looking clubs. When I actually got a chance to see them I didn't even bother hitting them. The offset is huge on these clubs (compared to others in the same category). And the wedges had very wide souls which I was not a fan of.

taylormade burner 2.0 vs callaway x22
mosnas replied to outlaw1984's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
The X22 irons are weaker by about 3° in long irons that starts to shorten out to 2° in the 7 and 8 irons. Also depending on what length the shafts are the taylormades are likely longer by anywhere to .5-.25 inches on any given club. As far as playability they will play near the same style not a whole big difference between the two. I would not reccommend trading unless they were newer or had something you wanted in them. Trading for the sake of trading is not a very good way to get used to clubs and get a feel for them. It's tough to be consistent when you are changing your clubs too often -
What I like to do when golfing with a friend especially on blind holes is to get him to lie down next to the ball and then act like it hit him. Always good for a few free drinks (kidding of course). I once took out 3 wood into the wind on a driveable par 4 figuring it would land 50 yards short. Well as soon as I made contact I said "oh shit" yelled fore and rolled one just under the group ahead's cart. Got to them at the next tee and they thought it was impressive that such a young kid could do that. I apologized and they said don't worry about it we were so impressed. I've also had the negative where there was a hole that had a little landing area about 300 yards over the trees or the fairway that ran to the right of these trees. I waited to hit last (long hitter of the group) expecting to slice I didn't think much of the group ahead as they were at least 40 yards out of the way and walking. Well it turns out I smoked my driver straight as an arrow over the trees and from what we could tell landed perfectly in the landing area. Looked for my ball didn't see it in the fairway looked in the trees (no bushes or shrubs easy to find a ball) and nothing. The buggers pocketed my ball. I was frustrated as hell because even though I didn't charge myself a stroke it still felt like I was cheating. Usually I don't care if people hit up on me as long as it happens occasionally because like sean said we all occasionally hit a club 30 yards longer than planned or get a good bounce.

255 yard 5 wood downwind to reach the green in two. Ended up 2 putting but damn that club has been working for me lately.

I yes lost balls is one thing that drives me off my rocker. Like look until the group ahead is off the green any longer and I get mad. Nothing makes me more mad then guys looking for a $3 golf ball. If you care that much about the ball or spent that much then clearly you should not be playing it. That is the only time I ever lose my temper and maybe lose patience. Anywho after that rant I understand where you come from a bit better. Best suggestion find a new course or maybe talk to the pro at the course.

Here's my rule of thumb, if the deal is too good to be true then it most likely is. For 30 pounds you either got a fantastic deal (especially when buying new) or it is a fake knock off. I am guessing the latter.

I'd have to say a welding mask, maybe even one of those fire suits?

I just try to relate to how other golfers feel I've had bad days where I've taken a few gentlemens snowmans but I still don't think its right to make every golfer that is having a poor round pick up a golf ball. Ultimately in your situation the course marshal should have been better maybe taken a drive down to what hole you are on and ask the group ahead of you to let you play through. Remember the golf course is a business and they don't want to kick anyone off or ruin their game regardless of skill because whether you are a scratch or 50 handicap you still pay the same price.

I have to say Tiger, putting aside the amount of wins how many majors what the field was like all that shannanigans I look at one point. Tiger can get it done when it counts. Jack wasn't quite capable of making the charge that Tiger does, as well he didn't strike fear into every player he played with or competing. As far as skill wise the debate will probably always go on unless tiger wins 5 more majors. But as far as who is the Greatest it is tiger.

It depends where you are weak at. Having a good short game doesn't mean anything if you can't get the ball to the green.
-
True but I still have respect for anyone that is on the golf course. It's a great game and by people making it unfriendly to beginners it is discouraging others from playing,

Got fitted...Lie angle...swing speed...I'm confused
mosnas replied to BrokeLoser's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Well as an 18 handicap your swing isn't gonna be the exact same everytime right? so thats why there is room error. Unless you have the exact swing every single time they aren't gonna be able to nail down your exact numbers. Trust your fitter they know what they are doing. I recently got fitted had my clubs extended .5 inches and 1° upright they didn't work miracles right away but after I got used to them they were a lot more comfortable. -
I've always looked at a slow golf game like this: The slow players whoever or whatever reason they are slow are paying customers and to me as long as they aren't dicking around on the course breaking any rules than they have just as much right to be there as me. No group should have to pick up the ball because they are playing poorly, It's golf you gotta learn somehow. However they should let you play through if they don't ask politely and they will be more than willing. Also you shouldn't be in a rush to play golf, heck I enjoy the scenery as well as the weather a day at the golf course is amazing for me and I don't care how long it takes. The marshals should do a better job at managing the time however sometimes if it is jam packed there is nothing they can do. Like others said try golfing at different times if you are free on saturdays go in the morning, or sometimes the twighlight specials courses have are great because the sun stays up late and it can sometimes be a bit cheaper.

Tiger v. Jack v. Snead: leveling the playing field
mosnas replied to turtleback's topic in Tour Talk
The thought of tiger returning to his reign on top of the world of golf is quite exciting for me. Unfortunately I was never alive to witness the best ever at a sport so seeing tiger close in on Sam Snead (by their official count) and maybe he can make his second wind push at 4 more majors. But I'm still not jumping on the Tiger Woods Band wagon quite yet, I'm hopeful yet still skeptical. -
It is by no means cured but today after my round I hit a few range balls and tried something. For me it was never a problem with hitting the ball in the centre whether the club was open or closed. I almost always had a slice even when I closed my club by a few degrees. I realized it must be because of my swing. I was coming to over the top, so I tried that drill where you put a towel or glove under your left arm pit and dont let it drop on your back swing. Boom hit about 10 in a row straight and long. Worked today anyways I'm sure tomorrow it won't

I use the taylormade daytona rossa. I like the weight of it and everything, just the metal insert is a little too "poppy" off the face.
-
Ya I think when I get the chance this weekend maybe I'll buy it. For $60 you can't really lose, plus I'll try selling a few of my wedges to make up for it.
-
Oh ya I agree with you there, I think the reason some classifications get blown out of proportion is because some people like to brag up their clubs saying "hey look I'm playing blades." In all honesty I don't care what category my clubs are in I hit them and they work thats all that matters to me. I realized after reading your post the category I was thinking would be a club with "similar properties of a blade" without being a blade.
-
Thats why I always get mixed up because whenever I consider what is blade and what is not I always think back to shape. If it Is a thin topline and thin sole then I think it is a blade. But I never consider the playability of it. Please don't jump all over me for this guys that's just the way I think about it.
-
I personally don't think they are super super off but that is just my personal opinion, to each his own Not sure if you guys classify these as blades but still this picture is not much more flattering http://www.golftown.com/Mizuno-MP-69-Irons-Steel-P4281.aspx#.T8b37tW0ynk .
